- Sometimes things don't go as planned when breeding snakes. Females may throw all slugs, nothing at all, or they can become egg bound. The latter of which we had to deal with today. Hopefully you can learn something from our experience!

Oh my goodness! Rex is so small here. I forgot how little she was just a few years ago, and that it was so recently that you found out she was a girl.
I had forgotten too. I have seen rex in twitch cam they have on her and thought she had grown up a bit. But the growth is a lot bigger than i initially thought.
Gender mess ups can be so confusing later on.😂 going from he/him good boy to she/her good girl can throw ya for a loop. 🤣

IT'S NOT A PHASE MOM1! because she has hand raised her. However, trust as absolutely NOTHING to do with that snake letting this woman take those eggs, Bull snakes literally want nothing to do with the eggs they lay at all what so ever. They do NOT stay with/protect their eggs at all, they simply spit the eggs out and then leave them.
Snakes aren't capable of trust I'm afraid.

@@BethanySpencer-mz7ej it's a different kind of trust from dogs or humans though. Snakes can't really be affectionate towards a human.
A dog would probably trust you so much that he'd do stuff that would kill him if you told him to.
A snake just knows that you don't harm them and that you provide food.
They can tell a difference between humans, we smell very strong and different after all. :)
If your snakes comes out when you go to the terrarium it's not because it's happy to see you, it's probably hoping for food or that you take it out because it's curious and wants different stimuli from the ones in its tank.

There may be a slight variant in temp if you stack them without forced circulated air. Shouldnt hurt them or anything but may cause them to hatch on different days. I know this was filmed a while back but for anyone now watching maybe this will help. If you have a force circulated incubator it doesnt matter I believe

I was really afraid of snakes, but when I saw your channel, I became less afraid. Now I absolutely love snakes. I have two ball pythons now, but not quite sure what their genders are😅. I think they might be both boys, but not sure. Their names are Lucy and Sly.

I'm a 57 yr old woman that has loved snakes since I was a little kid running around our property in a very rural area, catching snakes & playing with them. Sometimes I'd put them in a big gallon jar (lid with holes, of course) but would always let them go within a few hours then do it again the next day. Chances are I probably caught some of the same ones over & over, LOL.
I was just 4 yrs old when my step-dad taught me not to fear them & they have their place in the environment. As farmers & having silos on our property full of corn, soybeans, etc rodents can be a BIG problem. Snakes are natures pest control. He would catch them with me & taught me which species were safe & the one's to stay away from (venomous). We only have 3 venomous in our area, Rattlesnakes (2 varieties), Copperheads, & Water Moccasins (also called Cottonmouth) so they were easy to learn.
I am sooo grateful he did that with me or I may have had that typical fear of snakes that most people do. I've owned my share of Garter snakes, Great Plains Rat snakes, & Bullsnakes over the years. I've owned Ball Pythons since the mid 90's. My first one was not an intention purchase but rather a rescue that I found living in HORRID conditions, was near death & had the worst RI (respiratory infection) that I'd ever seen. Got her quickly to a Vet & saved her. I had her for 20 yrs before she passed. She was already pretty old when I got her & I STILL miss her very much. Took me several years before I got another one. I guess I feared going through that loss again. But I finally did get another BP, Ivy, a real sweetheart🥰

@@ladysunsdown1699 oh yeah the situation is very different but an unfertilized egg is an unfertilized egg, whether from a chicken or from a snake. i think just a shell with some unused genetic material with some nutritious fluids. i do remember being scared though as a kid that i would crack open an egg and a chick would fall out x)

I adopted a Desert King last november who wasn't eating. Turns out it was a single slug egg that was clogged up with old bedding the last owner kept her on. (Coconut husk) she had never laid eggs before and had to have surgery to remove this lump. Despite everything she's been through, she has never struck at me or acted any differently and quickly regained her appetite. Although it did take a few months for her stitches to dissolve.

Can I just say how much I love your videos! I've watched so many other reptile breeders and have had a hard time seeing how they "care" for them. Your snakes habitats are so much better, it's very obvious you love and care for them! Even the way you handle the eggs is with love and care.
