    I bought on in1998, used it for 1 week on a couple different radios.
    Let's just say that it has been in its box ever since.
    It is of good quality, just not something that you need. Just plug the mic into your radio and talk :)
    Buy one, you'll see.

    I have version 4 without the noise gate(purchased new via eBay) using a Kenwood MC-90 into an RCI-2970N2. Been getting glowing audio reports.

    The problem here is that the rig used doesn't operate @ 3khz (or more) wide. On transceivers (mostly ham) that operate @ 3khz wide or more the results will be much better. Especially with the lows. 73

    • @user-vi6lw8dx5f
      @user-vi6lw8dx5f 3 года назад

      Zoo Yawk, If I understand you correctly. the transceiver needs that bandwidth of 3 khz wide in order to hear the difference. Then my question to you sir is there truly a difference in terms of having a hi fi sound? Thank WRo0959

  • @TheJ3builders
    @TheJ3builders 4 года назад +2

    these things are made well, on a PCB with surface mount components. The noise gate is worth the price in itself. Pair with a quality studio microphone and your rig will sound unbelievable. My only complaint is I would like to see one that has a headphone jack for audio output monitoring.

    • @TheJ3builders
      @TheJ3builders 4 года назад +2

      @stangmaster 2 I didn't ask if it was easy to add, or how I could monitor my audio in a half assed way. I simply said it would be nice to have as a factory feature. Also, if you break the seal on this unit or modify it in any way, the warranty is void, So go pound sand.

    Hey kids, do you want to be clean, clear and noticed on the radio? Are you jealous about your neighbor because he has a D104 and sounds real loud and of course is cranked to the max so it's very raspy and sounds like garbage? The D104 is a great microphone but often misused. For best results with any radio to monitor your transmit audio, you should set up another radio next to your main station and use headphones to hear yourself. If your into audio tweaks and adjustments with transmit audio without opening your own radio, this is for you. You will sound as good as you can with the limitations of your radio and microphone. I have other brands of this very similar item and I use it every time. I can now not go back to just a radio and microphone, because you will sound way too good to just go back to sounding like a 1907 telephone. Your turning your radio into a high quality sounding station, if you compare without a unit like this. Different radios and microphones sound different. Have fun and experiment with the radio hobby.

    I got the same box for my Icom with the mic and headphone jacks for a headset and ptt in the back for my foot switch
    I run a behringer B1 into the 3.5mm MIC jack and it sounds killer.
    The Icom SM20 sounds good plugged right in also.
    The only thing I dont like is I couldn't turn the gate off 100%. Its on a bit all the time. Other than that, the EQ works really good.
    Not sure what one breakerbroke had but the UR6QW version here has only been out a few years, no way this was out in 1998

    QUESTION?? I have watched several videos and read forums. They all talk about the 3.5mm jack in front and say it is for condenser mics but a few videos say NO phantom power. I will use an old stock mic for PTT and disable the element. Will the 3.5mm jack power my BM-800 condenser mic??? That is all I have for now. I just don't want to buy something and then have to buy something else to use it.
