Awesome video. I have watched 6 videos about this job and none were this detailed. And the seatbelt around the steering wheel was a great idea to add.
Thanks!!
The torque click was organic 😂
Solid work. Thanks for the video guidance! Stay blessed
Thanks, you too!
Great video
Great job thx
thank you so much
Brooooo is it just me???!!!!😂😂
I know it’s not me😂😂😂
Fkin legend. Took that cotter pin out like a pro!
Thanks!
This was a great video. However, I am having a problem reconnecting the steering shaft coupler to the gear box. Do you have any tips?
Dam bro my freaking yukon has been nothing but a huge money pit!! I had just replaced the hydroboost like a month ago the alternator then the radiator then the batery then all 4 shocks then new rims and tires and not its leaking from the steering box like when does ot stop !! Oh i forgot to mention my transmission is not hiting 1st gear or 4th gear gerrrrr!!!!!!!!!
this looks so simple on a RWD 😭
I know right. The front diff is a pain in the ass but I got it done
What size motor, was this the 4.8L? Just trying to double check mines is the 4splines as well, is there a way to check before removing? Actually trying to replace most of my front end when i do this.
This was a 4.8. But sometimes you can try to look at the grooves closely while it’s still bolted on. It might be a little tricky.
@@mannydad thanks greatly appreciated
if you're replacing the pitman arm at the same time there's no need to remove it correct??
You kinda have to. So you can bolt up the new one
how did you make sure that the new steering box was centered?
Just remember when you remove it. Which way the pitman arm is pointing at. That’s why the pitman arm has 4 grooves in it also.
I seen someone turn it all the way mark where it turned on the shaft an on the box then turn all the way the other way an count revolutions then mark where it stopped then divide how many turns in half an put it in the center of both marks while counting the revs you divided
A new or rebuilt one should come centered from the factory.
Don’t you have to flush the fluids since you’re changing the gearbox?
You are correct.
Where can I get that pitman arm removal tool?
Got it from snap on
shop.snapon.com/product/Pitman-Arm-Pullers/High-Leverage-Low-Profile-Pitman-Arm-Puller/PAR6880
Where do I get the tool that you have for the Pitman arm removal?
Snap on.
Would 4x4 process be any different
Yes, the 4x4 components make it much more difficult to access the parts. Aside from that, the only specific difference is there is no room to get the pitman arm puller on the steering gear side of the arm. You have to pull the arm from the drag link and remove the box and pitman arm as one piece. Pulling the pitman arm from the drag link was a pain for me, the pitman arm puller wouldn't fit over the drag link so I had to use a 3 jaw puller in 2 jaw configuration to apply pressure, it still wasn't budging so I heated it with a torch and after a while of heating it, it popped off rather violently. If you go this route make sure your face is not in line with the puller when you heat the arm.
Just a bit. There’s less room. But you can wiggle in.
What size is the nut for the Pitman arm?
Can’t remember exactly. I think it’s a 32,33 or 34mm
How did you bleed it
When finished. Just fill it up with power steering fluid. Half way. Turn it on. Turn steering wheel left and right all the way. And it should bleed itself
Are u local in Los Angeles ? I need my trucks replaced
Houston Tx 🤘🏼
How much would someone charged for a water pump, power steering pump, & power steering gear box replacement job?
I wouldn’t honestly know. Everyone prices is different.
Thanks bro just wanted to know before I do it myself 😂
@@rickyjames4074 it’s an easy job. If you have the right tools
That's what she said 🤣🤣🤣
Ft lbs please
No torque soecs. Usually that is part of a how to. Any Captain Save A Hoes have something to say save it😅
Where did you get the torque specs from
I use AllData
