It was cool to watch you experience this masterpiece for the first time! This album still stands as one of my Top 10 albums of the last 10 years, and Graves is the perfect finale. Like you said, I could listen to that "Hands Shape Stone" outro forever. This outro, the ending of Dead City Dead Man by Cult of Luna, the middle of Porcupine Tree's Anesthetize, and the "Sleep On, Fly On" section of BTBAM's Ants of the Sky are like my desert island music, the stuff that really makes me tick. Aussie's are doing their part musically, for sure, with C-Horse, Karnivool, Twelve Foot Ninja (RIP), Ne Obliviscaris, etc.
I've been listening to this song since it came out. I can't count the number of times I've gone on this journey. And yet, I still get chills when the final section starts.
A immensely underrated band with Jim Grey (vocalist) within modern prog-metal era. We've had to express and experience with the audience 😁 only discovered CH on streaming/digital platform "Bandcamp" (post-myspace). Who'd toured with various live promotion independent underground bands. Matua Trap: Collector. It's the debut album to which featured Josh Griffin (drummer) and Adrian Goleby (guitarist) also was the finale which featured Dave Couper (bassist). The album's closing title single track "Graves" the longest off "In Contact". CH have their fair share of long single tracks, given CH's genre. Most notably, "Alone In The World" from "Moments From Ephemeral City" "Graves", the fourth and final chapter of "In Contact" and the four-part suite title track of "Charcoal Grace". Various CH tracks have parts made for fan-interactions, notably "The Cannon's Mouth" and "Golem" big Jim often invites the fans to sing parts of "Oceanrise" and "Songs For No One" but the coda of "Graves" is CH's most iconic section for audience participations :)
I saw them about half a year ago and they ended with this, chanting “hands shape stone!” with a huge crowd was amazing, might’ve been the best show I’ve ever been to.
Recommend you check out their song Golem next - I think I can guarantee you will love it! I was lucky enough to see them live in September, and they were amazing as usual!
Aussie boys, absolute brilliant band, seen them open for opeth at the Sydney Opera house, their album charcoal grace is top 5 album for 2024... fornominal band
