- In this episode we cover a simple follow up attack to an Oberhau. Our interpretations are based on the quarterstaff section in the treatise of Paulus Hector Mair (PHM).

Its nice that you guys make simple short videos wich make learning much smoother
Nice, unlike the sword, you have to actually take into account many other things than just holding the weapon firmly, you have to be more flexible, which is very nice.
Will you some day teach us about how to fight against or with various kind of weapons (like sword vs spear) or how to fight against armored men?
We are indeed planing something with heavy armor in the not so distant future. :)
Various kinds of weapons maybe at some point. It is a really interesting problem to solve, unfortunately there are only a few transcripted techniques covering this.
Armoured men, you need jiujitsu
@@kelamullah1999 Um no....you need a blunt instrument to drop them with a blow to the head then a dagger to shove into their eye socket.
@@kelamullah1999 Interestingly, there are old European martial art styles used from these times and were combined with weapon skills, both in and out of armour. The two major ones we know of from Medieval times are Ringen and Abrazare, and they are almost identical to Japanese Jiujitsu in how they function.
I could watch much longer vids on this, but there's something about the short vids which is nice
Very much looking forward for the release of the rest of the series.
coming up soon! :)
Já estava sentindo falta..ótima instrução!
obrigada :)
amazing, keep them coming :D
Nice love the staff fights videos
thx!
Estamos assistindo novamente e queremos criar um arquivo,ótimas instruções não podem ser perdidas. Muito muito bom
Like them very much.
Please more of this. :)
I heard that quarterstaffs were the most dangerous weapons because when sparring with literally any other weapon your not using the weapon itself you are using a non lethal version of it but when sparring with a quarterstaff how do you have a non lethal stick
That is absolutely correct. The staff is among the most dangerous weapons to sparr with (in our experience), since it is very difficult to find a suitable sparringsweapon that is safe and can be handled the same way like an actual staff.
Specially techniques like the "helicopter" strike (which we show on episode 4) are very, very dangerous if applied in even friendly sparring.
@@Dreynschlagthe closest thing would be a very long paper towel roll
Will there ever be a video where Gedi lands the last strike? :))
We might have an idea or two... ;)
"two" sounds much better to me :D
Qual a medida do bastão?
Ok. So where do you sell the shirts, eh?
I need that sticker

How do we counter this move then is the real question...
stay tuned. We gonna go from there in the following videos... :)
Joachim told me to ask why your staffs are so tiny.
Paulus said: He always wondered what Joachim tried to compensate... 😂
Because Paul told us so. And since his crew has the superior beards, we accepted him as the authority on this matter... ;)
I'm new to quarterstaff fighting and one thing strikes me (pun intended) : the lack of hand protection.Even with a simple attack like this it seems dangerously easy to hit your opponents hand. Is this a problem when sparring ? If so, how do you deal with it ?
Also, nice video.
Na, they got protection glove things
Of course they do, that's not what I meant. Mair's system represents unarmored fighting, so you shouldn't need gauntlets to pull off his techniques
Steeve Martial oh... then there must be some hand protecting techniques, or u just wear gauntlets just in case... but I’m no expert so I can’t say anything about this... but I think it is easy to slide ur hands on tht staff, maybe just slide away?
I don't know if you can just slide your hands fast enough or how convenient it is (when attacking for instance). That's why I'm asking them. This kind of problem would be revealed when sparring, when your opponent doesn't attack exactly the same spot on your staff.
Steeve Martial yeah... I should probably shut up before I make a fool of myself...
where do I get that shirt?
which one?
the one the instructor has on?
It's one of our own designs. Right now we are checking out options how to ship to international locations. I hope we manage it within the next couple of months. We will keep you updated!
great! moreover where do you get or swords and how much impact can they take in training. I use hardened bamboo but wanted to switch to blades. mind passing along where you got them?
The sword Gedi uses is a slightly modified Embleton forged by Pavel Moc.
