  • Jeff and I have always wished that one day we could spend just one romantic night at the Paris Ritz (not to be confused with a hotel in the Ritz Carlton chain--they are not related). So, in this video, we managed to make that "bucket list" item come to reality. Come with us... for this wonderful visit to the ultra luxurious Paris Ritz on Place Vendome, in Paris, France.

    HAVE YOU CHECKED OUT MY NEW “POSTCARDS FROM MY GOLDEN YEARS” MERCH?
    Here’s the link - postcards-from-my-golden-year...
    Hi! I'm An Scott. I'm a happily retired 70 year old woman with my “golden years” on the horizon, living the “good life”, whatever that is on any given day, with my fun husband Jeff, and our “bossy” little Yorkie, Bella.
    In April, 2024, when Jeff retires, we are moving from SW Florida, in the good old USA to Nice, France to live out our “golden years” on the sunny Mediterranean coast of southern France, in Nice France.
    Moving from the USA to a foreign country is no small “project”. Through my videos, we’ll be taking you through the process, sharing the steps, talking about what we’ve learned and the ups and the downs.
    SUBSCRIBE, FOR FREE, to my channel and as we progress through the steps of doing that, you’ll be able to follow along through each stage of our preparation and then catch up with us, as we settle in to our new life. We might even have some information you’re going to need if you’re also planning a move to France (or the EU)
    For now, come with us as we embrace our days and nights living everyday as though there is no tomorrow.
    MUSIC CREDITS:
    Most of my videos are shot with my Samsung Galaxy S20 Note Ultra Smartphone and a circular ring light, as needed.

They are so relaxing. Love the way you gave us an introduction about your the Ritz tradition. Congratulations on your apartment in Nice and your visa to France. I am sure it all went well, and looking forward to watching the new video updates. I love watching your videos. You and Jeff are the sweetest people.

      Yes, we did find an apartment. Adrian's company helped us find it, very quickly, in fact. And thank heavens because there's a real shortage of apartments for rent that fit our needs/wants, in Nice. We will be moving in early April. And of course, once we are moved and settled we'll definitely do a tour of our apartment. Thanks for your note. Hope to see you in Nice one day!

    ❤❤❤ So curious about the apartment! Congratulations! What area? I’m also going to be working with Adrian.
    I usually take showers vs baths, but I would definitely indulge in that bathtub at the Ritz. I’m glad you splurged. You need to every once in awhile!

      Thanks, the apartment is in the Medecin area, very close to where we stayed in November/December, actually right behind and sort of catacorner to the back of Nice Etoile, the mall in Nice Centre. I usually take showers too. The tub was enticing. We used the shower. Our new apartment has a bathtub with a "shower hose" (not crazy about that, but...it's France) With the shortage of apartments we didn't dare get too picky. Kathy showed us 2 apartments. One was further away from where we wanted to be and the 2nd floor bedrooms had no windows, just skylights, so we grabbed this one We'll need to buy some additional furniture but I like it that way. We can pick exactly what we want. Just curious...are you one of our patrons? Can't tell by your RUclips name.

      Nice area! I had walked over to the Nice Etoile when I was there. I preferred that mall to Cap3000 closer to the airport.
      Hoping to find a place in Quartier de Musiciens, just a little to the west of there. Looking forward to your apartment tour when ready. Good price?

    An and Jeff I started watching your videos after I watched Janice in France and she mentioned your channel. I enjoy your videos so much. I really like you both and I have not met you yet. I liked Jeff's dancing in front of the "I love Nice" sign. So fun and I appreciate his humor too. You are both very upbeat and I am excited that you are moving soon and that you found an apartment that you like. I do have a question about apartments in Nice. I am highly allergic to smoking. When laying out the criteria for your apartment that you would like, can you specify (to Adrian and her team) that you want to be in a non-smoking building? I know in Europe smoking is still very popular and I can't stand it! I will be working with Adrian Leeds as well.
    Thank you for your time! Congratulations on everything and to Jeff's upcoming retirement. So exciting!

    • @postcardsfromourgoldenyears
      @postcardsfromourgoldenyears  3 месяца назад +1

      Smoking in France is still popular, outside, but it is "night and day" different than it used to be years ago. Most restaurants that we have gone to don't allow smoking inside. When working with Adrian to find an apartment you will complete a form specifying your needs, wants and pluses as far as what would be acceptable in an apartment. We don't smoke and most of the Airbnb's we have stayed at in France, don't allow smoking either. I don't know the laws on apartment buildings and whether or not people are allowed to smoke in their own apartments. When you work with Adrian's staff you simply put on your form that you're allergic to smoke filled areas and make sure they understand you can't accept any apartment where people have smoked. You are paying them to search according to what is acceptable to you. I don't see it as an issue. Good luck to you.

    Hi An. Would be able to share what happened with the divorce decrees? Did they ask for them? Do you know if you will have to have certified copies each renewal year? If so how will you get them from France?

    • @postcardsfromourgoldenyears
      @postcardsfromourgoldenyears  3 месяца назад +1

      I brought the past marriage licenses and divorce decrees. I told the women reviewing my paperwork and she laughed and said "oh is that what all those other past names were?" And then she said, no that's the past. France doesn't care about those other marriages and divorces. She thought it was funny that I had a folder for each past marriage. So for now, not needed. I will keep them in the folders anyway in case the question is ever asked in the future when we renew our Visas. So don't worry about it 😉

    How long did Jeff have covid for .I m in bed for 2 weeks and still testing positive.

    • @postcardsfromourgoldenyears
      @postcardsfromourgoldenyears  2 месяца назад +1

      He was sick for maybe about 5 days. He was taking Paxlovid, which our doctor prescribed. That shortens the symptoms very quickly if you take it as soon as you test positive. In addition, we are both vaccinated and have had all of the boosters available. I didn't even get covid and I was with him 24/7. So that keeps us from getting Covid really bad, if we even get it at all. He tested negative after 7 days but was feeling a lot better after 5 days. The first time we had covid, before there were vaccines, we were both very sick for around 3 weeks, incapable of taking care of each other and we were alone. It was terrible. But we believe because of the Paxlovid and the fact that he was boostered, his last case wasn't as bad as it could have been otherwise. Hope you feel better soon. It's not a fun virus to deal with, Thank God for Paxlovid. A miracle medication! I guess you weren't able to get that?

      Thank you so much for your feedback on your experience with covid. It helps to learn how others deal with this terrible virus!!! I waited too long to get paxilovid.

      @@lindaowen6761 You're welcome. We hope you feel better soon. It's a terrible virus. The only silver lining is that you're immunity will be built up and you won't have to worry for a while. If you're not vaccinated and/or boostered, in a few months (I think you have to wait 90 days after having Covid) catch up with your vaccine. If nothing else it will reduce the severity if you get it again. Oh...and get Paxlovid ASAP at the first sign of symptoms for Covid, next time. I should add that our doctor told us that Paxlovid used to be $0 for people on Medicare (I don't know how old you are). It was no cost the last time we both had covid, about a year ago, as well. And then the company that makes it stopped "giving it away". He said that some people he prescribed it for had to pay nearly $1000!!! for the medication, in the last 6 months. Fortunately, Aetna, who we have our prescriptions through on Medicare, covered the entire cost for Jeff, so we paid $0. Again, best wishes for a speedy recovery.
