Before the Internet and social media that Mizzy character would have been a complete unknown. Who the hell thought it was a good idea to invite him on Newsnight?
It was a great idea. Now more people know he is an absolute bellend!
we've got a planet full of the little fkrs now ....
Someone trying to be 'down with the kids'
Best ending has to be Paxman being forced to give the weather forecast - "It's a veritable smorgasbord. Sun. Rain. Thunder. Hail. Snow. Cold. Wind. Not worth going to work really." Perfect !!!
Andrew didn't really get owned. It was kinda a "self own"
Never been very bright...walking snobby disaster...sad.
As much as I dislike Hitchens I do get the argument. As an addict I think the worst thing you can do is act as if it’s something you can’t control and that you are powerless to change your life choices.
I’ve not overcome my own Alcohol addiction. I do what I can to keep it in check however I accept my actions are my own and I know the harm I’m causing myself.
I don’t ever believe I’ll be cured but whatever happens I take responsibility.
Well done....that is really the only way to cope with addiction.
Paxman's nickname is Paxo, because he can ' stuff ' you. 😆
No one wants to be an addict. I wish i could go back in time. I wouldnt be the person I am now. Addiction hasnt made my life better. I hate who i am. That doesnt mean im a horrible dangerous person. I just wish i wasnt the person i am.
I completely understand where you are coming from when you say that. I also empathize with you as well. Best of luck to you in the future regarding your addiction(s). ❤
My best wishes for you. You can't undo what you've done in life, but I truly hope that at least you can forgive and accept yourself.
@@megrez45 i didnt post that for sympathy. I wish i hadnt. I posted it & regretted it straight away. Im messed up. Sorry.
@@megrez45 i dont know what i have to forgive in myself. Thank you for replying. This is all messed up isnt it? Sorry.
@@adamaalto-mccarthy6984, do you know that you can remove your comment very easily? If you need any help with it, please let me know and I will help you. I’ve posted things I’ve regretted and I totally understand your feelings! For what it’s worth my eldest ( and fairly sensible ) eldest son, advised me that it’s best to never post in the comments section of RUclips, Apparently there are some horrible people who trawl the comments to find stuff to be vile about, though your replies seem very kind, at the time I’m writing this at least. xxx😊
Matthew Perry (RIP) held the same opinion as several people I know, some family, some friends, who have suffered from various forms of addiction regarding Peter Hitchens' question.
"How do people stop being addicts?"
The answer I was given was that they don't stop being addicts.
That's why they can't have the thing they are addicted to or they will do it until it harms them (Drinking = Passing out, Drugs = OD, gambling = losing the house etc...) or they get (and accept) the help they desperately need.
Even if it is just enough help to get through today...
Sadly, Peter has no class, charm, or charisma that his brother was famous for.
R.I.P. Matthew Perry.
I woulda said Scarsmoochie Scaramoochie can you do the fandango.
Mizzy isn’t a practical joker he’s a joke.

I thought it was going to say Perry got owned by Hitchins. He came off as a petulant child and he responded badly to hearing facts.
It's a left wing channel, you can't get any sensible content from a channel that would think Owen Jones is a voice of reason.
And there you have it, such a strong display of political bias that your entire comment becomes meaningless.
@@jayfrancis8728 the full interview is difficult to watch. In real life he had all Chandlers sarcasm but none of the wit.
@@stephenduckham9736 Well us lefties don't have the equivalent of [insertbigotednarcissist] because we listen to people for reasons other than neurotic catharsis and apathetic boredom.
Peter Hitchens was correct. You are standing on the edge of a cliff. You have a choice; step back or jump.
You decide to jump, then say it was not your fault that you were injured.
People have to grow up and face reality. Maintaining an infantile attitude is a guarantee of failure.
Standing on the edge of a cliff is not an addiction.
@@ClarkyGuitar Classic non-sequitur. Choosing to take drugs before you become addicted is the choice you make. Everything that happens from that point on is predicated on that choice. If you are stupid then you take the drugs. If you are able to predict the likely results you do not take the drugs. The choice is yours; you are responsible.
@@spikefunakoshi5667 That's a blinkered view. You don't understand the many, many reasons why people take drugs in the first place. You can't know all of the reasons every person who took drugs took them, and it certainly isn't stupidity that starts them all on the path of drugs.
@@ClarkyGuitar Another non-sequitur. I have zero interest in why someone decides to take drugs. That is their problem not mine. I am not a social worker or a professional bleeding heart. The simple fact is that they do decide to take drugs, and whatever happens from that point is their responsibility. They have been warned and informed numerous times about the predictable effects of drugs, and still they go ahead.
Hence my analogy about standing at the edge of a cliff. You decide to jump; when common sense tells you that being injured is guaranteed; that is a stupid act. An intelligent person would not jump. QED.
@@ClarkyGuitar I don't care why people choose to take drugs. I am not a social worker.
They choose to take drugs. They ignore the warnings, then things get worse because of their actions. Their choices dictate what happens. They are responsible.
Here’s an idea that I’m just gonna throw out there: maybe show a clip of the people doing what you’re saying they did rather than just saying what they did extensively and not actually showing what they did. Watchmojo does this with everything. I’m guessing you either don’t have copyright rights or are self important or both. If you’re going to make commentary videos you really need to show what it is you’re commentating on otherwise it’s just you commentating on something with a limited context. Nothing you’ve shown in this video suggests any of the people involved are controversial because you’ve shown nothing to suggest they are
Baron Baker is an old man, no technology skills, probably given the phone by his staff, probably not much of a phone user. We all know older people like that, so try to show a bit more understanding.
I completely agree with you.
Give the older gentleman a break, people.
So Brand "is"/"was" a comedian? Who knew.......(although, to be fair, he always made me laugh......)?
Anthony Scaramucci's nickname means something a lot different in the UK than in the US 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
Jeremy Paxman is a national treasure, and this list doesn’t include his clashes with George Galloway. I checked out the videos of some of those you mentioned at the end and Kirsty Wark dancing was definitely the weirdest. Here’s a few more examples: Kirsty Wark interviewing Cookie Monster, Andrew Neil, Michael Portillo and Diane Abbott dancing to “Show Me the way to Amarillo” and Paxman sabotaging weather reports he didn’t want to read out.
So, people that don't vote can't have an opinion?
People who don’t see footballers play can hardly criticise the attacking play.
@@BillyfromConsett Totally she's. Except everyday all of us see the consequences of those that are voted in.
How you think Russell Brand got owned in that particular interview is beyond me. Paxman was on Graham Norton not long after that and said he agreed with him. I love how you reframe things based on who's been cancelled or not. You did it with the James Corden (who I hate) and Patrick Stewart cringefest not long ago. I remember everyone cleary being on that fat mans side when it happened. But you reframed it. Hmmmm.
I like how you try to reframe being unpopular for stupid statements and suspected sexual assault as "cancelled." I would be happy if the kind of people to admire Russel Brand took his advice and never voted for anything again, just leave it to others.
Makes you wonder whether some of these people got lost in the BBC centre, and went into the NewsNight studio when perhaps The One Show wouldve been a better bet!
If you can't sweat, you die
Hades forbid for death
There is a genuine medical condition where people don't produce any sweat; a guy I knew from Middlesbrough had red eyeballs, didn't have any body hair (including eyebrows) or sweat glands 😐
I have only heard of 2 of them 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I'd like to have heard the actual interviews rather than the voice over telling us what we could have listened to and understood for ourselves.

2016: stop making stupid people famous
2024: stop making stupid people famous
Exactly!
Peter Hitchens is ghastly (though I’ve never met him) I did however spend a fair bit of time on a tv set with Matthew Perry and to anyone who wasn’t ‘important’ (me included) he was lip curlingly contemptuous ( this was 1998 and by his own account was almost permanently as high as a kite so perhaps that helps explain it)
Matthew Perry came off worse in the interaction.
No he didn’t. He merely pointed out that Hitchens was not only an arse for his beliefs, but that he was the only person with such a stupid ideology as evidenced in his book. You’re a bit stupid really aren’t you?
No he didn't.
What about atop 100 Dianne Abbott gaffs?
Oh please, Hitchens was dead right and perfectly articulate and polite. Alcoholism isn’t a disease, it’s an excuse and convenient label for the weak willed.
And now the AZ rollout is in the courts.
That it is the BBC might indicate a less that level starting place; it certainly put me off watching more than the start.
Too much commentary and too much music.
1:29 “Hoy claimed brexit helped with the vaccine rollout, which has been heavily disputed”
No that claim has been completely debunked from the moment it was first claimed.
Same as the vaccine working too then...you fell for it..bet you had boosters too😂😂😂
@@spm36 - yes I did. My 5G signal has been amazing ever since. I don’t even own a mobile phone but my text messages are projected onto the inside of my eyes and I just put my finger up to my ear to make phone calls. People who were concerned about stupid things like vaccines and 5G really should be kicking themselves now
So it's up to WatchMojo to decide who's 'obnoxious', is it?
scaramush scaramush can he do the fandango
Perry was a poor little rich boy.
You’ve posted two stupid comments and nobody has shown any kind of response except me. Doesn’t that tell you something, troll boy?
The "action" being continually talked over just ruins it.
Mizzy would have been shot in Texas under the stand your ground law, when he entered private property for a prank
Please don't refer to Russell Brand as a comedian. He's an irrelevant Z-list celebrity.
Z lister ? Yeah a guy who has been in movies with Jonah Hill & Elizabeth Moss is a Z lister 😂. What Tosh
@@Gavin48 how long ago was that?
i know people who like him.
@@adammintern3927 There are people who like eating shite and they are also complete tossers.
@@dannymerrittmusic Regardless of that. He isn't someone off a reality show. He is well known in the west. You don't have to like the guy. But to call him a z lister is ridiculous
Please stop repeating words that people actually say in the clips.
Maximum respect to Matthew Perry (RIP) for his handling of Hitchins nonsense.
Brilliant takedown by Perry
We must have been watching something different. Perry expected to come on and get a free ride, got shocked at being on a non scripted show and resorted to name calling
Agree as well.
Another junkie gone 💉
Having seen the interview in full sometime ago, I can see both sides Where Perry (RIP) clearly felt hurt and Hitchens, whose opinions on geo politics and the state of the UK I seem to be agreeing with more(unlike his late brother who a became a supporter of America's Iraq war and foreign policy) on in the last decade or so, was unempthetic and unfair here. Cold and don't blame Matthew for getting annoyed.
At the same time, as someone who never watched Friends and from the clips I saw it didn't appeal to me and thought the humour was lame, It was refrehsing to see someone not recgonise or overly indulge an American celebrity. Perry was upset at Peter's remarks and lack of empathy (understandable) but I also think he's so used to being supported and overly indulged because of his fame from Friends that when one person didn't do this and didn't know who he was, Perry seemed a bit miffed and offended. Something of a self absorbed American celebrity, which does tire me and they automatically expect the whole world to agree with them(who says McCarthyism doesn't exist among liberals too). He also got annoyed when his provocative criticism and name calling towards Peter had no effect on him and he didn't even react. Perry isn't used to someone not kissing his arse.
At the same time I know of people with addiction issues and have an addictive personality myself. Was sad to hear of his passing.
I've downloaded Perry's movie on Ted Kennedy and hoping to watch it soon.
Russell should have told people to spoil their ballots instead of not voting... it shows we are willing to go and vote - just not for the crock of crap on offer...
Every time you do drugs, tou are making a choice. Of you had no choice, as Hitchens alluded to, no one would ever get sober.
I was an IV heroin user for six years. Through a mix of addiction services and willpower (No methdone) I quit. It was all my doing that made and kept me aj addict, and my doing that stopped me heing an addict
Peter Hitchens is an obnoxious arse. Forever bitter about being in the very large shadow of his brother rip.
I do find it difficult to get my head round them being brothers. Christopher was just miles above his brother both in intellect and in argument.
If you want to see Hitchins squirming just watch him try and defend his religious beliefs.
RIP To All The Dead Mentioned 🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️
...including Russell Brand's career.
Sex Pistols, God Save the Queen
Its a facist regime
"heavily disputed". Do you mean completely debunked, repeatedly
This channel is BS. 😆
I loved that Newsnight ending, which followed some twat of a tory MP suggesting, in Parliament, that the BBC should end each days broadcasting, by playing God Save the Queen. They did, but it was the Sex Pistols. A classic, absolutely brilliant, I bet the upper echelons at the beeb knew nothing about it. 🤣
Left-leaning tripe.
I was really nervous that Matthew Perry was going to be called obnoxious and would be getting owned, but he didn't, he was not obnoxious and he did the owning. I already love Matthew Perry but I love him even more now.
No he didn't. Matthew Perry was another junkie alcoholic who always had an excuse for being a weak man.
God bless Matthew Perry Rest in Peace ❤

You don't need to vote to have an opinion on politics.
But if you can't be a*sed to at least turn up and spoil your ballot paper, your political opinions are worthless.
I beg to differ. You can indeed have an opinion but wont do anything about that opinion then why should anyone listen?
Yes, but non-voters should make their voices heard in votes and not just their opinions.
@@JordisYoutubing yes, completely agree. I don't agree with non-voters, even though I see where they're coming from.
@@avadayofffoyster where does it it say you have to do anything with an opinion, to be taken seriously. Theories are created all the time but aren't always acted on. Also, if you think about it, they are doing something. They're choosing not to vote to make a point.
This channel seems to be leaning only on way on the political spectrum.
