Bought a new Stihl 044 in 1988, no decompression valve, no problem. Later I purchased a Husqvarna 372xp that had a decompression valve, plugged it and never missed it! I have a McCulloch SP 125 with decompression valve, for me, VERY much needed!
Do you have suggestions on how to stop a 455 Rancher from leaking bar oil while not in use? My local repair shop has no idea why it leaks. I've found several comments from people online, who have the same issue with Husqvarna chainsaws leaking oil.
I finally found a RUclips video explaining how to correct the problem. Evidently, the side cover doesn't provide enough pressure to make a tight seal to prevent bar oil from leaking. Laying a bead of silicone caulk along the bottom edge near the pump should be an effective fix.
I saw one YT video that recommended using Loctite 518 to seal the oil pump onto the rubber piece that conveys the oil from the pump to the bar. 518 is a gasket substance, so maybe silicon would work as well. They applied it on other sealing surfaces, too.
Did the compression valve still move up and down or was it stuck open. I have the same saw and no compression , I checked the valve and it is really black but goes up and down. I took the muffler off and the piston and cylinder look good.
The valve still moved up and down it just took more force than the saw could make. If you pull it up and it makes compression then you just need a new one. If you pop it up and it still doesn’t make compression it might be carboned up and need cleaned. Also you might want to make sure that both the compression valve and the spark plug are tight. Hope this helps
I'm in the same boat with a husqvarna 550xp. I bought it cheap at a flea market and it had bad gas in it( smelled really bad) so I took a chance. Got it home and tuned it up with fresh gas, fuel filter, plug and still wouldn't start. Checked the compression and reads 85psi. It's not pushing the decomp valve back out,but even when I pull it out manually it still reads 85psi. Pulled the muffler off and the piston and cylinder look good. I'm hoping it's just the valve. I'll plug the hole and live without it.
I have a new saw that seems to go off of decompression before it starts, and I can't get it started. Looked for videos to see if anyone else had a problem like this. It's a 92cc saw and I need it decompressed to start. Looks like I will need to call customer service. My valve moves too freely, and I believe it's just popping open without doing me any good at all.
Please can you help me.I have HUSQVARNA 365 special. It is relatively new.On the decompression valve and under have little oil and carbon. Anyway,It seems that chainsaw work normal and the compression is good... I don't use decompression valve for starting..Sorry for my bad english. Thanks for your answer...
@@hunterbunch2720 Do I need to change valve ? I saw on some videos that lot of workers puts plug and chainsaw work normal. Many says that is normal to have carbon and oil on valve. Can you tell me your opinion?
Yes I think that if you aren't going to use the compression valve then you could put a plug in it that way you would know for sure that couldn't be a problem in the future
My 395xp is spewing out gas every time I pull up the pullhandle... And I noticed it has to small holes on one of the nuts. That can't be right or is it normal
I have this saw and two other smaller Huskies neither of which have this valve. Size matters I guess. Kind of a dumb place to put said valve UNDER the handle and hard to get to. Don't know why they didn't put it on the other side so that it would not be blocked by the handle. Seems like some pretty poor if not lazy engineering to me. Thanks for the video.

Thank you brother I was stumped by something so simple.
You’re welcome, thought I’d share since I had the saw almost completely taken apart before I noticed this.
Thank you !! Almost replaced my cylinder
Don’t think of them sticking open so much. But have seen others where they had interference with the top covers etc. Thanks
Thanks! Would have been cool if you had tried to start it before and after the repair.
I have an older husky 55 farm boss. Is it the same location?

I've Had to Store My ChainSaws With TheBar Pointing Straight-Up, Due to UnUsed Bar-Oil Leaking.😒
Chicanic covered this, but I don't recall the details.
Thicker bar oil… and or adjust bar oil flow .., keep everything clean 😎

Is the gas spewing out of the decompression valve?
If this works....THANK YOU!
Very helpful

Im deleting mine never use it
Did you go back by and tell that guy that he lied to you? Write him a bill for the repair! I hate liars!
Thank you.
So That "#2" Plug *IS* a CompressionRelease.🤔
I Thoughy it Might've Been TheBarOil-"Stopper"...
Due to My Saw Leaking UnUsed Bar-Oil.😒
