I just sort of have to feel it and go, so props to Dan for explaining it so calmly and Kika for not giving up. It's a necessary skill and confidence helps a lot, so it will get easier in the future now that you know you can do it. Also prop walk is a ***** when it's working against you like that. @@maggieferrell4538 it is complicated and takes years to master. I have sailed for many decades and still learn something new on every sail. However that shouldn’t stop you from sailing. Once you are hooked it is immensely gratifying. That is why you hear them often say that it was a great sail. Powering yourself over the water with just the force of the winds is almost magical.

The title to this episode is spot on! I don’t think any brown-skinned (or otherwise) beauties have done silks in the snow before and I have to say that Kika was mesmerizing. Such poise and grace. I was hoping that the silks did not suddenly think they were a spinnaker, broke free, and brought her to the Land of Oz! Despite not being in a bikini, this was a truly memorable episode! Well done.

One nice trick when reversing a boat with wheel steering (assuming the controls are all accessible) is to just stand on the other side of the wheel, facing backwards. No mental adjustment needed, both the wheel and throttle will behave just like you're used to 😊

@@SailingUma Sure you can, just turn your head every once in a while! Horses for courses I suppose, but for me personally, being "based" backwards makes for the least friction when reversing.

While that works for helming now the throttle and shifter are backwards. Either way works just fine you just need to practise to become comfortable with the method.

The people that advocated on your behalf and the authorities that granted you the permission to sail upon this magical journey I can only say to them thank you, thank you, and more thank you ... this is an amazing adventure. Of all the RUclips sailing channels out there, Sailing Uma is the best. Instead of looking at people easy sailing in the south in bikinis, you guys are wearing multilayer foul weather gear, sailing North of the Arctic circle, in the middle of winter showing us one of the most amazing scenery in the world. Your mastery of filming, editing and story-telling is outstanding. And, well, Kika doing silks in the snow with snow-covered mountains in the back? There are no words to describe that beauty.
