You guys have been the soundtrack to my life for the better part of 15 years and virtually every night as well. You turned me on to post-rock as a genre and allowed me to keep my mind open and use music to explore my own feelings and the universe. Thank you for the love and feelings, love you guys, thanks for accompanying me through my experience
I discovered Hammock in 2018 and before long had bought their entire discography. They became my favourite band, which is saying a lot, because I have some pretty awesome bands in my music collection. Hammock has one thing only a very select group of bands have: they're both prolific and endlessly creative. Out of their entire discography (excluding some remixes appearing in multiple albums), they've created well over a day's worth of music, and there's only a handful of songs in that entire collection that I don't like. They're amazingly consistent.
I had heart failure last year and spent 3 weeks in hospital alone - your music was my blanket. You continue to keep me warm. Thank you for the lump in the throat - Max
I've written probably 70% of the two novels I've written while listening to Hammock. Lyrics are distracting when I'm trying to make up my own words, and I got a Hammock song on speed dial for every emotive state I need to put myself into to write better. :) So thanks for doing what you do!
When he said going into a record store and asking who was playing in the store is exactly how I found Hammock. I bought "Everything and Nothing" right then. This band is so special and unlike anything else I've ever heard.
"You Lost the Starlight in Your Eyes" will always n forever be my favorite Hammock song. So hard to choose but that was my introduction all those years back n i've been listening ever since.
I actually found your first album in a record store back in 2005. This short film made realize I have been listening to you guys for 18 years! You continue to make albums that really give words to the times where I have no words. Your music cuts through the silence and really moves my heart. I can't express to you how much your music actually means to me. Keep making great music! Thank you!
Oh my Lord, you are so lucky :D I sometimes wish I too could have had such experiences as someone who's grown up in a very small village in Turkey. There was not much to speak of really, not even one music store that I know of within the nearest city. Also, being not too sociable did not help certainly. I hope that you know the worth of such memories, friend. :)
As someone who was born and raised in Nashville, I know exactly what you guys mean. Please keep up the amazing work, your music has helped me through so many good and bad times in my life.
Man you guys are spectacular; the music you create is just otherworldly. Thank you again for all of your efforts in creating beautiful music than can touch the soul of literally anyone on earth.
"The magic of sound... no need for lyrics" . What is incredible is some of the best moments of my life have been hearing some of these sounds... I can't explain that.
All this amazing soundscapes that you create is really magic. Thank you so much for this beauty and feeling of vitality that inspires me for more than ten years... 🙏
"I could hear the water at the edge of all things" video by Alex Amoling always brings tears to my eyes for multiple reasons, thank you both for your wonderful music. Kentonic helped me with thoughts and feelings through high school and beyond. We may not be a huge audience but you both have touched and helped many lives. Thank you.
Thanks for making music that goes against the grain and truly being passionate about it. Focusing on the music you want to make w/o being influenced by the current market of music, is true musical art IMO. Keep expanding our minds in ways it would’ve never happened unless listening to your art. It truly is a blessing 🙏
Love it! A Hammock record release is something I have to set time aside for because I get hooked fast and need an hour to listen to the full album of all songs in sequence. Then I need an hour afterwards to decompress. With Love In The Void, I experienced tears a couple of times while listening to it in its entirety for the first time last week while driving the entire length of the Bruce Peninsula, here in the Northern Hemisphere. These behind the scenes videos are a really special thing to see. Thanks Brian Siskind and Hammock. If making Love In The Void weren't enough of a mountain of work, making these videos really is project overtime. These videos are a privilege that is appreciated. After recently listening to Lumenette's All Around My Head and Hammock's Love In The Void, I'm left speechless and with a sense of wonder, immersed in transcendent magic. Powerful stuff y'all. Looking forward to the next video chapter. Fingers crossed for more thoughts from Marc, Andrew, Christy, Matt and anyone else on the project.
Already you are rich and have what you want. You both are a huge blessing. May God bless your music and may you praise Him with your supernatural creativity for He knew this talent was in y'all. Please keep creating music and if I can ever see you live, it will be a huge blessing in my life. I cannot wait for your next album. This one was pure and so relateable to my year of grief and journey into recovery this year. Thank you forever.
Hammock’s music IS magic. It absolutely emotionally impacts you as you listen to it and takes you on a personal journey. It is without a doubt some of the most amazing music I’ve heard. To be able to harness the listeners emotions as they do by purely expressing their musical creativity and staying true to why they do it commands my respect. They are Solid Musicians who are in it for all the right reasons.
Have any of you fans realize this is like the first time we hear the guys speaking. At least for me. Remember the first time we heard Hammock (For me 13 years ago)?? I know I am just (what you call it "fan girling" now :-) :-). I will not apologize since I am 57!. Ok, serious now..Thanks!! We need more of this :-)
You should check out a podcast interview Marc did a few years back. The podcast is called everyday theology. Even if you aren’t religious, the conversation is very insightful
They have a video called "The House Where We Grew Up - Marc Byrd Featurette", its a similar video, but way longer, you should check it out if you havent.
@@patriarchification Any idea where to find this? Is it on RUclips? There are many videos with "Everyday theology" as the title or part of it. Thanks! :)
It's great to get a mini documentary of your thoughts. I agree with you about instrumental music. I've been a fan since I first found your music about fourteen or so years ago
Thank you for doing what you do. Like for most people here, your music has helped me through many ups and downs unlike no other band. I hope to see you folks live someday soon :)
Kenotic is an incredible album. I started writing ambient music, myself, as a way to cope with my own emotions and then I discovered hammock and it really made me understand what music could do for the heart
I love and resonate with everything you said here as both a musician and human being. Especially creating music out of response to life itself. Thank you so much for your beautiful music. It's gotten me through some challenging times over the past couple of years.
I'm simply going to have to buy the whole catalog. There's nothing else I can do! Hands up everyone who's sang along to the "aaaaAAAAaaaa" at the end of "This is not enough" (Okay, not "lyrics" but a means for us mere mortals who are not Hammock to join in a song beyond "air guitar", "air drumming" and nodding.)
OMG. I’m such a huge fan of you guys. My dream guitar tone, my dream vibe… Although I make LoFi and chill beats but you guys just make my chest hurt multiple times over the years. Lots of good wishes from India 🇮🇳
The best song and I'm most like it is the house we grow up. Feels like we walk the lane of past especially the last guitar part.. It makes me cry when realize is was all the past. Would you come to Malaysia hammock?
@@marcbyrd4737 I'm talking about your social media stuff that I've seen, that's all. I think keeping it separate is better personally because how divided it is these days unfortunately
Departure songs is and always will be my favourite album. It's so nice to actually hear you speak about the music you make.
Ditto. No matter my mood, Departure Songs is always a winner for me.

@@Specific. I cannot understand why they never released the vinyl of it...probably because it would be a quadruple vinyl, hence too expensive to make?

Not me crying at my desk realizing your leitmotif is "impermanence" and that resolves why I am so addicted to it. We live on borrowed time.

I believe that music is more pure without singing. Both are fine.
IMO the human species is garbage but there are a few sparks of light here and there. Hammock is one of them.
