I’m going to choose to remember this assessment of Mike rather than others that weren’t very favorable towards the end of Ed’s career. I think Ed could have supported his son without disparaging Mike.
Sammy was correct when he defended Mikey in later yrs bout Eddie saying he had to show mike how to play or that he wasn’t playing good. I love Eddie but I believe when he was on the drugs and going thru his health issues early on. I just feel he was being spite ful to ex members cuz he felt pushing them away was best idk. But clearly he says without mike there’d be no Van Halen. And I believe he meant that. Mikey gave so much of the sound and backing vocals that can’t be touched by any other. And he’s an original member . And one of the nicest guys you could ever meet

Ed was a very insecure person despite his obvious talents and musical genius. He had issues with his ethnic origins and that’s what made him feel insecure. His mother was an Eurasian (Culturally Dutch but mixed Malay/European racially).

Sammy treated Mike right and they have a friendship closer to Brothers than friends, so it made sense for Mikey. They even cut Mike out of the 3 new songs for the comp that came out around the 2004 reunion tour. Ed was on an ego trip and if you ready Sammy's book, you'll know why Ed was acting the way he was.

Glen Frick of the SMG channel had some sage advice for new bands. He said you can easily distinguish your band from other acts by making harmony a part of your stage show. I took that to heart. I'm putting a band together and I told everyone if we dont have strong 3 part harmonies I'm not interested.
I often see Van Halen fans recognize and hold Mikey in high regard, which makes me happy. He definitely deserves the praise and recognition. Every van halen video on RUclips has tons of praising comments toward Mikey. Same with Motley Crue videos having tons of praise for Mick Mars. After so many years of them being seemingly unnoticed or not mentioned in regards to the band's talent.

It was because Mike continued to hang and play with Sammy after the Van Halen's fired Hagar. They didn't like that they went out and did VH songs together especially while billing themselves as the other half of VH.
Plain and simple…Mikey was friends with Sammy. They were pissed at Mikey for that simple fact. What better way to get back at Mikey and Sammy…especially Sammy? Get Roth back in. The whole 2004 reunion tour, making Mikey sign away all of his rights to the music, then to not have him play on the reunion tour with Roth. On the other hand it was pretty cool that he got to play with Wolfie and experience that together knowing what was to come.

Seen Van Halen many times, but one special highlight was on the VH 3 tour, Gary would go off stage and for 3 or 4 songs they would play as a 3 pc with Michael on lead vocals! Early stuff. I wish they would have continued as 3 pc. EXCELLENT!!

Glen Frick of the SMG channel had some sage advice for new bands. He said you can easily distinguish your band from other acts by making harmony a part of your stage show. I took that to heart. I'm putting a band together and I told everyone if we dont have strong 3 part harmonies I'm not interested.

I often see Van Halen fans recognize and hold Mikey in high regard, which makes me happy. He definitely deserves the praise and recognition. Every van halen video on RUclips has tons of praising comments toward Mikey. Same with Motley Crue videos having tons of praise for Mick Mars. After so many years of them being seemingly unnoticed or not mentioned in regards to the band's talent.

Ok I believe everything Eddie said right there about Michael Anthony .so I guess wat the million dollar question is what changed Ed's thinking not to many years after this when he kicked Mike outta the band and replaced him with his 16 year old kid at the time ????????
It was because Mike continued to hang and play with Sammy after the Van Halen's fired Hagar. They didn't like that they went out and did VH songs together especially while billing themselves as the other half of VH.

Plain and simple…Mikey was friends with Sammy. They were pissed at Mikey for that simple fact. What better way to get back at Mikey and Sammy…especially Sammy? Get Roth back in. The whole 2004 reunion tour, making Mikey sign away all of his rights to the music, then to not have him play on the reunion tour with Roth. On the other hand it was pretty cool that he got to play with Wolfie and experience that together knowing what was to come.
@@mortis5150 Well as kool as it would have been to play with your son yeah I get that especially if he (Ed) felt Mickey sided with Sammy over them .but if I would have been Mickey there's no way in "Hell" I would have signed my rights to song writings away .that was giving away probably millions of dollars over the long run .I don't kno of wat they offered Anthony (buy out) to sign off on future royalties like that .I'm guessing surely they did right ? Or maybe not but one thing is very clear to me is that Mike co-wote most of those songs from most of those albums (if not all of them til the fall out) and his background vocals was quite literally part of the main Van Halen sound .so yeah unless they offered him a lot of money I wouldn't have let them force me into signing anything .regardless of the fact that Mike made plenty of money playing with Sammy in the Circle or any of the projects he and Sammy were in

Seen Van Halen many times, but one special highlight was on the VH 3 tour, Gary would go off stage and for 3 or 4 songs they would play as a 3 pc with Michael on lead vocals! Early stuff.
I wish they would have continued as 3 pc.
