That outro riff gets me every time 🔥 The way it keeps forcing it’s way back into the track, you think it’s over and then HAND’S SHAPE STONE 🪦 but yeah, I do agree that it’s maybe a little too long. But I guess that’s just Prog music - I’ve found myself loving this a lot more after watching your reaction. Completely mood dependant and how ready you are to commit to 15/16 minutes of music. Great video man, appreciate the honesty🙏🏻
Sup Drew! That outro riff is 🔥 definitely my favorite part of this track. An entire song could be composed around that riff alone it’s so good. That probably would’ve grabbed me immediately if they started off with it in the beginning as well but they saved it for just the outro. They could’ve just looped that riff for 16 mins and we would’ve loved it it was so good. The track is good all around - great production, good melodic melodies, good musicianship, good writing, the bands sound really tight, but overall there’s nothing that really stands out from them to us. They have that familiar prog rock sound but nothing that makes them stand out from the rest. At least to us I guess. We also didn’t have the lyricism to the track which people are mentioning plays a big part of the emotional outlet/meaning during it. This definitely seems like a track you have to hear at the right place, time and mood to really catch onto it. But this is just our take on it they’re a good band just not for us “so far” Anyways thanks for stopping on by man always good to hear from ya. Hope all is well for you over there Ireland. All the best 🍻🤘
@@dmusiclife5727 Their latest album is much more polished and I think they really found their stride songwriting wise. Would definitely suggest trying a song from that album, like possibly Salt.
Prog requires patience and investment from the listener. I'm genuinely baffled that people who like Porcupine Tree can't get into this. It's beautiful. 🤷
You should check out "Marigold" for some more straight forward metal by Caligula's Horse. I'm not some big fan but they got some really good songs and yeah I love the outro of "Graves".
Yeesss I suggest them periodically too would love to see Devonian : Nascent (another Katatonia feat.), and Cambrian II: Eternal Recurrence or Pleistocene’s Music videos are really cool. Soo many other good songs. Hope they return to The Ocean too. They seemed to like them a lot.
Funny watching you guys react to this one and not knowing what to make of it. I was the same the first time. It's one of those tracks that takes many listens to 'get' it but once you do it's quite the masterpiece. They are a weird band for me because this is the only track from them that I actually like but it's quite amazing. Definitely worth another listen and check out the lyrics aswell 🤟
Definitely agree not sure if D was ready to give Graves and Caligulas Horse a fair shot, body language looked pretty tense. took me multiple listens to appreciate this band. Gotta read the lyrics to appreciate the story being told and the depth and substance behind the words.
@@bulletproofvita 100%. Hated the vocalist at first but after multiple listens i now appreciate his ability and subtlety and depth of emotion even if he lacks raw guttural power which i originally thought.
D have you ever heard King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard for a completely different genre of fantastic music? If not i highly recommend you check them out for your channel.
Oh man, just saw this after listening to their latest album Charcoal Grace. This band is pretty sick. You guys would probably enjoy The World Breathes With Me.
If ya'll haven't checked out Steven Wilson's (Porcupine Tree) solo stuff yet it should definitely be on your channel considering He's one of Opeth's singer Mike's favorite artists of all time and they've worked on multiple albums together :) his song "Drive Home" is almost Pink Floyd esc in its beautiful guitar solos imo
EDIT: leaving my original comment below. Re: the vocalist, I hear you. I can't get into Dream Theater for the same reason. For some reason this guy's voice just doesn't bother me. A vocalist can totally ruin a band though....Thank You Scientist? Same deal. Give them a listen some time...I'd be curious to see how you vibe with their singer. Definitely give them another chance! Marigold, Firelight, or especially Turntail...Graves is a great song but it takes a lot of listens to get into it. The songs I suggested are a little more digestible.
Please try listening to Bloom & Marigold (Together, without pausing, its important) by Caligula’s Horse - I guarantee 100% you'd get it this time around!
Great video. For me, if you dont already do this, it would be great for you to have the lyrics in front of you as well. But I understand it may take away from your 'raw' reaction to the song if you are having to read while the song is playing :)
Oh no I'm still at work and haven't even gotten to watch yet and you guys didn't like it :( hopefully my October pick featuring Steve Vai goes over better
I like Caligula's Horse but yeah, not my favorite. In comparison Haken is way better for my taste. Still, nothing beats Opeth. Except Pain of Salvation 😉. But even I sometimes wonder which band I love best.

May I recommend a return to the band called The Ocean? Last time you heard Jurassic/Cretaceous, now check out Triassic 🤘🏻

Leprous - Slave ( live at Rockefeller)....or Vola - Feed The Creatures! Vanishing Rites ..and/or Rust are two excellent songs by Caligula's Horse.
HANDS. SHAPE. STONE.
Maybe a few years from now you'll come around haha. Appreciate your honesty though, that's why you're the best. 🤘🤘
Periphery Reptile lets go long song and awesome masterpiece

@@ev6808 if ever a song is a grower it's this one ❤️

Try Mr Bungle - sudden death. Progressive thrash bro
Guys, I think it's prime time for you to react to the following masterpiece: Shylmagoghnar - Transience.
Please try listening to Bloom & Marigold (Together, without pausing, its important) by Caligula’s Horse - I guarantee 100% you'd get it this time around!
Funny that you put this video up when I’m going right now to their concert in Melbourne 🤣❤️
Their song titled “Fill My Heart” is probably their most well rounded song in terms of production
Potions by Pucifer
Y’all should check out thew band Baroness, they are very unique in the metal world, very atmospheric.
React to katatonia - july, please
Vola - Stray The Skies

The ocean
I can't either guys. I really wanted to like them and most prog fans seem to.
Gojira " wolf down the earth , Gojira from the sky live bordeaux 2009 ,Gojira space time the link alive ! 👃
The only issue i have is the ending too long , apart from that the singer has a great voice and the guitarist riffs are awesome
Anything by vektor. But please check out tetrastructural minds
Meh. Not my kinda music. Yes they are talented. Sounds like progressive power metal and i dont like any power metal.
Oh no I'm still at work and haven't even gotten to watch yet and you guys didn't like it :( hopefully my October pick featuring Steve Vai goes over better
I find this sounds aloooot like Plini!!
Guess it's just an Australian sound then ;p

After that it's time for some real music from TOOL parobol/parabola or push it studio version or Jambi I don't think you've done
Partly good but for me a bit too…eh…cute.
Sorry.
Good musicianship!
Stay Metal!
🤘😎🤘
First time listening to this band. Not my cup of tea but it’s just my opinion
Not sure if you checked out there other songs, they are pretty good. I never really liked this song either, it’s too long.
It's magnificent, and too short.
They are just boring
