  • This DJ / Turntable console was another awesome project and it was a privilege to work with this beautiful Walnut! In this video I'll be making the carcass of the unit before I move on to the doors and the base in Part 2. I hope you enjoy and stay tuned for the next video!

Awesome project - loved everything but the music... You are quite talented my friend! Personally, here in NJ (USA) I'd be quite concerned about the expansion and contraction of end grain glued to long grain as we do have considerable humidity swings. Not sure how tight you had those dominoes, I usually go with sliding dovetails myself on joinery such as yours. I'm sure if you had just two tight domino slots and the rest loose you are probably fine. Looking forward to viewing the completion of this project! Subscribed and enjoying your channel!

Thanks a lot mate! Yes, definitely would be a lot more of an issue in a humid climate. Fortunately where I am in New Zealand the humidity is quite low and seasonal movement isn’t nearly as drastic. I completely this project years ago now so if you are interested in watching the final part of this build you will find the second video on my channel. Thanks for subscribing! 👍🏼

really well done mate, beautiful work, Im just wondering aren't you worries the panels will crack eventually as you glued the corner pieces and made what looks like tight domino holes?(do to expansion and contraction) maybe I missed something?

Hi mate, thanks for the comment! Yes, you're right. In retrospect I should definitely have made those domino holes a little looser especially towards the outer edges of each panel. However, I'm not sure where in the world you live but I have found that here in Christchurch, New Zealand the expansion and contraction effects aren't quite as severe as in other parts of the world where the humidity levels are higher.
