Made this today! Wobbles a bit as I used 2.4m posts, I think ideally you would attach the top to something to properly stabilise it, but seems pretty strong.
Did you consider drilling through the posts to have a longer bar go beyond the frame? It obviously looks more than capable of bearing your weight but I would think pole through the post would put more of the load on the posts vs the screws?
Absolutely beautiful. I'm wondering if the structure could also double as a rack to do incline presses? It would require a couple of pegs in the front of your two primary beams. Thanks for posting!
I am actually going to to modify it to also to be used for squats and bench press by adding a beam up both the posts from the ground with slots cut out to hold the bar i will be making a video about it in a couple of weeks👍
Andrew, This is by far the most cost effective DIY pull up bar made for outside without having to use concrete. Thanks for the simple design. Now I can build one for my son. Thanks!!!
@@andrewhasarrived1904 my son plans to work on muscle-ups. He’s 14 and about 150lbs. With these dimensions, would I need to make the base bigger or more sturdy? Or, should this be enough? Thanks
Really great bro..Thanks for making a video like this..Me,my friend and my younger son are making a lot of projects like skateboard ramps, shoe racks and now the pull up bar too.I have plenty of time to spend time building stuff and the likes and once again, thanks for the video of diy pull bar..
See we call all that sawdust "man glitter" in my family! Great breakdown of the project and I love the sound of woodwork work coming together!! Now get to chin-upping sir! Make us proud! :))
this is a bit off topic but i already bought a pullup bar that loooks similar to that. Unfortunately i want a pullup bar where i have to jump to grab the bar and start doing pullup. The pullup bar is too short so i just hate bending my knees to do pullups. What can i do to increase the base height?
Great construction mate! I was thinking to build something like this at home. Is the pullup bar strong enough to do muscle ups? And also for ring exercises? Cheers mate
@@tsgeoser so i belive you guys use the metric system like we do in Australia. so the text on the screen are for americans they are in inches, and i talk in the video in millimeters and meters.
You can pack the high points with anything really. My garage was quite level but it still moved a little so i just got some cardboard i had around and squashed it under the high points. Depending on how much maybe cut in some wedges.
Andrew has arrived actually found some sawn 100x100mm in 2.4 length at Bunnings for $15.60 each if anyone else is reading this haha thanks Andrew! Love the videos mate keep it up 👍🏼
A lot. The posts can hold up beams and roofs, and if you use those same screws or similar it will hold a massive amount. If you are concerned i would upgrade the threaded bar to the next size up.

"at a massive 5ft7" lmao like the humor. And great build, I'm going to try to recreate this with what little tools I own.
Haha Thanks mate.
Ditto. The other video, too narrow. This is Perfect. Easy too. 🙏💛🤳

Great build! Really inspired my build. Thank you!
Glad you liked it👍
I like this, quick easy, and cost effective
That's it 👍

it will need to be fixed to the ground
Concrete is only like $5 a bag. I dont mind the digging and extra support in the ground. I digress
@@NightWolf-vv5me I would put it in the ground but we’re currently living in an RV park. Thanks anyway…

Thank you for watching. Thats awesome, it's always fun building different things. I'm glad you got something out of it.
@@andrewhasarrived1904 Plenty of time because of the Covid zombies around us!! ha ha
haha. Good to see you're using your time well.👍
Saw horses are dope
Yeah they are
Excellent work!
Thanks man💪
Nice! It'd be cool to use it as a squat rack too.
It's perfect and easy , i am definitely make it also you can upgrade it and plus more stuff
Exactly 👍
can you make a estimate cost of this?
Great video
Thank you
thank you for watching
Mate got it sorted and your form improved from the last video! Great work mate
Yeah i thought so too haha cheers mate

Haha "man glitter" that is one i'm going to use in the future. I won't let you down the chin-uping will begin.
Awesome I'm going to make it!!!! Thanks

Nicely done ✅ ❤💪💪
Thanks ✌
Just wondering why you didn’t predrill any of the holes? Couldn’t the wood have split on you?
Thanks for sharing, Just what I need. Look forward to your other videos
Have you had any rotation issues with the bar twisting/spinning on you while exercising?
Great construction mate! I was thinking to build something like this at home. Is the pullup bar strong enough to do muscle ups? And also for ring exercises? Cheers mate
If you bolt it down it should be good for muscle ups. But since i can do them i can test that out for you.😂
@@andrewhasarrived1904 Tanks for the reply man i can only do one kipping pullup fo now 😂 but we getting there. Cheers mate
Has anyone tried muscle ups on this? Wanna build and wondering.
Can you swing to test the stability?
Good shit Andrew. Exactly what I needed.
That's it buddy 💪💪💪
How high is the bar from off the ground like 10 feet,
Around 8 feet
Is it necessary to put 2 sticks of wood like you are putting in 4:54, like is it necessary?
Yeah I would. It would slide apart if you dont
Very good job and really helpful tip for working out at home ,but I’m a bit confused on measurements I can not understand them very well
The measurements in Australia where i am from are in millimeters. The text on the video are in inches. I hope that helps. Where are you from?
@@andrewhasarrived1904 I m from Greece

Can I use wood screw to secure the pull up bar? 3 inch
the bigger the gauge the better
Would you go wider at the base for a higher bar? (I'm 6'6!) Ta mate.
couldn't hurt. Better safe than sorry
Auzzie auzzie auzzayyyyyyy top man bruz,Chur my bro hooked my right up mate🤙🏽
all good buddy. 👊
What is the weight limit on the bar?
Not solute exactly. But alot
What kind of wood did you use?
Pine
My pull up bar seems to move back and forth alot, like the shoes on thd bottom are not level on the floor, any tip to stop the moving
You can pack the high points with anything really. My garage was quite level but it still moved a little so i just got some cardboard i had around and squashed it under the high points. Depending on how much maybe cut in some wedges.
How wide is the treaded pipe?
1200mm
Would you be able to safely perform muscle-ups?
If you bolt it down and make the braces go up higher then i would think you would be able to
Hey Andrew! Where abouts did you buy your posts? Bunnings posts are expensive!
Hey mate, I'm a carpenter so i scored mine for free off a job.Check out facebook marketplace might get some good prices.
Andrew has arrived actually found some sawn 100x100mm in 2.4 length at Bunnings for $15.60 each if anyone else is reading this haha thanks Andrew! Love the videos mate keep it up 👍🏼
Hey Andrew ... Which timber post did you use, Cypress Pine or Treated Pine?
Treated pine. I don't like the smell of cut cypress pine.
For the two posts can I use something 2x4 or 2x3? I weigh around 180lbs.
I wouldn't
@@andrewhasarrived1904 thank you.
İs there a way to make a pipe on the pipe at a 90° angle to have grip options ?
at the place that i bought the pipe from (bunnings) they had elbows that are 90 deg angle that attach to the straight pipe.
what diameter and thickness for the pipe please ?
25mm
How much weight this can hold?
A lot. The posts can hold up beams and roofs, and if you use those same screws or similar it will hold a massive amount. If you are concerned i would upgrade the threaded bar to the next size up.
@@andrewhasarrived1904 amazing job brother
Hey brother, how much do you weigh? Also do you have an estimated cost if I was to get all the material from Lowe’s or Menards?
78kg I'm in Australia so i don't know those stores. sorry mate
Thank you 🙏
How many did it cost ?
If you shop around for the posts you can build it for around $100 in Australia.
Andrew has arrived thanks man 👌🏻
Still ok?
I think so. I gave it to my mate. I have built a home gym since then
What is the size of your pipe?
25mm in diameter x 1200mm long or
1" in diameter x 47.2" long
Andrew has arrived Thanks
As expensive the lumber is now . I think it’s cheaper to buy a pull up thing already made
10 years ago people were saying the same thing. Just save the money up and buy it
The question is: can I do muscle ups on it without it killing me?
I would love to test that out but i can't do one
You can use Stodoys to build it in the cheapest way.
In the next video, could you make one that does the pullup for me so I don't have to put any effort into it? Thanks! :3
I have been working on that one for a while 🙂
I know you're joking, but you can always wrap bands around your bar and put a foot in it for this purpose lol
