My bother from another mother. I am glad you showed this as I have one similar to this and I just ordered a cheaper studio michrophone for a trial from Amazon. I have been using my d 104 with it and every one says I am load but wanted to be better sounding. It will be deli cred today and I will be on air with it hopefully this evening. I love the info from. Not many people realize the SRA-198 mic has a high fidelity element . Remove the low cut filter inside mic[cap and inductor] if your radio can or has been modified to pass low frequencies[below 250 hrz.]
204 thank you for the review! Looking to get one to run it with a stock 636L ....I liked what it did to just a stock mic, and frankly.....like you mentioned, it will still sound better than any regular CB (power) mic. Will be looking to upgrade to studio mic down the road but at the moment..... will be good with just an Astatic 636 noise cancelling mic into. If possible.... any chance you can post more videogates of how it sounds (on top of what we heard in the earphones) Thanks!
Which microphone are you using? I purchased a Heil hand mike that has good clarity, but lacks punch. It definitely needs a processor of some sort for the TRC-449 I am trying to use it with. Buying another microphone to complement the UR6QW is not a problem, though.
I've been planning out all the things I needed to do in order to run a studio mic with my Stryker 955 I use as a base. This popped up in my suggestion and I took the time to watch it. I checked it out on ebay and it's a nice price. Thanks for the video!! It's made it much easier!
I have not. my antenna setup failed, so i have been without a base. I am saving that for a winter project. I will be purchasing this along with a new antenna and studio mic.
@@103realtree2 I hope you get your antenna so you can get back to broadcasting. With a studio mic and that EQ system you will sound great. It might take some playing around to get it sounding how you like it. Easy way is using another radio with headphones and testing out your equipment. Then you can set the audio how you want it. Everyone will ask what your running because it sounds so good.
I've got one of these on order now to see how it works in my diesel mobile. Looked through your videos didn't see the key box you mentioned. Do you have a video of it ?
This is version 6 which does not have phantom power, version 7 has phantom power and a touch screen display. You can run this just as a key box, phantom powered mic into real mixer, real mixer with XLR cable to 3.5mm stereo jack into the little EQ. Works perfect.
Ok .. so how do you eliminate the mic element ? What do you clip inside the mic so it’s just a push to talk key for the studio mic ? I have the equalizer , plenty of spare mics to sacrifice,, just need to get me a studio mic and correct cabling . .
What power supply for the mic iam getting the xlr990 mic and the power supply from sweet water I got the Eq like yours so mic will have it's on power and Eq will have it's on
Thank you for the informational video.. I have a question? I've been wanting to run this in my tractor trailer with a 955 or 497. I want that close fm audio. Would this work good in a semi? I think if I use a studio mic it's going to pick up to much background noise..
Yes, it would work great. Especially since this mixer has a noise gate function and with it turned up it eliminates background noise without effecting the vocals. I know two guys who run this mixer in their mobiles and they sound great, they both use stock mics instead of a studio mic. 73
Nothing wrong with some noise canceling with the SRA-198, plus the noise gate on the mixer. Yeah, it will sound good with some fine tuning, if need be just pause my video and Mark my settings on the knobs, and then take it from there bud. Come on back with some reports after you got it rockin. 73
@@GroundControl204 thanks again and sorry for all the back and forth. I have a little 1 channel 48v supply. Think it cost $20..so was just trying to get clarification
So many questions.... I have a Stryker SR-497 I set up as a base, sitting under a Solarcon-2000 and the pair works great! Ive since been researching using some other audio gear I have which includes a Mackie ProFx mixer, Shure SM7B mic and a Rhode Boom I’ve had for years and was trying to figure out if this would work to incorporate to my Stryker. On Air Designs had a perfect cable option but I think he may be out of business as I can’t get a hold of him. It would seem to be a bit overkill having the eq when I have eq on the mixer but if this is my only option I would grab one today!
Yes I know a few fellas who use this just for keying the radio specifically, so it goes mic into real mixer, real mixer out into the mixer in my video and then into the radio. Those guys sound great and still running the same setup. 73
That’s a great question brother, honestly it’s all how your radio has been tuned. If it’s factory tuned(Stock) then I suggest the mic gain on your radio should be at 12 o’clock to 1 o’clock on the dial. Now if it’s been tuned by a tech it would completely depend on where they had the mic gain at while they were tuning. I personally tune radios with the mic gain all the way up, internally I turn down the modulation for 105% without distortion or clipping, so when the owner gets his radio back there is no way he will over modulate unless he screams in the mic or adds a power mic and jacks up the gain on that. You get what I’m saying I’m sure👍🏻 Thanks for stopping by my channel, hope this helps. 73
Very good info, I have looked at this equalizer before. Thanks , now I am going to purchase one. I want to use it on "Old Radio Night" on my channel. I like the key up you have, an if it is not a secret where did you get it. Ok- have a safe week. No covid 19.
The noise toy is actually one of the original “copy cat” modules, on the back of my radio there is a record button and it will record anything the mic picks up and repeats it on every key down. 73
With V6 and using the mini stereo jack for mic input it is not necessary to use a phantom powered mic, there are some condenser mics that still operate without 48v phantom power like the BM800, sound quality isn’t as good but at least you can do away with that extra power supply. I still recommend v7 equalizer with the touch screen and running a phantom powered condenser microphone, also v7 comes with internal phantom power as well which is a plus, I have a video on that EQ as well. 73
@@GroundControl204 thanks brother. Yea I got my v6 right before the v7 was released. Guess I may have to hit Sergey up again. Lol. Awesome video bro. Only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger is the BS that's going in Ukraine right now. I can wait. 73
@@GroundControl204 yeah let me know what he replies. Both me and friend are using them with Yaesu radios so may just be a difference in wiring for cb/multimode radios

Yes, that noise gate is awesome even more so with the V7. No background noise☑️
