This was your best podcast in my opinion. These are country girls who have grown and become very modern (similar to my wife) with a unique ability to explain things because of their English language ability. If you speak Thai you can have these conversations with lots of modern Thai people but since most foreigners don't speak Thai this gives them an idea what life in Bangkok can be. I lived in Bangkok for 30 years so these conversations feel very familiar even though all the venues and people have changed. The vibe seems to have remained the same in many ways.
Alice should be a regular, her explanation of Thai culture is so spot on, but maybe it's not so good for Thai listeners but for Farangs it's great, Thai people are notorious for secrecy about their couture, good episode.
Country life in Thailand is pretty similar with many SEA countries as well; a cultural difference in old school rustic country/village living vs a westernised busy city life. Something most westerners would probably not come across before.
There are things to consider for any guy considering dating a Thai girl, especially from Isaan! Yes, that girl is beautiful, feminine, and traditional, and she's everything you're looking for in a partner! Keep in mind why she's in Bangkok if she's from a rural part of Thailand. She's there to make money and to send it to support her family in her village. As soon as you are in a committed relationship with her, her financial problems become yours! She may never ask you for money but when her family is in dire need of cash and you don't step in to help, she will resent you for it! If you do volunteer to help then you've started something that may be expected in the future. The issue is this, if you consistently help your Thai girlfriend, what happens when the relationship ends? Do you get your money back? Of course NOT! Before you enter into a relationship with a Thai girl, you have to ask yourself two questions... Can I ignore her financial problems as they come up and am I able to assist her financially without going broke? This is the harsh reality in Thailand. You're not in Kansas anymore!
The problem is foreigners as well, they will do everything for them showing off how much they can make and lifestyle, gifts, holidays, send monthly money to help. I have seen this so many times, and then all relationships end anyway, and start drama, fighting etc
@@oyo4959 Bad example! We’re talking girlfriend and boyfriend relationships, not marriages. Yes, if a foreigner is married to a Thai woman then YES, he is fully obligated to help financially!
I loved the show, but i want to remind you of the problem we have in the west with wanting so much and aspiring to be so much, Its stressful and the more you want, the less peace you have and the more depressed you get because of not being where you planned. I think we fail to realize the real reason we love Thailand so much, Yes, its cheaper to live, but what that cheapness gets you is less stress, your money goes further, but notice all the Americans you see there that done have a passive income live just like Thai people, they usually make just enough to live and not do so much work they have to stress, they tend to live more instead of work more, beaches, snorkeling, massages all week, hiking and just general exploring. These are all things that you cant do on the regular in the US unless you stop working because you have a big enough income to survive there without working. We are not born to work, we are born to live and Thai people are great at working but even better at living. Like she said, they may seem poor to a westerner, but her culture as a kid seemed rich, they had a local party for all kinds of reasons like all the time every week. I was not poor but I barely saw my parents and there definitely were not family parties all the time or much culture on consistency. If we want Thailand to continue to be this great place we love to escape to or live, we better hope the new generations do not all of a sudden become like Americans and destroy the peace we have there.
I totally understand what you are saying, but I think there is a work-life balance. In Thailand, I notice many people have no motivation whatsoever to improve their life and this can often cause problems as they grow older (which is especially true with lack of government financial suppport)
A facinating Podcast, I have only watched 3 and this is the best so far. I am an Australian that met an Isaan lady in 2010 and we later married in Australia. I was overwhelmed by the generousity of food, spirit and goodwill when I first visited her Ban (village) near Nong Khai on the border with Laos. It was very much as described with houses, pace of life and priority of Family, Village, Religious observances and culture. I am writing this 48 min into the 1.20 podcast but hope they touch upon the Isaan saying about "Water from the Heart" / Nam Jai. It is a concept and a real part of their cultural make up and Thais are unflinchingly proud of their Country and Culture. It is also a part of their Culture and way of living that causes (IMO) sooo many problems between marriages between Isaan Thais (as I have no experience from other Thai groups) and people from European West upbringing. That clash between Western Individualism, independence and financial independence and the communal approach of an Isaan Family group. The younger generations, having been exposed to RUclips and other social media may have a more relaxed view but the older generations will strive to preserve their Cultural identity and way of life, the same as older generations here in Australia are wondering about the erosion of our value system. Fantastic guests and fantastic episode. I still encourage my Isaan Daughter to not forget her roots, language and culture. Her biological Father left before she was born so even I have been "Dad" since she was 1 yr and she will be 16 in February.
When traveling with two passports, always enter and exit any given country on the same passport. So, for example, a Thai/Canadian dual citizen should always use their Thai passport when entering or leaving Thailand and their Canadian passport when entering or leaving Canada. That shouldn't lead to problems. It can be a little challenging when you have different names on your passports. In this case, you will need to show the passport that matches the name on your plane ticket in order to check in and when dealing with *security* regardless of country. However, at customs and immigration, use the passport that is "native" to that country. My Thai wife and I met and married in the US, and she has never changed her name in Thailand, but did change her name in the US as part of the naturalization process, so I the above advice is from years of experience going back and forth between the two countries. I hope that helps!
One thing that was not mentioned was the term "Dek Inter" ( translated to International Child) , that describes someone who went a International School. Half of the time, Alice speaks about her own lifestyle and way of thinking rather than those of Thai people in general. With nearly 70 million Thai people, it is unreasonable to expect everyone to enjoy the same things in the same way. The abundance of 7-Eleven stores in almost every corner of Bangkok is due to CP, the proprietary owner of 7-Eleven, being permitted to establish a new store next to an existing one if it has enough monthly customers. This phenomenon is not primarily about providing convenience. Additionally, the variety of transportation options available in Bangkok stems from laws that allow individuals to offer public transport services without undergoing extensive government procedures to obtain a permit.
I remember teaching at a bilingual school back in 2002, and I would often ask the 4th and 5th graders what they want to become when they're older. 95% of them could not name a single thing that they wanted to become. We are talking about several hundreds of them. They simple just didn't have any motivation or dreams to be anything better than what they currently were.
@@aquicktake at around the same time I was volunteer teaching at a rural school in northeastern Thailand and I asked my students the same question. They gave slightly different answers though. Most of them were children of farmers, and they didn't think of farming as a career because their parents weren't getting salaries as employees of a company or government organization. Most of those children figured they would end up farming like their parents, but a small number of them wanted to be police officers, soldiers, teachers or nurses. Those were the most common answers after farming.
I love how so many similarities exist within asian lifestyles all over asian continent countries ...so many things were normal for me and yet I could see how to a foreigner it can be unheard of or polar opposite of their perceptions and lifestyle. Thanks for the insight ❤
I bought my partners mother a new fridge/freezer but they still buy there ice everyday. I have had two Thai GFs. First one was way up North in Bueng Khan and my current partner of six years from the top of Surin. Both families are not unsimialar in many ways. They may be poor but they are very based in family and that is why the three lovely girls on this show are so based. Funny thing, i have wondered forever why the two storey houses are so common in Isaan and thanks to the girls, now i know why.
Absolutely stunning ladies! Their English is perfect unlike my Thai. I wish them all the success in the world with their future endeavors. Great questions..
I really enjoy watching your show, it’s different than the others. Lots of good content and interesting subjects to explore and learn. Thanks for your efforts. Keep going.
I was drinking some water when Alice said she wanted to retire in Canada and I nearly had water go up my nose. She needs to take a good hard look at the reality of Canada in its current condition. I'm in the US, but I'm aware of the issues because we're suffering all the same.
I discovered this channel very recently and watched a couple of episodes already, and this one is probably the best and most interesting one. Keep up the good work!
Great stuff mate good to have so naturally gorgeous Thai ladies. Telling it how it is with life and their culture. I,ve experienced in the past on numerous occasions Isaan life style, and chang Mai and the south living in Phuket over a 2 year period. Great times and i learnt a bit of Thai lifestyle.
Im afraid the one girl Is not so natural, too much facial surgery it's a shame as this is mostly a result of thai status and to much instagram pressure... basically not confident in one's skin and trying to be something your not. Sad to see but in Thailand women mostly think being beautiful is what you see on the outside
As a Canadian, you don’t have to pay Canadian taxes if you declare non residence and don’t live in Canada and not entitled to the Canadian social benefits. As long as you return to Canada and pay taxes then you are entitled to the benefits.
@@crazyg74 true. Declaring non-residency from CRA does not finish your tax obligations to Canada. Any earning, dividends, interest, rental income, pensions, CPP and OAS will still be taxable in Canada. No way around it. And yes - the only way to become non-resident for tax purposes in Canada is to become tax resident in another country
much depends on the mindset of the family and the individuals. my ex gf family are farmers from rachaburi but she graduated mahidol university as a physician. issan also has people with goals/dreams. a huge factor in society is an education system that fails to train the mind how to think critically, add "face" and this results in a culture that is largely "image over substance"
This is a very unique channel and I hope it’ll grow, keep developing on quality of intriguing guests and subjects and maintain the upscale style without being pretentious. The potential of this show goes beyond anything that is currently available on life in Thailand. Go E & E!
Great interview. These ladies gave a lot of valuable insight into Thai culture that would be hard to learn otherwise. What is the word that Alice mentioned at about 46:12 into the video? It sounded something like "ngoen mūn". Is this spelled เงินหมุน in Thai?
@@OneNightinBangkok_ I've learned some really spicy vocabulary from your recent interviews, but I feel like I could get into some trouble using it in polite company!
Yes, she said เงินหมุน. A literal translation is revolving/rotating money which means cash flow that needs to suffice for a period of time usually monthly.
Fantastic content and very interesting! It's good to see successful Thai women. Also, there are some good plugs for some new bars to check out. Keep up the awesome channel.
Great Episode Eric !! Been a supporter since day one and it only gets better. Saw you at Starbucks Emquartier yesterday as I walked past. Was gunna say thanks for the great content 🙏
Hi Eric I love your podcast i'm a new subscriber so i'm watching old podcasts with the new ones and your new ep.027 and I have to say wow Earn , Dream, Alex these girls are very smart and so interesting and they are beautiful too love all the infos they given and you can't wait to see your next podcast have a nice day and stay safe. 🙏🙏🙏
All the girls are bright and communicate well. but Alice has the best of both worlds and it doesnt hurt that shes a beauty on top of that as well ! supper interesting to hear all of them talk about growing up in small villages even the ones that went to international schools. They are so Thai how they think of family first and want to do as much as they can to make there families lifes easier.. I have been comming to Thailand for 20 years and have felt the warmth of the Thai people , to sum it up Thai culture is familty centric and these woman exemplify that well.. great interview...
Interesting new guest this week. Alice is very interesting and has an interesting background. I find her very articulate. Great job getting not only beautiful young ladies to contribute their thoughts on your show, but also super smart and well spoken.
Im full Thai, born and raised in USA. I have teenage sons who are half white. I regret not taking them to Thailand when they were younger or teaching them Thai culture. They are 100% Americanized and have no idea of Thai culture.
Fabulous episode, nice to see Dream back too.Really listened from beginning to the end.Alice is really not in wonderland, but in Thailand.Really very well explained. As well as there is so much information on this episode, even some recommendation like Alonetogether bar. Which is now on my list now.Isaan culture could be deep rooted into you,if you stay very long. By the way this episode is 2nd most watched episode on the channel after episode 1. Great job 🎉

Fun fact, a lot of Thai girls do go to overseas such as neighboring countries (Malaysia, Singapore) to work in Clubs and earn a lot as the wages in Thai are just that low and most of them even have a Degree. They could easily earn 70k baht in a month.
They go on a 15 day track and can make 100k baht and come home be off work for the rest of the month then prepare for next month different country and so on and so on. It's called dern Sai nock in Thai. Many different jobs they can do and the more prettier you are the higher scale of money you'll make plus she will meet a very rich sugar daddy

so funny how in thai its called "pasa esan" but i'm lao and i'm used to pasa lao lol sounds straight lao to me but obviously slight differences even in lao theres different dialects
When I visit Laos, I speak Thai to the Laos', they understand Thai perfectly, because they only watch Thai TV and listen to Thai music. They are kind people and it sounds, to me, more like a Chiang Mai dialect. Thais will know better than me. Nice interview.
Ahaha she definitely does not have any of our Canadian accents, eh! But that doesn’t make her any less Canadian, you know….eh. Her accent is classic hybrid from international school.

@@OneNightinBangkok_ Wow, amazing! My father was a Harvard / MIT graduate so we visited there every year when we flew back to Boston for summer vacation. In relation to nightclubs, what find really frustrating is that all the nightclubs mentioned, listed on the Internet or RUclips are Western styled nightclubs or nightclubs for the children of the Bangkok urban elites. It is very difficult to find the urban night club where the ordinary local people go. The best time I had was at a nightclub in think was Thon Buri. I was in Soi Cowboy and I talking to someone who said that they had a friend who was dancing with a band performing that night. So I bar fined the person we got a taxi, about midnight, to the venue which was in the middle of nowhere in urban Bangkok. Must have been 500+ motorbikes parked outside. Band came on at about 1:00am. First thing was a nation anthem was played, with flag very strange as not Thai nation anthem or flag. May have been the Lao flag anthem before the Communists took it over. Anyway the band was very good, it looked like the band had been playing for 20 years at every dive bar in Thailand. Still playing at 5:00am. The music, venue and the crowd seemed to be what I imagined the Chitlin' Circuit must have like in the US. It was amazing. 😂
Australian Law is the same as the US. If you work overseas, you have to file a tax return. If you are working and paying, say 20% in XYZ country, then you have to pay the balance owed under Aust Tax Law which might be another 10%. Thai village life sounds very similar to the Pacific Islands. Very family focused. Livestock walking around etc. What is sad is the fact that westerners can exploit the less fortunate.
Not lazy grafters, my thai wife is a nurse in the uk, she does 60 hours a week, works 5x 12 hours days and house work/ cooking on two days off. Uk would be massively better off offering work to Asia people from Thailand instead of Eastern Europe and Muslims sitting on benefits and trying to change the uk the same as there failed country. Thai family culture they have it so right and there so nice. Very grounded salt of the earth thai people.
Spoken like a true bigot huh. I have worked with alot of hard working Muslims in South East Asia. You are just a typical farang who is a loser from your own country hahahaha.
Sad Alice’s dad didn’t learn Thai to communicate with her since they were in Thailand. My dad knew a bit of Thai but I grew up in the UK so we all spoke English. I can’t imagine a parent not being able to communicate with their child
You should learn how to juggle questions between all your guest so the rest won’t sit around bored while you’re just drilling one person with questions
indeed,It seem like he was flirting with that one with his eyes.He got a crush on that one girl.Dude should have just had her on the show instead of calling the other girls to be on his show with her.lol

Thanks for watching
Im afraid the one girl Is not so natural, too much facial surgery it's a shame as this is mostly a result of thai status and to much instagram pressure... basically not confident in one's skin and trying to be something your not. Sad to see but in Thailand women mostly think being beautiful is what you see on the outside
love your show. very different from other channels
Thanks for watching!
As a Canadian, you don’t have to pay Canadian taxes if you declare non residence and don’t live in Canada and not entitled to the Canadian social benefits. As long as you return to Canada and pay taxes then you are entitled to the benefits.
You are confused about non-residency and taxes
Every year you're a non-resident of Canada you lose OAS payment later. Never become a non-resident it's stupid
@@mactravel112 most people are... There's residency and there's tax residency. Unfortunately, we're all a tax resident somewhere.
I agree with this 100%
Best podcast you have done 👍🏼
Thank you 🙏
Brilliant one of your best 👍😊
Thanks for watching 👏👏👏
This is a very unique channel and I hope it’ll grow, keep developing on quality of intriguing guests and subjects and maintain the upscale style without being pretentious. The potential of this show goes beyond anything that is currently available on life in Thailand. Go E & E!
Thanks for the comment 🙏
Great interview. These ladies gave a lot of valuable insight into Thai culture that would be hard to learn otherwise.
What is the word that Alice mentioned at about 46:12 into the video? It sounded something like "ngoen mūn". Is this spelled เงินหมุน in Thai?
I'm not sure but I would like to find out myself
@@OneNightinBangkok_ I've learned some really spicy vocabulary from your recent interviews, but I feel like I could get into some trouble using it in polite company!
Yes, she said เงินหมุน. A literal translation is revolving/rotating money which means cash flow that needs to suffice for a period of time usually monthly.
Alice tells the absolute truth about Thailand and the issues of women there!
Great interview! I really enjoyed it!
Thanks for checking it out
Interesting convo and good change of topic from nightlife etc. I didnt know much about Isaan until hearing the ladies talk about it here. Good stuff
Thanks for watching
This was real dope im hoping to move to Bangkok. You never know we might link up in the future.
That Canadian Alice girl is a star!!
Fantastic content and very interesting! It's good to see successful Thai women. Also, there are some good plugs for some new bars to check out. Keep up the awesome channel.
Thanks for watching 👍
Great Episode Eric !! Been a supporter since day one and it only gets better. Saw you at Starbucks Emquartier yesterday as I walked past. Was gunna say thanks for the great content 🙏

Hi Eric I love your podcast i'm a new subscriber so i'm watching old podcasts with the new ones and your new ep.027 and I have to say wow Earn , Dream, Alex these girls are very smart and so interesting and they are beautiful too love all the infos they given and you can't wait to see your next podcast have a nice day and stay safe. 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for watching
This is super interesting! Thanks to the lovely ladies and yourself for sharing.
Thanks for watching
Alice is truly a gem. Western mindset, speaks fluent Thai with a Thai passport. You are lucky to have her now before she becomes a Thai superstar.
Couldn’t agree more.
She's not rare, I'm Australian/Thai 😂❤
This is amazing. Great stuff. Really enjoyable.
Interesting new guest this week. Alice is very interesting and has an interesting background. I find her very articulate. Great job getting not only beautiful young ladies to contribute their thoughts on your show, but also super smart and well spoken.
Yes, she is very well spoken 👍
Three VERY lovely, smart, and composed ladies. Just wow.
Smart how? I didn’t see it.
Three great women. Too bad I am not that young anymore 😂
The Canadian girl has an incredible experience in both cultures, drive and energy. Kudos 😊
Thanks for watching
Im full Thai, born and raised in USA. I have teenage sons who are half white. I regret not taking them to Thailand when they were younger or teaching them Thai culture. They are 100% Americanized and have no idea of Thai culture.
Great video with the perfect team. Thanks. I really enjoyed the toilets part.
Beautiful girls!!!
Great episode. Part 2 needed! ❤
Great job 🎉

Canadian taxes for citizens who live abroad and work is based on their resident status in Canada. There is 5 resident status you can fall under and that what determine what taxes you pay or if you need to pay taxes. There is 100 countries with treaty where you don't get double taxed
I am 40 my parents grew up with outside toilets and remember when they moved to a house with electricity. My father had one electric plug in his house at one point. My dads parents had 7 children and my mothers parents 5.
Good episode 🎉
Thanks for checking it out 🙏
This was a banger
Hard to find this inside information on Thai culture
Thanks for watching
Inside Intel 😂❤
@@MeditateMeHigher lol 😅
Not sure with Canada, but USA and Thailand has dual taxation treaty, so not a problem for US citizens
@@888connection5 Depending on which country, some can work up to a month or take visa for 3 months
Watch how fast your views on this grow, great episode!
Thanks for the support 🙏
Canada is nothing like she thinks.
It’s gotten very very expensive and the free health care is not as good as one would think.
Couldn’t pay me to live there. Canada is a confused, frigid mess
She did say it was expensive.
Yeah, but try the US where there is no government medical coverage for poor people. People lose everything if they get sick.
@@mactravel112 She dont know no better.Soon as she mention she will retire in canada instead of thailand i knew she was confused. They didnt teach her nothing in that international business school.lol
indeed,Canada is only a place to visit not retire. They didnt teach her nothing in that business school. She should have just stayed in thailand.lol
Club over-view was appreciated on other channel much appreciate. Been to a couple mentioned a couple years ago. I think I ran my course due to age, though I still do bottle service at LIV in MB and attend Ultra and EDC. . Would appreciated coverage on Jazz Clubs, as that is now my slow-down flow.
Wow loved this interview, very interesting
🙏🙏🙏
Alice is beautiful and smart. She is going places and has a bright future
Yeah a bright future with me ;)
@@MikeO8585 you wish 🤣
Been in Thailand for nearly 40 years off and on and Alice knows what she is talking about. Of course she was educated around the world. Makes a big difference for anyone born in any culture.
Very good podcast! Subscribed ✌️
I am making bookmark for Baccarat and few other places in BKK for my next visit ^^
I'm also thai living in Thailand but their experiences sound so different from mine. no one around me wanna have kids. may be because i grew up in Bangkok.
Very good program for typical raw farangs, to understand what normal Thai life is.
Thanks for watching
1st time watching this channel n this was great; looking into the lives of young women n families in Thailand.
Tks for the sharing Ladies!! Now I'm a fan of this channel.
Oh n Alice reminds me so much of singer Michelle Branch (for those who remembers her). And can i say she looks better in person here than in her IG? Lol 😂❤
Thanks for watching
i must say.. i ACTUALLY like this kind of podcast.. really2 good insight. Minute 52:32 to 53:07 really hit me hard..
Thanks for watching
Charlie's Thai Angels. Good lord!
Thanks for watching
Great episode
so funny how in thai its called "pasa esan" but i'm lao and i'm used to pasa lao lol sounds straight lao to me but obviously slight differences even in lao theres different dialects
When I visit Laos, I speak Thai to the Laos', they understand Thai perfectly, because they only watch Thai TV and listen to Thai music. They are kind people and it sounds, to me, more like a Chiang Mai dialect. Thais will know better than me. Nice interview.
The way Alice says “you knooo” definitely a Canadian accent 🤣🤣
Ahaha she definitely does not have any of our Canadian accents, eh! But that doesn’t make her any less Canadian, you know….eh. Her accent is classic hybrid from international school.
😂
Another really good video. Thanks.
When did G-Eazy stop making music and move to Thailand and start a podcast?
Haha not the first time someone has said that to me
Part 2 please 🙏🏽
Will try to make it happen
Your intro song is a banger🧨🎊🔥
🔥
First girl is bomb 💣 and I like the way she speak English sounds like my cool aunt in San Diego, California. 😂😍
The girl on the right went to the school that i taught at 13 years ago.. called APIS. Its very interesting to see her and what she went on to
Hi Eric,
Do you miss eating Boston Clam Chowder and shopping @ The Coop in Harvard Square?
Earn is my neighbor @ Lat Phrao so I see her often when she has Isaan food near her condo.
To be honest I used to have clam chowder maybe once per year - and I never went to the Coop!
@@OneNightinBangkok_
Wow, amazing!
My father was a Harvard / MIT graduate so we visited there every year when we flew back to Boston for summer vacation. Great place to shop for clothes and books for the next school year.
I always enjoyed Clam chowder and fried clams whenever we visited. Even driving as far away as Peabody and waiting in line (queue) for an hour at our favorite restaurant.
I've lived here 20+ years and enjoy your podcasts.
Alice is a dime!
Great podcast!!
I'm trying to find the name of a city mentioned. Near bkk but has a chill beach ..
Night and day difference between listening to Eastern ladies like this and listening to Westerners on Fresh and Fit
🤣 you are 1,000% correct.
What is sad is the fact that westerners can exploit the less fortunate.
kind of a traveller…. from pole to pole north to south area ❤❤
east to west ❤❤
you guys are crushing it
Thanks 🙏
Alice is smart af.
You can find asholes and lazy people everywhere
Spoken like a true bigot huh. I have worked with alot of hard working Muslims in South East Asia. You are just a typical farang who is a loser from your own country hahahaha.
She is a human... not your slavery
That's a Thai living abroad but the local Thais here are mostly super lazy
Sad Alice’s dad didn’t learn Thai to communicate with her since they were in Thailand. My dad knew a bit of Thai but I grew up in the UK so we all spoke English. I can’t imagine a parent not being able to communicate with their child
You should learn how to juggle questions between all your guest so the rest won’t sit around bored while you’re just drilling one person with questions
Agreed! Love the pod and this episode, but it was a bit poorly planned having them sit there the entire time while one person shares her experiences
Yeah, I noticed that. But he's learning.
Yeh. Maybe develop a list of main topics and then get input from each participant and then go on to the next topic.
indeed,It seem like he was flirting with that one with his eyes.He got a crush on that one girl.Dude should have just had her on the show instead of calling the other girls to be on his show with her.lol
@@playthis5994 Earn and Dream have been in previous shows and this was Alice’s first appearance (and she had a lot to say)
This episode is way more interested than the episode you did with Rae lil black 🥴
