I understand that Alex is probably still grieving and that's understandable but someone in the organization could at least hire a social media manager to promote this brilliantly mastered new set. Right on brother I was that age when Van Halen Dropped In 1978 with their first album that was a mind-blowing s*** and 22 when 5150 came out. It's such a killer album
People often talk about "songs of the summer". There is no song more quintessential to summer than Summer Nights. It brings me back to my youth every time. Absolutely love that song.
Why Can't This Be Love was the first song I heard from this album, on a local radio station. That song blew me away and I just knew, this version of Van Halen is gonna be an ass kicker!
Absolute classic. Dreams, 5150, Love Walks In.....transport me back to '86 every time I hear them. There is no need to argue over which lineup was better, Roth or Hagar. They are just different and both great in their own respects.

A friend of mine and I ended up seeing Van Halen twice for each tour with Sammy by sheer coincidence for the first two tours. After that, we decided to keep up the tradition! I was so bummed when you guys broke up. Van Halen with Sammy was a soundtrack to my youth and they still are to this day! Love you guys!!

Alex never knew anything but Eddie being right there with him and I don't think I could do either. But the fans that followed VH feel screwed that no one has done anything for the death of EVH and the end of VH as a band. I got chills just hearing you say "Summer nights and my radio." Because it brings those nights RIGHT back to my mind. Hanging out with your friends. Drinking and smoking stuff that made everyone say, "act straight, here come the cops."

I was a 13 year old Van Halen fanatic, I loved the Roth era, and was heartbroken when I heard Roth left, but when I first hear Why Can't this be love I liked it but still wasn't sure, than my Dad bought me 5150 and when I heard HELLO BABY!!! I was hooked , to this day as a 50 year old 5150 is one of my favorites, and I embraced Sammy as the new singer! I don't give a fuck what old school Van Halen fans think! I fuckin love the Hagar era!! It was part of my teen year's and forever will be there..and it is in my opinion overlooked
Sammy was a way better singer…With Sammy the sky was the limit. And Ed was so happy because he knew this. These were the fresh days without band politics and managers dividing the band where the group worked like a unit…Or as Ed put it at the time ‘the ‘guvanor’ (Roth) is off the engine but the Sonovabitch IS GOING’ ..

But in BOTH environments it was Eddie who was the central creative driving force at the heart of the engine….Actually, Ed would have hated being called ‘the guitar HERO’…lol..In a recently unearthed Jas Obrecht interview when Jas asked him a question relating to that issue Sammy jokingly said to Eddie -‘Isnt he a terrible interview’ ? …lol…On the guitar hero stuff Ed would reply -‘What ? ….Kids all playing guitar like typewriters? ….Hey, that’s not MY fault’ 🤔 …lol
Just got the box set for the Hagar years. The remastered “5150” version sounds amazing. Always loved this album. One of the best in their entire catalog.
From the " Helllllloooo, Baaaaaaby greeting to the final note, 5150 is a great album. All the songs grab you by the nuts . It was perfect timing for Sammy, Mikey, Eddie and Al. Great times.
I knew Eddie was good since Ain't Talkin, but Summer Nights is the song that hooked me. Eddie liked the dark side and Sammy brightened it up some. Thanks Sam and Mike!
My boys & I would hit the beaches of San Diego with our boom box, play Summer Nights, & crank the volume when Sammy hit his “ oomph” after Eddie’s intro. Great times. Pity we didn’t realize that was the end of our teenage innocence.

When this came out, I was a very young man on a commercial fishing vessel for months at a time... This album saved my brain brother! Rocked the deck everyday! Sometimes just on repeat on the ole tape deck haha!! Love you guys!

But then turned around and played a VH song at someone else's event that had nothing to do with VH. Doing that brought up hope for a lot of us that he had changed his mind. But no. Alex doesn’t want to play a tribute because playing it onstage without his life long compatriot little brother being with him would break his heart. We have to cut Alex some slack on that…And Wolfgang feels the same missing his Dad. If there was a tribute to ED live the only way to do it would be for them to simply do the one track ‘CROSSING OVER’….ED’s original recorded guitar parts isolated with the others performing LIVE along side it…Pictures of ED on the big screen behind them and live - ALEX on drums,,WOLF on bass and backup vocals,,,,,Mike on bass and backup vocals (two bass/vocalists. Why not ? F*ck the rules) and Sammy singing the vocals but CHANGING the lyrics to be about EDWARD ‘crossing over’ and about how much they love him and miss him. The way Elton and Bernie Taupin changed the lyrics of Candle in the Wind for Princess Diana’s funeral. If there was a tribute that would be the only way to do it.

Oh man so many memories of VH and my dad. VH was his favorite band. I remember him being reluctant cause he was an old school VH fan. I remember him sitting in his truck for an hour listening to this on tape. Comes out of the truck and just says, hot damn that’s a perfect album.

All these songs bring back great memories! I hope they can get together one more time for a tribute to Eddie concert. Let Wolfe play lead guitar. It would be EPiC!

@@walterevans2118I understand, it's his dad and his path. Wolf said he wouldn't play any VH songs or organize a remembrance concert for his dad. But then turned around and played a VH song at someone else's event that had nothing to do with VH. Doing that brought up hope for a lot of us that he had changed his mind. But no. Don't screw with us. Just stick to one side of the road dude.
So pathetic that no one other than MA and SH are interested in giving EVH and the band a send off. I hope that Wolf and Alex won't stop MA and SH from doing these kind of videos.
@@pookiepookie8669 well, Wolfgang is on record as saying that the Sammy Hagar era of VH is undervalued and should be played much more. I think Alex might think that too actually. Alex doesn’t want to play a tribute because playing it onstage without his life long compatriot little brother being with him would break his heart. We have to cut Alex some slack on that…And Wolfgang feels the same missing his Dad. If there was a tribute to ED live the only way to do it would be for them to simply do the one track ‘CROSSING OVER’….ED’s original recorded guitar parts isolated with the others performing LIVE along side it…Pictures of ED on the big screen behind them and live - ALEX on drums,,WOLF on bass and backup vocals,,,,,Mike on bass and backup vocals (two bass/vocalists. Why not ? F*ck the rules) and Sammy singing the vocals but CHANGING the lyrics to be about EDWARD ‘crossing over’ and about how much they love him and miss him. The way Elton and Bernie Taupin changed the lyrics of Candle in the Wind for Princess Diana’s funeral. If there was a tribute that would be the only way to do it.

Hey guys, Loved the album and the concert! I can't believe people today are still analyzing songs off this album and are completely amazed at just how good those songs were. I can't thank you enough for a fantastic album that's been my favorite ever since.
The album that went through the stratosphere as far as emotion and sound. What…a…..album!!
I would love to see more videos like this where you two sit down and just tell stories of the albums being on the road and touring with other bands.
Oh man so many memories of VH and my dad. VH was his favorite band. I remember him being reluctant cause he was an old school VH fan. I remember him sitting in his truck for an hour listening to this on tape. Comes out of the truck and just says, hot damn that’s a perfect album.
