- From bathing, to feeding, to cleaning, in this video I share with you my day-to-day life with a pet alligator! Rex is a rescued American Alligator that had a rough past, but we try to make her as happy as possible now :)

She probably does that literally all the time. lmao It's like when you pick up your cat and it's pissed off. You know it's pissed off, but you also know that as long as you hold it a certain way or do things a certain way, it won't/can't hurt you. lol The towel over the head certainly helped.
To be fair it is her animal and she knows it best and can gauge when it's best to give her space or when she can still pick her up. I have a bearded dragon and I've had to pick him up while hes puffing at me because I know he most likely wont bite considering hes never even snapped at me

Watching this is 2022 - it's amazing how much larger she's grown despite being a stunted adult! So amazing to see; it's obvious you guys have taken excellent care of her during her time with you two.
I was just thinking that when I saw her in the tub! Like she would hardly fit in those kiddy pools now 3 years later! Not to mention how much better her teeth look now

I usually don’t like watching people who have a ton of reptiles because there can be issues with making sure all of the animals are taken care of properly. But you guys are truly some of the most wonderful people I have seen ❤️

@@kzkid1 They are always taking good care of their animals even fostering and rehoming neglected ones. Maybe have a problem with people who actually obviously don't take proper care of their reptiles / animals dude.
They are professionals with their own staff.
You think they are amazing people,even though they take all these animals away from their lives in their natural environments, keep them in captivity trapped inside a tanks,glass prison cell,etc.

Going back and watching this is wild, Rex is obviously still stunted but it seems she's grown so much since this video now that she's receiving adequate care
Watching this again in 2022 there's a difference between how big she is now and then three years ago and she looks super cute still today!

Here I am, years later, rewatching Rex videos because I just can’t get enough of her. It has always been so interesting to me that she kept her juvenile stripes as opposed to what she would look like in the wild. I can’t wait to make a trip up to Tiny Cola one day to see the zoo!

I am greatful that you took Rex and are caring for her so well. She doesn't deserve what she was living before. I just would never have one myself as I have enough to do without the addition of all the work to care for an alligator. I love having fish and snakes , even lizards just not the ones that would rather eat me than what I want them to eat.

This is RL XD When i go to buy food for the dog and cat (i make my own) at the store i get like 20+ lbs of meat and the cashier is always like "oh, having a cook out???" and im like uh... nah... the only human food is the bag of chips" same thing when i had rabbits and bought pounds of veggies every weak for them XD

No it really isn’t. Alligators are NOT meant to be a pet and NOT meant to be affectionate. Rex was taken from the wild just when she was hatchling, she was taken away from her wild habitat and was not cared for properly.
Darnell Arford that's not exactly true. Look up the crocodile from Costa Rica. You can tell that crocodile definitely felt some sort of affection for his human, may not be the same as other animals, but I wouldn't say they are incapable either.

Ah, yes. The days when Rex was smaller than what she currently is to this day, and the time were Snake Discovery fam did not know Rex is a girl yet until this video. Rex is still a good girl. I love coming back to your old content Emily and Ed, helps me re-educate myself on some reptiles.

Well, it's actually to avoid it getting in her eyes but I'm sure she does like it. Even captive bred alligators do not like to be picked up and she doesn't mind them touching her. Very impressive for a previously abused animal :)
sorry to break it to you but reptilians usually dont like being touched and we shouldnt try to give them human emotions. An alligator closing his eyes doesnt mean he enjoys it. He might just tolerate it. It might annoy him. There is no easy way to tell
@@JustScrapHD alligators can still itch. It might have felt good to get it scratched. Enjoyment isn't a human emotion, cats, dogs, and birds all feel enjoyment while playing. I understand what you mean, alligators can't love their owners, and they shouldn't be thought of as pets, but no one said Rex loved Emily, just that Rex probably felt good from the scratch.
I hope the walls and foundation of that room aren't rotting away. Water can be so destructive sadly.

K P it’s for safe travel. So she can be taken from one location to another without stress or bodily harm to the alligator or the handlers.
that’s a big enough box for her, she has room in it and it’s for travel purposes

American alligators are pretty chill, they're still giant predators who hunt via ambush tho so i cannot recommend them as pets lol
