From Dougie's banshee scream at 6:45 until Ritchie's head is about to explode from so gradually speeding it up to where his nerves are pushed to the limit climax...Yes. Yes. Yes. This is it fans. This is it.
Rockpalast has the greatest audio/visual quality of any rock concerts I have seen. I bought this as a VHS in the late 90's. Astounding and then Ritchie ended thee electric and went into his middle earth phase...whatever. But this period is captured most excellently. This is my favorite track. He's warmed up and ready to explode. Brilliant. Dougie is a fitting vocalist and great band too.. But Ritchie got seduce by the charming lady who sings on ARiel.
I don't know this band, I didn't mean this when I searched for "Hall of the mountain King live", but this is pretty epic. Pretty funny how when they are actually playing with devotion, all the theatrics disappear and they are just really concentrated. No emotion, just focusing on getting the notes right, and then after the hard part is over for them they relax and let loose. Amazing.

Doogie White, a dork? He was meant for that incarnation of Rainbow. An excellent vocalist and musician. You have to be a special person to work with Ritchie Blackmore. Ritchie has a rough sense of humour and not many people understand him musically and personally. He has a protege named Yngwie Malmsteen, who would have thought it?

As far as I know he put this band together and that was the end of his ELECTRIC days. And this tune...whoa. I usually played this song twice. Doogie who? I never heard of him. Not the greatest voice, whatever, but he delivered. And Ritchie pulled out all the stops on this one. He really pushed on this concert stage. Memories saved.

Ritchie's best. Period. I don't think he is the best but he is great and here he is striving at his best. This is what makes it a great eXIT to his electric period. I don't know why he came back. He'll never top this last tour with Dougie with his youth and striving as well. Great contrast and tension. The combo with this band here can not be topped in Ritchie's career. Yes, I've been there since In Rock or whatever...this is Ritchie refined and pulling out all the stops with his playing alone. Got it on VHS in 98 and was so pleased.... Gotz to hear this on a bad long night still.

I dont know. Hes dumped a plethora of rock legends. Gotta wonder if hes not the problem. Just saying, I like his music over the years but never got along well with his personnel very well. Gillan,Glover,Evans,Simper,Hughes,Dio,Coverdale.
I understand the confusion, as Gillian has a voice that rivals anyone, but Doogie's voice is awesome and a better fit for Rainbow. Also, his work ethic is way beyond Gillian. I understand that is one reason Balckmore left Deep Purple, because he was fed up with Gillian's constant problem of forgetting lyrics during concerts.
