Great tutorial! My mom taught me the hammer trick on jeans. I have also used a pair of long-nosed pliers to squeeze down the material. I also have an alterations shop. I am always looking for new tips and techniques. You are very informative! Thank you.😊
You are amazing! I always learn so much from watching your videos. I especially love that you want the customers to be happy with your work so you go the extra mile. Watching from Kentucky.
I love this! I just happen to be ready to hem some jeans for myself today, and I will use this method! Also, the hammer trick….brilliant! Thank you for your amazing videos! I do alterations for my adult kids only (7 sons!), and am willing to do it the way they want too!
As usual, job well done. I would go to this extreme for a customer, which I have learned from you. But for me personally -- not. LoL. Glad you are back.
I would definitely never do this for myself, but I agree with you that if a customer is willing to pay, I will do any level of complicated job. For myself though, I actually almost never do alterations! If something doesn’t fit, I just buy something else that does fit. Because I know how much work it is and I don’t feel like it’s worth it! I do repairs for myself, but almost never alterations.
I understand your point, and it was exactly my point until recently. But lately, I have to admit that it is becoming increasingly impossible to buy clothes that really fit. This is why I have accepted that I'll have to make some adjustments to the garments I buy, mostly when I get them online. Cheers 🥰🥰🥰
@@DowntownTailoring That’s true, but I don’t need to buy clothes very often so I feel like I can be as picky as I want! I also force the clothes I have to last a long time. I have three pairs of athletic pants that were the right length when I got them because they were from the kids’ section. I’ve had them almost 10 years and I keep repairing them because the style I like is not in fashion for kids right now! So I’m stubbornly waiting for the style to come back around, rather than buying adult pants that would be too long, or buying a style I don’t like.
Great job! No. I would not take it on. If I was younger, I probably would. I lived more dangerously then. LOL. Now, my hands aren't as strong. I don't like to take on jean hems. I refer them to my younger friends who love to do alterations of that kind.
Is there a version of this beautiful hem that can be done to shorten pants by 3 or4”? I’m 5’4” and my pants are always too long. Also I need to learn to hem stretch pants.
Hi! Yes. You can watch this video. It explains step by step how to shorten the jeans, keeping the original hem. ruclips.net/video/IjD9fyoDJEk/видео.html Cheers 🥰
@@DowntownTailoring Thank you, first time diving into sewing . I would like to get pretty good at it to pass it along to the next generation. Your channel is so helpful.
For me - too much work for just half an inch! 😳 I'd just live with it. If it needed shortening by one inch or more, I'd cut off and then hem (with the exact match for thread). Of course I don't need to satisfy customers 🤣
this is the nicest euro hem i've ever seen
Wow! Thanks so much 💕

Using pliers to squeeze down the material is brilliant! Thanks for sharing 🤗
I love that you are willing to do what the customer is willing to pay for. End of story.
Thanks so much 💕
As an old lady I was surprised what young people will pay for a hem. Up to $25-30$ !! No wonder they come to me for a 7 $ hem.
That looks amazing. Especially for stitching such a small hem change and still using the original hem.
Thank you! 😊
Thank you. Great information for me as i always have to make things shorter. And I love the idea of the hammer, i would never have thought of that.
Glad it was helpful! 🥰🥰🥰
I would definitely use the Euro hem method in my personal jeans!!!
Yess! It’s more work at the beginning but it feels so good after it is done! 🥰🥰🥰
Beautiful. Yes I would do it too
Thank you! 😊
Nice work!
Yes I do that method. And match thread as well
Love Your Show!
Best Always!

What an amazing Job. Yes I would do this hem, especially with the way you explained so clearly. Thank you 😊
Thanks so much 😊

If you need to shorten more than 1/2". This method will be better 😉

I didn't know it could be done! Thanks for sharing
No problem 👍
It looks great!
Thank you! Cheers!
Looks great 😮
Thanks so much! 💓
Beautiful job! Seems like a lot of work for a pair of shorts but the principle appplies to any jeans that need shortening..
Yes it does! Thanks ☺️
Beautiful work! You are an amazing seamstress.

Looks good...
Thanks 😊
Perfect
Wow! Nice work! Amazing. You need to love them a lot, or have them pay a lot! Maybe both😄❤️
Yes! They aren't cheap and they'll be my customer's to go short for the summer. A little effort made them perfect 👌
Amazing 😊
Thanks 😊

What sewing machine do you use
Both machines in this video are industrial Juki. One a little older than the other. Cheers 😊
Do you have tutorials on how to transform jeans into skirts for all ages?
I have to make a video about it! Stay tuned 😉
