I met Ronnie JamesDio. I was a big fan. I had seen Rainbow, at the Rainbow, Findsbury Park. Ritchie Blackmore, probs the fastest and best guitarists after Michael. Cook (I.Q.), did a 3 minute encore strop, moody fuck, dissing his band, I was backstage, at Wembley, with Iron Maiden. They recorded daughter to the slaughter,.after the gig, was in the dressing room with Dave and Adrian, VIP passes so security very polite and access all areas, in walks a very big man, turfs us out, VIP, what? Oh, of course, five foot Ronnie and two six foot bouncers minced in, flipping Diva,. Great vocalist. He helped to revive Sabbath. God bless you RJD but.
The music Ronnie and Richie made together is remarkable and I only hope Richie can look back and see the magic he was part of with the early Rainbow members and the mark it left in rock & roll.
Totally agree. I remember when this first came out. I thought this was the best Rainbow album. And this was the best song. For me its still one of my best kick ass rock songs of all time. RIP Dio!!
I saw Ronnie in sacred heart tour and omg he was fabulous one of the best concerts ever now in Rainbow with my favorite guitar player in the world ever would have been spectacular! Miss you Ronnie you made me happy with your mystical presence!! R.I.P
Had the great pleasure of seeing this lineup play this song as a 16yo in late November 1976 in Adelaide on the Australian leg of their world tour. Was my first international band rocket concert. It left a lasting impression on me as they were the best live rock band in the world at the time. I can 'see' those 2 magnificent backdrops & the moving rainbow. It was stunning!
My brother and I were at that concert, Festival Centre. Best venue in Adelaide. Awesome sound, spectacular show with that Rainbow. Will never forget Cozy's 1812 drum solo. Just astonishing. What a superb group of musicians!!!!!
I have enjoyed this Concert on the 27.9.1976 in Düsseldorf/Phillipshalle. A friend of mine take a record on a SABA cassette recorder- but this here is much better from the quality! Thanks for this! Generaly Ritchi play Stargazer not often in this Concert Tour. And Ronnie James Dio(RIP) was a Lyrical Highlight! And we will also Remember Craig Gruber(Bass on the 1. Album- Rainbow) who dies of cancer aged 63 in April 2015. The Line up of this tour was: Ronnie James Dio> Vocals Tony Carey > Keyboard Cozy Powell > Drums (RIP) Jimmy Bain > Baß Ritchie Blackmore > Guitarre The best deal was Cozy at this time. His Solo Projekts flopps- and he need a new job. Now the man in Black circeld the rules of Membershipping. I`ver saw Concerts in Colonge 1978 , but this doesn't mach this Concert in Düsseldorf.
Sting (police) played in Argentina in the 80s, The military Junta was still ruling and you probably know Sting always was very involved with human rights, so probably Rainbown did not play due another reason
Yep, and there was also a Queen concert in Argentina, they even mentioned the regime in their documentary, with the soldiers walking around, many of them on the stadium, too.
I'm sure they tweaked this song multiple times live, but this is pretty damn good. Sounds like it's in a different key. The haunting backing on the solo is great too. And considering this is not even a polished, top-notch recording, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thx for posting.

My favorite rendition of the song ever, the long keyboard intro keeps you in anticipation and the extra riffs before singing begins fit so well, always felt like the original song's intro was a bit rushed.
Asmodeus- The Great Dumbing Down is what has happened. It’s a lifelong plan begun in the late 1950’s and gone Full Wide Open Throttle by the Mideast 1960’s. Today’s noise & idiocy overall is the result.😢

Just to see him fly
Look at my flesh and bone
Now, look, look, look, look,
Look at his tower of stone
I see a rainbow rising
Look there, on the horizon
And I'm coming home, I'm coming home, I'm coming home
Time is standing still
He gave back my will
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Going home
I'm going home
My eyes are bleeding
And my heart is leaving here
But it's not home
But it's not home
Ooh
Take me back
He gave me back my will
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Going home
I'm going home
My eyes are bleeding
And my heart is leaving here
But it's not home
But it's not home
Ooh
Take me back, take me back
Back to my home ooh, ooh, ooh
Tony Pooyappallil yes...fantastic lyrics..

Thanks 😊 for your music ❤️
I can't believe he could do this live! Sounds just like the album!
Live in Fukuoka..yt.
Too bad there won't be another singer like this nor another guitarist like Richie they are unique, this song is a work of art
Hear that kids? That's when real musicians wrote and performed their own songs without dancers. They played their own instruments masterfully, and put on incredible shows! So fortunate to see this concert at Glendale's Starlight Amphitheater in 1976. Great show!
You've got amazing memories
This is too the power of great music, reaches us all at a deeper level than we really never really fully appreciated until it's gone
Cozy Powell was just a stud on the drumset
Love this pics of Ritchie, always an axe in his hand
Who said strata don't sound good!? Fukn Steve Vai don't know shit
I was there on this Tour in Ludwigshafen in the Eberthall, it was absolutly great!
The definitive Rainbow song and the seed from which modern power metal blossomed. Long live Rock and Roll! Long live Dio!
The best song ever , and the outro on rainbow rising album is out of this world
Saw them 30yrs. ago, dios vocals were powerfull, Blackmores solos were blistering,3 thousand seats only, I mean heads, you stood right in front of the stage it was weird,Richfield Colliseum, 4 lilly f-40s then they were called REDS.concert was fantastic..Axeflyer MD.
God bless you RJD but.
i was there. unforgettable
Enjoyed Rainbow on oct 4,1977 in Scheveningen(the Hague). They were fantastic!!!
Thank you lord, for being alive and having met this band.
The music Ronnie and Richie made together is remarkable and I only hope Richie can look back and see the magic he was part of with the early Rainbow members and the mark it left in rock & roll.
The first three Rainbow albums are fucking great they are so underrated. I could listen to Stargazer or Gates of Babylon all day
Wow! Awesome version, probably my favorite live recording of this song. Passionate, heavy but effortless at the same time.
Cool intro. I love the synthesizers!
)
That was fucking awful!
It was way too long
It's a cool little jam. It makes sense in a live setting, but I wouldn't want it on an album if that makes sense.
Good old times ...i'm nostalgia when i listen this track..i feel so old now...
The Line up of this tour was:
Ronnie James Dio> Vocals
Tony Carey > Keyboard
Cozy Powell > Drums (RIP)
Jimmy Bain > Baß
Ritchie Blackmore > Guitarre
The best deal was Cozy at this time. His Solo Projekts flopps- and he need a new job.
Now the man in Black circeld the rules of Membershipping.
I`ver saw Concerts in Colonge 1978 , but this doesn't mach this Concert in Düsseldorf.
cie kay i got the full düsseldorf concert in same quality as this one. im able to upload it if you want. :)
They were never in Argentina unfortunatelly
I envy you in a good way
These musicians are unmatched, iconic band
+maxxblade Good gosh, upload it, such a concert should be shared. :D
Прекрасно! Замечательно! Чудесно! Охренительно!!!
« Stargazer and Catch the Rainbow » are my first songs for Ronnie🔥I’m Yesterday 20 years💕and for me, NO LET’S GO, i almost find you on « YOU TUBE », thank’s 🌈🥰
Amazing Tony Carey solo.
What a voice first live vocal I’ve heard from this period of his career
a band like this only comes around once every thousand years,or so.
No one even close to Ritchie!!! Great Ronnie, Cozy and Tony. Just magic.
Incredible song the album version is perfection.
Holy Jesus just found this. Daaamn its just freaking awasome. So much ahead of the time! I was born in 89 but bands like this is My kind of music!!! 😎🤘🤘🤘 Oh an R. I. P dio 😢😢😢
Its nice to know younger people like this stuff.
Ritchie was truly something special.
I like the ending of Ronnie’s vocals on the record ...plays with your heartstrings 🤘
This is beautiful D: , especially Tony's keyboards
I am only 11 years old but this is one of the best songs of all time
Rock on mate
go to bed. it's late.
Rock on Luca, don't let this music die with us old guys! Make sure they hear this in 2060!
Hi Luca...I just wanted to let you know that you are 100% correct...Best of the best. Keep rocking young man!!!
Good Music will never die!
My favorite rendition of the song ever, the long keyboard intro keeps you in anticipation and the extra riffs before singing begins fit so well, always felt like the original song's intro was a bit rushed.
Ronnie mientras sigamos vivos alguno de tus fans nunca estarás muerto
The music to grow up with and share. There's nothing like this anymore.
Excelente, Rainbow sin duda la mejor banda de rock de todos los tiempos.
When the music was special!! Mid 70’s what an era!!
This is amazing. What has happened to mainstream music. We went from genius like this to total garbage.
Asmodeus- The Great Dumbing Down is what has happened. It’s a lifelong plan begun in the late 1950’s and gone Full Wide Open Throttle by the Mideast 1960’s. Today’s noise & idiocy overall is the result.😢
6years later it is even more garbage..
Oh no, brother! Please listen to „the stage“ , or the good and old „art of life“ from X-japan!
No, there are so many, you do not know!
Because of the lame rap crap kids don’t listen to hard rock or metal anymore. There wiggers now
Actually Europe is there to save us. Scandinavia and Germany especially are literally holding. Also helps that bands like Slipknot are becoming mainstream.
This was the line-up that had magic. After that it was just business, which is usual in rock & roll.
ich war damals dort (Messehalle in Langwasser) und das mit dem Regenbogen war eine geile Show!
I was 9 yrs old when this came out. I Wish I was old enough to see this tour... The music and the bands in this time frame... Man!!
Wonderful!!! I had never heard stargazer live before !!!
Rainbow's songs allways have some magic in sound. When I was young man I talked with one old russian hippy. He said: if you listen Rainbow you can't be a bad man. Probably, its true
Very correct statement by this hippy guy. He knows something..
one of the most pivotal bands to come from this time period . just absolutelty astounding . amazing talent just unmatched? and now DIO, COZY IS NOW STARGAZING DOWN ON US? RIP?
