A slap in the face, eh? Yeah, a slap in the face to Tolkien’s Legacy, all this episode did was cement my hatred of the show lmao, the fight scene was AWFUL.
I've been wondering the same thing ever since Galadriel's vision. Amazon also made The Boys, though, so I don't think they'd balk at showing how he died in the lore.
@@bensenzo Yeah in the lore, after Sauron was done torturing Celebrimbor and finally killed him, they hung his body on a pike and marched with it into battle as a kind of banner and a manner of psychological warfare. If you google "celebrimbor death" some people have drawings and art of the scene.
I liked this episode very much. But i think episode 6 is still the best one this season. Especially the pacing comparing to this one. I still am a fanboy about the dwarfs. They have a great story and the characters are amazing

The vast majority of those commenting their discontent or hate have limited understanding of the source material or are expecting it to be akin to the Lord of the Rings films. Yet several factors are often disregarded in their hatred. 1. The films are based on 3 books that detail virtually every action and word spoken by the characters for months. This series is based on a singular (but bloody huge) book that covers 21499 solar years, and comparatively has very little actual dialogue. One of the key factors that made the films great was the ability to rip dialogue and descriptions from the source material. That ability is limited here. 2. There are elements of the Silmarillion that are obscured in mystery or simply not explained. Elements that need to be depicted on screen for the show to actually be a show. 3. The timeline of these depicted events is just over 3,000 years. They are very clearly speeding things up to make for better visual storytelling. 4. Both the series and the films made huge sweeping changes to Tolkien’s story. You cannot point to one change and decry it as abhorrent while ignoring objected to changes made by the films.the depiction of elves here as belligerent, argumentative and extremely emotional is far closer to Tolkien’s writings than Jackson’s films. Yet people seem to take issue with it because the films built the idea of them being perfect, regal and noble. Let us not forget, in the books, elves are impish, prone to singing, killed their own kind, were prideful and quick to envy. 5. This TV series, for all its merits and its flaws, has made more people than ever start reading or listening to Tolkien’s works. That is and always shall be, a good thing. Tolkien wrote stories that stand the test of time. That place importance on enjoying the simple life and appreciating the value of the small vs the mighty. That help remind us that evil is self-defeating and that heroes come in all forms. I think that is far more important than ‘Celebrimbor looks too old’ or ‘The cast are too diverse.’
@@lemoncakes0 If your understanding is ‘it needs to be the exact way I want it or else nobody can be allowed to enjoy it’ then I’d call that limited. Pitiable if anything.
It depends entirely on the topography of the river before the new "dam". If the blockage is higher than the banks and the river swells it'll flood over those places first and reroute the river there never flooding over the dam.
To the people who hate on this show so much. If you don't like it don't watch it, don't come on these forums, it's simple. You all say it's terrible but you are still watching it? Otherwise how would you even know, but you probably secretly love it and just have to jump on some bandwagon to feel like you fit in. All the haters need get over it. I'm a huge LOTR fan. The books, the movies, the cartoons, you name it. I can appreciate an ADAPATION. Which is what the cartoon movies were, which is what Peter Jackson's LOTR were, which is what the radio plays were, the hobbit movies, , the video games, the anime, fan fiction etc. NOT ONE of these adaptations copied everything Tolkien wrote WORD FOR WORD or followed the "lore". It's called an adaptation for a reason and they are allowed to exist. As a fan I just don't get this. Why can't you just enjoy being in the world of Middle Earth regardless of how the story is told. This is someone vision of how they see LOTR and we can either enjoy it or just not watch but don't tread all over it.
people know adaptations don't have to be word for word its the dumb changes a condensed timeline celeborn galadriels husband should be arriving and galdriel has a daughter by now because they compressed the timeliness for the show. What's annoying is the dumb way celebrimbor was manipulated into making the rings, the dumb orcs have lives, during banes isn't awoken until after sauron is defeated like I can go on and on sure I can expect changes but when they just make crap like this and have previously stated that they can make it better plus before production began they got rid of Tolkien experts who pointed this out. The all women directors announcement was weird i never cared what the gender was they mentioned how women are in power now what does women in power have to with it the most powerful female is Galadriel yet they made her have this weird relationship with sauron and adar, guess me writing this makes me a racist hate to break it to you I'm not my best friends and mentors come different backgrounds I even told them how I hated this crap and this desperate need to force diversity into everything is weird, most agreed some said they just wish everything was back to normal as in stop forcing this on the audience. Honestly was hoping for better when the show was announced but the battle was pretty lame considering they have a massive budget.
@@13bfakingofbattle77 I don't think you are racist LOL. I'm also not here for the wokeness, but at the end of the day I don't truly care if Elrond's hair doesn't reach his butt or if we have different ethnicity for elves, dwarves or men. I can look past all that, I can still submerse myself in the story. You can have your opinions, yes, but I just find some people are too quick to judge or are super harsh. As someone who loves this realm or world. It hurts to have people talk so much hate. I understand things are not perfect and timelines are condensed or sped up to tie stories together. Maybe people would be more willing to forgive it's mistakes if they just took the show for what it is and not try to compare it. I too in the beginning was off put by a lot of the changes made but I just remember when Peter Jackson put his versions out and all the hatred he got, but at the end of the day we all grew to love them. Maybe people can grow to love this series too. I find Season 2 far better than 1. There is a lot of good here in this show, but we are always just focusing on the negative when we live in such a negative world right now. This show brings me joy cause I get to escape our world and I get to be in Middle Earth again despite, yes, it's flaws.
@hollywarnock6382 I think people would be more forgiving if the actors and producers didn't state they could do better and a state thus world is racist because it wasn't diverse enough. That's when people couldn't take anything at face value. When S1 came out i checked out the reviews and most in the beginning were decent critics with actual proof I checked an hr later and they were gone plus a few positive generic positive reviews and than Amazon was stating instant success for S1 while deleting trolls but majority of critics who weren't trolls so people who didn't see this at first or just didn't see the articles may not know why fans are pretty annoyed and pissed. I get changes are made especially PJ like I wish the grey company and the 7000 gondor armies arrive at the battle of Pelennor Fields with Gondors Lord's and Prince Imrahil but I take what I can get or a movie of the battle happening with elves, dwarves, and men against the harad during the war of the ring.
I might be thinking of a later event but I thought Galadriel was supposed to be in Eregion with Celeborn and Celebrian, but they're making it seem like 1) Celeborn is already dead when he's clearly alive in LOTR? and 2) Celebrian hasn't even been born yet, so that whole situation is very confusing to me right now. it'll be over 1000 more years before Elrond even marries Celebrian so maybe that's why they did it differently, they're trying to kinda smush stuff together to make a coherent time-sensitive story I think, can't exactly do centuries-long timeskips in between episodes. still, I wish we could see Celeborn and Celebrian at some point.
This episode was jaw-dropping. The bit with the troll was hilarious and brutal. The battle scenes were on par with the PJ films. The Sauron/Calibrimbor scenes were chilling. It's wild to me that we basically get a new LotR trilogy every 2 years for the next 6 years or so!!!
Unless the show gets canceled, which it could after this season. It’s not doing good with its viewership. Disagree on the battle scenes being on par with the PJ films. They’re good, but not near the same quality. In fact, I would say that the PJ battle scenes are infinitely better than this. Sure, these battle scenes were entertaining, but look like complete ass next to PJ’s ones
I'm not convinced they're not going to show up in the last episode. They've been delayed but in the lore they did march out of Khazad'dum and attack the orcs from the rear, giving Elrond and any elves he could save a chance to escape. So we'll see what happens in the last episode! But @josephclinton375 is right. The animosity goes way farther back to the First Age.
I loved this episode. Felt like a movie at times! I think my only criticism is around the editing of the passage of time; the lighting of scenes jumping between daylight and night was a bit jarring to me.
Yeah, I would've gone for breaking the hand to get through the handcuffs. Broken bones can be reset, but I'm not sure they had the ability to reattach severed limbs and/or digits.
@@adrianadamski1264 Yeah even if it wasn't in the trailer they've been hinting at it throughout the season and we've got to justify Durin not coming to aid Elrond. well... if you think about it Aragorn and Arwen are related too... Aragorn is numenorian decendant from Elrond's brother Elros... I guess kinda happens
Probably not. That event shouldn’t even happen for a few thousand years, but this show doesn’t really care about lore. If it was going to happen, I would place that event in season 3. (If it even gets that far)
I guess its true that there is a show out there for everyone. People can forgive bad/nonsensical writing for some reason. Not for me but glad you guys enjoy it
theres a lot of movie sins and internal inconsistencies in this episode. But i enjoyed it. Theres already too much injustice, unbelievable acceptance and normalisation of crimes happening IRL for me to care or stress about TV. Its already serving as a distraction and i think thats enough benefit.
oh, i like you - some sense finally! you put it really well. I have enough with awful happenings of real life... so many people mad for little things, i mean, just enjoy and let others enjoy, right? it's a great fantasy show and as a tolkien fan i feel blessed for having this. Its an adaptation, after all. And it has become a sort of comfort show for me...
Adar's CGI face at the end of the episode took me a bit out of it. Wonder if they had to do that scene without the actor available or something similar.
@@Lord_Nordan Oh you mean they originally had pre-filmed stuff for the second season during S01? Yeah that could be, but then I wonder why they wouldn't have just refilmed that short scene with the new actor while they had him during the S02 shoots? Can't imagine that would've taken any significant amount of time or money comapred to digitally altering the original scene. Could be any reason I guess. Unless we get more information from the crew, there's no telling why they did it.
@@DharmaJannyter Why film it again and pay all of the staff and actors when you can just digitally replace Adar's face? I truly have no idea if that is the reason, just speculation.
@@Lord_Nordan They had the new actor on set while filming the fight at Eregion, so if the CGI scene was originally from S01, then it would've been trivial to redo the short scene with Elrond at the time of filming S02E02. Thus I think the CGI where Adar says a line to Elrond was probably a decision in post. Because then reshooting would've required going back to (a similar) location, bringing back in the actor, crew, etc.

Seems like every week we’re saying “best episode of the series so far!” What an absolute joy this season has been. Going to be sad to see it go after next week. Thanks for another great reaction, guys!
Hahaha wtf, You live in a distorted reality, this episode has been terrible like the entire season, a wall appears out of nowhere, the cavalry charge is cut off without giving a show, a random Chinese elf goes out to die thinking it's epic, etc etc
^ Ah yes, we can always rely on the brainless incels to show up and embarrass themselves 🙄🤣🤡

It started being great from the last season finale.

Sauron: Yes... Nine

this episode was insane, i need to watch it again asap
brainrot times two:)
Did they miss that Durin called back his army because of a vision that Sauron put in his head? I feel like that was the point of it cutting to Sauron with his eyes closed, but they didn’t say anything about it.
I stand corrected. ‘Twas a mislead it seems lol
I think Adar gets killed by the other orc who wanted to retreat

Did anyone else feel like adars face was CGI in his last 2 scenes? I don't know... It felt like a deepfake. And a bad one at that 29:22
Yeah who cares it wasn't 10/10
I was thinking the same thing when I was watching it. It just looked off for some reason. Could just be that it was a close up from an angle we haven't had on him before.
Perhaps they filmed that scene with the previous actor?

What a slap in the face of all the haters this episode is!
And I had to laugh when Eric said "You can see everything" regarding the battle scene. I know what he did there ;-)
More like a slap in the face to Tolkien and an insult to his legacy.
A slap in the face, eh? Yeah, a slap in the face to Tolkien’s Legacy, all this episode did was cement my hatred of the show lmao, the fight scene was AWFUL.

Honestly, the wildest part about this episode for me was the music choice in the end credits.
Really snapped me out of my reverie.
I agree. I've heard many people say they like the song, but to me it just did not fit at all.
Oh I loved it!
Feel more and more to me like Disa's gonna get murdered by Durin Sr. in the last episode. If I'm wrong, I'll cut off my thumb.
This season is a banger 🔥
Is Sauron’s forces gonna use Celebrimbor as a Banner like in the source material or is that too brutal for Amazon?
I've been wondering the same thing ever since Galadriel's vision. Amazon also made The Boys, though, so I don't think they'd balk at showing how he died in the lore.
They are.
A banner?
Charles Edwards IG story suggests they are 😬😢
@@bensenzo Yeah in the lore, after Sauron was done torturing Celebrimbor and finally killed him, they hung his body on a pike and marched with it into battle as a kind of banner and a manner of psychological warfare. If you google "celebrimbor death" some people have drawings and art of the scene.
Best Episode so far ! Can't wait for the Finale !

This episode was absolutely amazing
I liked this episode very much. But i think episode 6 is still the best one this season. Especially the pacing comparing to this one. I still am a fanboy about the dwarfs. They have a great story and the characters are amazing
If people still hate on this, especially after seeing this episode then i am just lost for words. This was truly amazing, the best episode of the series so far, it got me hooked. Something LOTR did to me all those years ago 🤯
If you think this is the pinnacle of cinema after all.of the superior shows we've gotten in the last decade I don't know what to tell you maybe critical.thinking isn't your forte
it was probably the worst written television episode i have ever seen. my god this show is indefensible.
lol you're likely a 10 year old if you think this was good.
Hell yeah
It's going to be tough to follow. Let's hope it sticks the landing for the season next episode.
The ballad of Damrod is his theme that played when he was introduced. I think it's fitting for a troll or a giant character to have a rock theme😊
Both Charlie Vickers and Charles Edwards deserve all the awards. Their scenes were incredible. (especially love the conversation about Morgoth)
This episode was amazing! My favorite episode of any TV show I watch this year! I do hate that there's only 1 episode left until presumably another 2-year break.
Only if we had Shadow of Mordor's Celebrimbor...he would had actually decimated the entire army all by himself
the desperation I felt at "Durin will come" 😫🥺
How sad are the people who just drop by to write hate comments. they say, “it’s bad. I won’t watch it!” but, they write comments on the reaction videos. I wonder, are they secretly watching it in their own rooms?! while screaming, all hail Sauron!! 🤣 okey dokey. I get it. 👌🏼💨
i still have to watch the thing because it is based on something I adore. therefore I have to know about the heresy with every bit of detail.
@@orothieni get you bro....its so painful.
@@alexanderharris5022 what source material are they using!!!
@@lemoncakes0 If your understanding is ‘it needs to be the exact way I want it or else nobody can be allowed to enjoy it’ then I’d call that limited. Pitiable if anything.
Silly question: Shouldn't the dammed river step over the barricade pretty quickly? Unless the orcs have built a reservoir with an emergency drain.
Probably, but Amazon doesn’t care about making things make sense
@@TheBabyCaleb to be honest, I don't think, it is an amazon exclusive problem :D
It depends entirely on the topography of the river before the new "dam". If the blockage is higher than the banks and the river swells it'll flood over those places first and reroute the river there never flooding over the dam.
It would probably be wyrm, which includes sea serpents.
Thank you blind wave for another fun reaction.

This show brings me joy cause I get to escape our world and I get to be in Middle Earth again despite, yes, it's flaws.
no.
👍👍👍
Shill shill shill
I feel like the Dwarves not showing up to eregion is the reason why in the Third age (the hobbit and LOTR) the Elves and dwarves don't get along.
The Dwarves murdered King Thingol in the First Age. That's why

Adar's CGI face at the end of the episode took me a bit out of it.
Wonder if they had to do that scene without the actor available or something similar.
They may have filmed that scene with the previous actor
A charging calvary fully halting from a single dude on the front saying stop is the most insulting sht I've seen in cinema battle history.
Elrond marries Galadriel's daughter in the books. It's an awful creative decision to have those two kiss.
