Some people are under the assumption that instruments for taking care of the dead Don't need the same sanitary care surgical ones use. It's not for the deceased it's for the technician! Don't think the dead can't hurt you! My late husband was a morgue tech. And while stitching someone up broke the skin on his finger. He had a fever and infection. Treated with antibiotics he was fine but never forgot that.

And that's just it, during the pandemic especially, we heard about the medical & nursing staff but we never heard about funeral directors/embalmers who were also handling bodies. Those bodies still had the virus in them so the embalmers also had to be especially careful. Funeral directors/embalmers were also 'front line workers' and deserve just as much respect.

Neck Restraints? Slabs? Old chool embalming machine? In the trade embalmers use a head block to rest the head on the embalming table. It's a porcelaine table, not slab. The white embalming machines are called Porti-Boys which became popular in the early 1900s. That "Old School" machine was actually a new invention by Edwards Equipment in St. Louis, Missouri. I remember when my uncle installed it in his preperation (we don't call them embaling rooms) room in 1967. It's called a Duotronic Machine. It offers a little more control in injecting fluids.
The instruments you labled as autopsy, are actually actually forceps. The ones with the the holes are called arterial clamps. We use them to lock the injection canula into the artery we're injectng the arterial fluid into.
Shame on the owner who left that funeral home in such deplorable conditions. Especially the preperation room. Shame on you for makng this video and using words such as creepy. College graduates with a degree in Mortuary Science realize they are helping bereaved families transition through the loss of a loved one. God knows we're not in this profession for the money, or because we think it's cool to work on dead human bodies. I see a lot of bad things in this profession. Especially the death of a child. Many nights I hear the wailing of a parent when they see their child in the casket.
The sad part is viewers of your video will remember your trip to the "creepy" funeral home and label anyone who works in the industry a creep.

Whoever this guy was he was very fortunate to use Pierce and Dodge embalming products. What do you say before he was called Jaundy balm. It’s a very good fluid to mix in with your other fluids and pour into the embalming machine when you have a jaundice case. And belive , me a jaundiced body is a bitch unless you are very experienced because the discoloration of the skin has already taken place via the failure of the liver before the person died plus there’s always a lot of swelling. I have seen in the experience bullshit embalmers completely ruined any chance of a visitation of the loved one because of the fact they started off with a white or light skinned individual and ended up with a black individual due to their incompetence with jaundice embalming.

I have sooo many questions. If it’s been shut down for a couple of years, how are the lights still on? Like who’s paying the bill? And why is it still left as if they came in and closed it down that day, and never returned? Did they not have the time to even remove all of the equipment? Like somebody can literally come in and take a never used casket, take it to the funeral home that has their loved one and say I’ve already bought a casket… just so much😞

    • @BNails

Typically no. Those are called "Goliath" caskets, designed for those who are morbidly obese. They are often a nightmare to move around because of the size, plus many don't fit inside of a door at random places like churches. Putting flowers on the lid is insane since the lid is *huge*.

@@katherineleonowski7289 They would still put them in a normal casket. The big casket is made for a morbidly obese person. It's a PITA to move around and deal with. Plus it costs far more than a regular casket. It holds 1,000 pounds. Most people 2 or 3 don't add up to that much weight. I've seen parents buried with their children in normal sized caskets though.

As a class 1 funeral director and embalmer for 8+ years , unsanitary condition could be anything from having a uncleaned embalming room, chemicals not well labeled , improper storage of the remains and lack of maintenance within the facility. It could also be not disposing of toxic waste properly. I have worked with funeral homes in the past that had questionable work ethics or even non following proper procedures. Unfortunately there are funerals homes that only worry about profit margins and its more about quantity rather then quality and thats when standards starts to drop and standards fly out the window. Also record keeping is extremely important because for my funeral home here in canada, we are required to hold records up to 10 years such as death certificates, cremation permits , burial permits and funeral invoices because you never know when there are times you might have to go back and look at them again or if the Bereavement board wants to audit them. Im not gonna go on speculation about this funeral home but there are many different reasons that a funeral could be shutdown and your license suspended or revoked. This is why after each shifts , my staff does end of the day inspections, deep cleaning of the prep room, visitation rooms and chapel. Also we always get a work order ready the day before for the next day service. Im sure many of you would want a Clean , Sanitary and professional funeral home to take care of your loved ones

This abandoned funeral home is almost pristine compared to other funeral home videos here on you tube. Those caskets are worth quite a bit of money. The one you called a baby casket you were right. Had a 19 month old granddaughter pass away and that is exactly what her casket was. I could write volumes on it but won't. Don't want to spook anyone who has lost a child or baby.

Yeah, some of the videos on abandoned funeral homes are horrific. This one is in decent shape and doesn't have any bodies left behind thank goodness. I saw one video that looked like a tornado had whipped through it and had bodies left behind. They even found a stack of dead infants hidden in the ceiling in plastic bags. 😵

Ok, those aren't neck 'restraints', they are neck blocks, they're used to help position the head & neck & they're not 'autopsy' tools but embalming tools :) The large needle/syringe is usually used for fillers for preparing the body for viewing. I know way too much about this stuff, I can see why this place was shut down :/
