Of course the singer is amazing, you can not duplicate Dio's voice effectively without being extremely talented and unique or you'll just sound embarrassing and this singer did an excellent job with a very hard song for even Dio to do live in his peak years but of course did but it's a vocal chord nightmare and a testament to the great Dio 🤘🏼❤
I can’t believe the drummer forgot one of the most all time great drum intros by the late great cozy Powell that’s a shame
They didn't do the intro on the first tour and that indeed also bummed me out. But during the 2017 tour and 2018 he did do the intro as it's suppose to be played.
But he also had a much larger drumkit for the 2017 and 2018 tours, with twin pedals and a double bass set. The drumkit he played on this tour was dreadful and sad to say the least.
He did it on Russian gigs in 2018 \m/ Check for my channel.

For the record and to set facts straight. Cozy never played he full into live back in the day either. Another point here on people thinking the 2016 drum kitt was too small. Well what size kit do you think Ian Paice played for all of the classic Deep Purple Mk 2 years ?
Ritchie Blackmore might not have the fire inside himself to play the guitar like he used to, but I am still happy that he came back to rock music after almost twenty years since he stopped playing Rock music. He has given us so many years of phenomenal performances in the past and the music he has created is some of the most incredible music ever made in my opinion. He didn't even reform Rainbow because he needed the money. He did it for the fans and to have some fun. I know many fans are not happy with this version of Rainbow, but considering the music that has come out in the last twenty years this is Phenomenal. I bought both Memories In Rock 1 and 2 live albums, and I also bought the Live In Birmingham 2016 album. I enjoy listening to all three live albums because it has a mix of both Rainbow and Deep Purple songs. The lead singer Ronnie Romero was a great choice and he did a great job.

Let's face it - the fans were not gonna be happy with anything Blackmore puts together these days. They never forgave him for Blackmore's Night - which is unfortunate. They're a magical band regardless.

It's a bit tough seeing Ritchie not being the best guitarist in the freakin world, but you can still hear glimpses of the past glory. Plus, it is always an honor watching him. An absolute genius.

Romero is a great Dio clone (not as good as the original though)... but this band is asleep. I had the great fortune to see Rainbow play this tune on the Rising tour back in 1976 at the Beacon Theater... Cozy was a monster. The band was on fire. And Ritchie was transcendent... by comparison this is tough to watch... still love Ritchie though.. As far as I'm concerned he can do whatever he want's. He doesn't owe anybody anything. The man carved Rock and Roll history. The world is better for it.
Blackmore is one of the main pillars of contemporary guitar, he’s awesome. I wouldn’t call Romero a dio clone tho, his career just started taking off a few years back there’s a lot more of him to come I’m sure. Dio in my opinión was at his peak with rainbow and the first two solo albums, after that he fell short. He sure is a legend but he’s way too overrated. But that’s just my opinion. Would have love to see rainbow back in their prime tho.

Rainbow isn't quite what it used to be, but Ritchie is 73 years old after all so i guess what did i expect. Rhythm section is lacking serious punch and Ritchie's playing is really sloppy and he forgot to turn on the gain pedal. Taking bunch of young musicians worked for him in the 90's Rainbow lineup, but this time i think ritchie himself might be the weakest link. Props for Ronnie Romero, he does pretty incredible job here.

I read a lot of comments concerning Richie's playing, saying that his playing has diminished with age. I disagree. It's not "age", but whether he is inspired. Richie is a very improvisational player, and rarely, if ever, plays solos as originally recorded. When he's inspired, Richie plays masterpieces. If he's not in the mood, he doesn't.

This song is one of my favorites. I didn't think any after Dio would be able to get close to him, but Romero does. There is no emotion 45 years ago in the group but time is running and no one is young. Poor performance by Richie. Years do not forgive. However, the legend Ritchie Blackmore will always remain. I've always liked the fantasy of playing a guitar. I love the guitar because of it. Two or three generations of guitarists are inspired by it. Rock is alive to guitarists like Richie.

Tenho que concordar! Stargazer era fantástica pela bateria característica do cozy, vocal impecável do Dio e a guitarra vibrante do Ritchie, Batera tentou improvisar mas estragou a introdução clássica. Mas o vocal desse cara tá fantástico.

Which Rainbow is the real one? They never had the same lineup for even two studioalbums... Just saying.
I saw them at the O2 in 2017. I do wonder if he'd been better to hire "known" musicians or even some ex-Rainbow members for this version of the band, but who knows.. He is a rather enigmatic person, I recall him saying that he wouldn't have reunited with Deep Purple if it was to purely perform "nostalgia", yet this is what he is now doing with "Rainbow". I'm still a fan, but just don't believe everything he does is brilliant.
Good on Ritchie for strapping on the Strat again.

Is that how he learned to treat his own band like shit. He paid Vivian Campbell peanuts and promised to pay him after three years and then fired him when it came time to back up his promise. You mean the same Dio that complained about Blackmore's naming Rainbow after himself then he went on to start a band named Dio. I love Dio but he was a bitter man at the end and did the same things that he accused Blackmore of doing. Nothing worse than a hypocrite, really.

"Ronnie didn't fire him. I fired. He wanted as much money as Ronnie wanted. He thought he was as important as Ronnie was, and that was just wrong."

Cant stand a lot of the comments here. Ritchie is 73 years old; you really expect him to play at the same speed he did back in the 70s? this was still an awesome performance and I would still love seeing it live.
There was the awesome Dio Rainbow, the adult contemporary Rainbow and now the Las Vegas tribute Rainbow.
