Yeah Ive been having issues with the glass cockpit too. Ive got some flight plans to work before but it was not very logical and I cant remember what I did. So every time I hop back in it I have to relearn the quarks again because I end up flying in my PMDG stuff most of the time because everything works in those things lol. I would pay PMDG prices for a near study grade version of the SR22.
Nice video! By the way, Caps;Cirrus airframe parachute system. And supposedly in the SOP’s preflight inspection checklist, you should remove a pin from the caps handle and at the end of the flight you have to insert again the pin. That handle is behind the the black instructions located on the “overhead panel”.
Hey man! Great video. If you have any questions about the Cirrus feel free to ask. I fly here at Purdue University and have a pretty vast knowledge of the aircraft. About the propeller, the SR20 and 22 both have variable pitch propellers. The prop pitch is controlled by an oil piston which regulates the angle of the blades. Basically, it does the blue knob for you.
+David Wasson Thanks! I had a feeling the prop pitch was auto controlled, but just couldn't be certain. Glad you liked the video. Have you flown the Carenado version? If so, how would you say it compares performance wise, to the real thing?
+Captain_Mac I do own the Carenado version for fsx. My main problem with it is the sensitivity. Even if you turn down the settings in fsx it still doesn't feel like the real thing. The turning simulations are spot on; all brakes. It really helps sometimes because it allows you to make some really tight turns. As far as the G1000 goes, there are a lot of things missing, but hey, who hasn't said that in the fsx world.
SR22 has a constant speed prop. The power lever and prop control are all integrated and its designed to provide 2500rpm or 2700rpm depending on the model. I own a SR-22TN. It provides 2700rpm at takeoff. I adjust the prop and mixture for LOP or ROP cruise and climb. (rich of peak or lean of peak). At cruise I am usually running mp of 28 and fuel flow of 16gph which should give you roughly 75%. Hope this helps.
Just a note, I fly this plane frequently and I do enter flight plans and way points all the time. I'm doing quite a bit of IFR operations with it and for the most part it's fine. Yeah, there are a few small glitches which one would like to be "fixed". I use pull up the MFD and control panel and from there I go into the flight plan and manage it like the actual product.
Just try a cold and dark start-up. It disables the following functions: power %, artificial horizon, Flight director, auto pilot , heading , desired altitude, climb and descent rate, ILS , CRS , OBI . Carenado has fooled everyone. I purchased the Vflyte Cirrus sr20 too , no complaint, everything works perfectly
You can switch through the maps you use the dial and scroll right, small to go to next in current category and big to switch category. I found that out within the first few minutes of using it.
Hi captain! after many hours trying to master the g1000. i visit the carenado website and find the G1000 doesn´t simulate SID, STAR and ARRIVAL Procedures. Wish i had known before trying for hours to use the procedure button! it states ARRIVAL but i cant get it to do approaches ethier? im new to glass panel cockpits so maybe that is the SID and STAR part they are talking about? Also on the website it tells me i should download the G1000 database, currently downloading but not sure what im going to achieve by getting this? thanks for the video though mate learnt alot from it EDIT: ok done some research mate sorry for wasting your time lol. ill watch your advanced tutorial on vor navigation ect and see if i can set up a vor approach thanks
If you open the FSX with the cirrus and you open up the 2D display it disables some functions. You have to use the system as it is in the virtual cockpit
How do you switch to the different camera views? Like how you go from sitting in the seat, to looking at the switches, to looking at the throttle and stuff, etc.
Wes Wagner it's called EZDok camera. They just released version 2 and another company is about to release chase plane...all do the same thing in basic.
What do you think of EZDock v2 Mac? I can upgrade from v1 for like £8, but all I have heard is bad reviews because of the built in flight dynamics. I could go for Chase Plane but that is £40 which I could spend on the Flight1 GTN750 lol :). I would rather buy EZDock v2. What are your thoughts mate?
Captain, if you'd like to fly GA in the future, i would soo much recommend you take a look at the Realair Lancair Legacy v2 i got it a couple of days ago, it's such a beast :)
+LeetKrew090 I'd sure like to give that one a try, but just like this one, it is always an issue of $$$. I have very little, and they want very much LOL. If I get an opportunity to pick it up, I would love to give it a go though. Where would you say the best place to buy it is?
+Captain_Mac You could try Simmarket, if you might have any coupons there to drop off that price a little, other than that i guess the website of realair. Always these decisions on what to get.. :D I hope that Crj from AE comes out in March now.
The only method i know of is to shut everything down once you load the aircraft. I don't know of a way to set it to automatically load cold and dark...but its been a few years since I did this tutorial.
Hey Captain Mac, when you bring the second window for your GPS, it almost looks like the buttons on the 2nd window don’t match the command on the GPS, that would drive me nuts. Is it a “simconnect” issue? I have to admit, the SR22 is a sexy plane
+Captain_Mac, I've been using P3D for sometime and I had some issue at one point after installing a addon that messed up my simconnect somehow, can't click on the buttons etc. Now P3D has a folder with all the simconnect msi version so you can reinstall them and that usually fix the problem. Now for FSX...not to sure how to do that. To be honest, I know enough about that stuff to be dangerous lol Having said that, maybe it's not a simconnect issue at all.
@Pat Leclerc...unfortunately, unlike P3D, simconnect is integrated into the FSX installer. The only way to "reinstall" simconnect would be to uninstall/reinstall FSX. I know....It's a bummer. Sorry I couldn't be of more help or have better news. :(
The easiest way would be using the default flight planner. I haven't actually flown this aircraft since the tutorial was made. But if memory serves me, the G1000 is lacking in some features that make flight planning with it more difficult.
great plane that's near useless. yes cant enter data into the g1000. no destination no pts nothing. the input fields just blink but none of the buttons allow you to do anything....
Stephen Mason perhaps you have made a better video for us to enjoy? No? Funny how easy it is to bad mouth my videos but how difficult it is to create better content. The fan that asked me to make the video was extremely happy with it...along with thousands of other viewers. If you don't like it...don't watch it. But there's no need to be nasty to me about it. Maybe you should take the time to learn just how much effort goes into making one of these videos. How many aircraft are you proficient in? 3? 5? I have to know the procedures for more than 15 aircraft to make my content. Of course I make mistakes...of course I forget things...but at least I'm trying to make some quality content for people to enjoy rather than just complaining about other's content. I was honored to be asked to make this tutorial, and humbled that the aircraft was given as a gift. Instead of trying to make me look bad in the comments, perhaps you can provide some useful information to help those who want to know more about this aircraft. No? I look forward to seeing your "better video" tutorial on this aircraft. Be sure to let me know when it's posted.

This is one of my most favourite aircraft❤❤❤❤

Thanks for the info. I hope to get a chance to fly one of these in the real world one day. I am a bit jealous that you own one lol. Thanks again :-)
CAPS is the Parachute on the roof :) Great video!

+Steve Ferguson Thanks for the info Steve. It's odd that some people have problems and others don't...or problems are different.

Ha ha Iloveyour badge up top...” Initial Success or total failure!” That’s awesome! Did you make that? Can I use it, I love it!
It is a constant speed propeller
What GNS do you need to operate it?
Captain, if you'd like to fly GA in the future, i would soo much recommend you take a look at the Realair Lancair Legacy v2 i got it a couple of days ago, it's such a beast :)

Ange1walk I was greatly saddened when they went out of business, had just gotten
P3D and was going to purchase it for that, always loved it in FSX.
Sir, one question. Can you please tell me how to load the Cold and Dark pamel state! Every time I'm starting, it's engine is already stared.
The only method i know of is to shut everything down once you load the aircraft. I don't know of a way to set it to automatically load cold and dark...but its been a few years since I did this tutorial.
@@CaptainMac okay okay.. Thank you sir
It is an automatically controlled prop .
How do you do for the Flight plan?
Hey Captain Mac, when you bring the second window for your GPS, it almost looks like the buttons on the 2nd window don’t match the command on the GPS, that would drive me nuts.
Is it a “simconnect” issue?
I have to admit, the SR22 is a sexy plane
+Pat Leclerc Could you clarify what you mean?

+egrindstaff1 Hmmmm, I've seen somewhere long time ago that you could use the SDK to reinstall simconnect but I may be mistaken.
captain, how do you get in to cold&dark right after you enter the game?
There is an option in your fsx settings. However, some payware you will have to set it in the aircraft settings. PMDG is a good example of that.
+Captain_Mac Also, for some aircraft, I just shut everything down as soon as the sim loads up and then I start recording. ;-)
The Cirrus SR22T can operate up 25000 feet according to the cirrus website yet the carenado simulatin it won't be able to climb over 13000 feet.
how do you change view mode
Chaseplane. Previously I used EZDok, but I like Chaseplane better.
Intro song?
The plane is way too sensitive with the nose wheel. I cannot keep the plane straight even at idle.
Sir, how to put a flight plan in this thing!!
The easiest way would be using the default flight planner. I haven't actually flown this aircraft since the tutorial was made. But if memory serves me, the G1000 is lacking in some features that make flight planning with it more difficult.
That one is not workig, the one that works is the one on vc.
Manuel Prieto thanks for the tip :-)
great plane that's near useless. yes cant enter data into the g1000. no destination no pts nothing. the input fields just blink but none of the buttons allow you to do anything....
It is a costly flop for me too !
Stop yelling at me
was there any point this video? you clearly can't fly it? next time a fan asks you to make a video, try learning about it first!
Stephen Mason perhaps you have made a better video for us to enjoy? No? Funny how easy it is to bad mouth my videos but how difficult it is to create better content.
