What’s poppin, Mutos? It’s me MT and Welcome back to the HS show! This is a breakdown of Episode 3 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters…that features another sighting of the king of monsters himself and ending with the reveal of the…chillest monster of them all. So strap in to your seats, Gang because we’re about to get into it!
And the episode starts with the camera eye of monarch watching over a recently Rogue leland Shaw. who, at the end of the last episode, cut off the tracking bracelet that monarch had placed on him well they had him in solitary confinement. A solitary confinement that Tim’s boss Natalia Verdugo later refers to as a “generous retirement”... So I'm super curious as to what exactly landed this former military man in monarchs secret slammer for sneaky seniors.

Let us know your thoughts on the latest episode below!
Godzilla, uses underwater tunnels in the Hollow Earth to swiftly travel to different locations. He even has Temple underwater.
I want to know how you stole MT 😂
Paul you fuckin legend. Also your humour kills me.
I have a theory time Hear me out, in numerous Gozilla related movies there seems to be Japanese twins that have some profound connection to the plot or sometimes just an easter egg. I think that combined with the duality surrounding Cate and Kentaro it will be revealed that they were born in the same year, making them an analog to the previous twins and this will be part of the reason their father had two families, Rhaegar style in an attempt to have the twins.
Using Kurt and Wyatt is just a genius piece of casting, I just love Kurt Russel in general, just commanding in every role.
Came here for this comment
I love every scene Kurt and Wyatt are in. Keiko chose poorly when she chose Randa. Randa deserved to be eaten by a monster for stealing another guys's girlfriend.
Agree👏👏👏👏
@@orion7011wow! Lol
Someone else brought up the weird thing with Shaw’s age. The fact that they specifically pointed out how old he is compared to how old he looks, is probably a clue to something. Maybe the radiation Titans produce has strange effects on people.
Yeah. Totally! That was absolutely indicating sth has happened to him. Or maybe Monarch used him as some sorta Test Subject, since they specifically called his retirement program, the " *Asset* Retirement Program ". I mean C'mon?! Asset?!
Came to this video for this exact point.
@@jake_gon_jinnAsset is a common term used for people who gather information for intelligence agencies.
My mom caught that as well
In kong skull island John c riley's character Marlow mentions that some of the natives seemingly never age. I think we are in to something. Hell there was a bit in the end credits of Kotm that mentioned plants grown from titan waste are healthy
I'm really enjoying this show. There's so much world building happening and this episode was probably my fav so far. But my only gripes with it is the character building and some of the dynamics. If I'm being honest, I'm not invested/interested enough in the story of the two main characters (the half siblings), the 3 characters from the past sequences are way more interesting than the current ones (except for the Legendary Kurt Russell). And to add to the more positive stuff about this show, I think the CGI and the visuals in general looks so neat, especially for a TV show with a lower budget than a blockbuster.
U nailed it how I feel too, I'm hoping each episode gets better than the last throughout the season
@@DeRockMedia Yeah, I hope so. Cause I love the MonsterVerse and this show adds so much to this franchise. I just need em to spend a lil bit of time with each character to make em relatable.
@@jake_gon_jinn i just wish we got more of the monsters, im hoping they saved the budget to go all out in the final episodes...i know cgi is pricy but still would like more monsters to pop up
I feel the same way! Love the world building! I expected the usual from monster shows badass monsters and boring humans but Kurt Russel is actually a REALLY good addition to the show! At least we have one interesting human 😂
@@Jcoronado9093 Word. He's a legend. I'm so glad they cast him and his son as the same character in two periods of time.
Godzilla, uses underwater tunnels in the Hollow Earth to swiftly travel to different locations. He even has Temple underwater. I don’t think he can teleport lol
Those tunnels are literally portals. Wormholes. They had a whole sequence of them going through the portal and everything.
@@MasterTainmentit’s him MTim
Lol. Its funny and interesting to hear how little they know. Like when the General asked "how can this thing be walking around and no one notice it?" Well.. that's how.. he swims around in tunnels.
@@MasterTainmentDon't try to save it, you were implying Hiroshi could just pop out in the same area next to his daughter. In order for people to use those wormholes they needed those special subs to even reach those depths and they only appear out the other end of the wormhole not immediately on the surface of wherever they need to be.
@MasterTainment hey bro that wormhole/portal only showed up once in GvK but remember when Godzilla blast a hole to the center of the earth and roared into it and Kong heard him, that time no portals just a big hole that they all went through to go back. How would Godzillas atomic breath make it through a wormhole let alone make a bigass hole in the earth.
Still love your theories though!!
My guess to why they thought Godzilla was dead after the nuke went out is maybe the sheer force of the blast knocked him out for a little.
It's probably because at this point of time they have no info about the abilities and genetic typology of these Titans. But I was wondering if they had encountered the Godzilla in the past, what was the point of Skull Island?! The senate was mocking Monarch ppl, and the government in general thought em as Crazy Monster Chasers or sth. They literally had a Military encounter with the beast in 50s and yet they had no clue if they existed in Skull Island?! 🤔 That was wired to me.
They have no way to track Godzilla. Dude probably ate the nuke and then dipped to go take a nap before the mushroom cloud subsided.
He run off with his tail between his legs
Never have I heard anyone refer to him as ‘the Godzilla’.
@@Lion-O-Richie2040Godzilla now rants what its pronounce like some woke woman?
Anyone notice Godzilla in the camera lens? The first time you see it it just looks like an outline of Godzilla with the trees being his back & spines, but the next shot of the lens (after its done adjusting) it looks like you can see Godzilla staring at you with his mouth open! I thought that was a dope easter egg!
When did that happen? I must've missed it
@@LeekVision0:23
@@LeekVisionit happens 14 seconds into the episode! Its when it shows the camera adjusting!
@M00PSY Thanks, I'll rewatch it for that part when I get a chance cuz I must've missed it the 1st time around lol
2:57, I’d say this shows that Randa hasn’t met Brooks yet, who canonically appears to be the first person to introduce to Monarch the idea of the Hollow Earth and the network of subterranean tunnels kaiju would travel around, making them undetectable with human instruments.
As for Cate’s father, you can just as easily chalk that up to a writing contrivance to get him to his daughter before saying his goodbye’s to her that could have been made smoother had he just said his goodbyes over the phone. Although, it is more dramatically effective that his goodbyes are in person, as both actors get to emote off each other.
4:33, Kieko’s horror at Godzilla being attacked with a nuke is more likely due to the fact that, before this event, no one knew just how powerful Godzilla was or that exposure to radiation would only strengthen kaiju. It also mirrors Serizawa’s affinity to the creature and how upset he was when he was nearly killed by the Oxygen Destroyer missile.
Both these Japanese scientists having such care for kaiju, especially Godzilla (in context, due to the notion that he is necessary to maintain balance in the kaiju population, indirectly protecting humanity and the planet from them), mirrors Japan’s own affinity with the fictional monster, how he started off as an embodiment of nuclear devastation before evolving into a force of nature that protects the country and the planet from other more malevolent forces. Serizawa himself is an alternate version of the original Godzilla film’s Serizawa, who killed that film’s version of Godzilla with the Oxygen Destroyer chemical he designed, whereas this continuity’s version eventually goes on to heal Godzilla with a nuclear blast at the cost of his own life.
Nobody reading allat😂
@@marquisfromtrack4332 I did.
@@marquisfromtrack4332 I did, it was actually a pretty good lore breakdown, better than the actual video.
That and Brooks was probably a baby in 1954. I love this comment, feels more informative than the actual video.
I did read. Nobody care for you, I guess?@@marquisfromtrack4332
Doesn’t Godzilla travel around inside the Earth? There’s no teleporting. Hiroshi didn’t “teleport” lol, when he found out his daughter was at the same place as him he hung up and looked around
Preach, not sure why he said teleporting. I Mean they even showed how Godzilla gets around in one of the movies
Yea lol what the fuck? Way off.
Guess he didn’t watch GVK? Weird oversight
@@OGMrWaynebecause at this point they are not aware of the hollow earth theory yet
I swear this guy MT's reaching hard for some weird conclusions. Same as the anti-Godzilla sign. It's not exactly the same at all. He also misses some super obvious details. Like idk if he's just reading off a script or even watching the vid as he's narrating.
I'm loving this episode and the series in general. I've rewatched all the Monsterverse films between last week and this episode to see the connections. As for whatever saves them, Plot Armor is very strong against MUTOs lol. I don't see any of them getting chilled out just yet, we still have to get an answer for the implications of Lee Shaw's extraordinary lifespan
The biggest clue was when the sergeant mention that being 90 is due to good genes. Feel like the radiation or the monster had an effect on him.
I think that this series is great, I like the idea of monarch being this dodgy spectre/x files kind of relentless threat. It makes you question who are the monsters. Really enjoyed it so far.
I absolutely love the show, I'm also a big fan of the movies.
No Mention or theory on Shaws age?? He should be around 90. May and his pilot friend comment on his age and how he looks great. Something is helping his aging.
I'm surprised that Kurt Russell and his son play the same guy 😮. If he was 30 at 1955, that would make him 90 at 2015 and yeah a 90 year old does not fly planes or look like kurt russell "good genes" be damned 😂. Maybe he drank some of that monster juice to stay young.
Theres definitely something at play there that we'll find out later. At least I hope so because yea 💩🚫➕👆🏽
Gonna be part of the story
Godzilla doesn’t need to teleport… they already explained how he (and other kaiju) get around unseen. They use the hollow earth passageways that allow them to seemingly disappear and appear out of nowhere without a trace, and many of those holes are in the ocean but there are apparently a bunch of them on land as well.
I’m guessing that is one explanation for the ship in the Philippines: Theory one, the monster dragged the ship down into one of the tunnels and up out of an extrance/exit in the Philippines where it sits.. or Two, the one we saw is a baby and Mommy dragon flew the ship there and set it down, hatching eggs and leaving food preserved for her baby/s.
But as far as teleportation… Godzilla doesn’t need to. He swims hella fast, and has 🎵SECRET TUNNEL🎶s that have some sort of acceleration effect. They explained it in King of the Monsters and they even used one to reach “Atlantis” where Godzilla was living to heal him with the nuke, remember? There seem to be pathways that act like those moving walkways in airports, they have currents that allow Godzilla to cover the distance of the planet in a matter of hours, appear out of nowhere and then disappear just as fast.
It was in '73 when Bill Randa and Monarch operative Houston Brooks discussed the former's Hollow Earth theory in "Kong: Skull Island", but teleportation wasn't in the conversation --only a possible network of subterranean tunnels and entry points were mentioned. ...The chillest Titan's name was revealed yesterday by Apple TV. It's called a Frost Vark. Not sure which mythology the 'Vark' part is derived from. Norse, maybe or was it coined for the series? A variation on the real life species, Aardvark?
yup. I love Christopher Heyerdahl too. Under-rated actor. I first knew about him from the Van Helsing tv series. Then also Salem's Lot series and movie Under the Banner of Heaven. Which also included Wyatt Russell as one of his sons. He can play any role. So happy he is in this. Guy deserves a Emmy/Oscar nomination.
He was also used in the Stargate series and was several major characters in SG: Atlantis. He was also a pivotal figure in Hell on Wheels which made that show must must-watch TV for our family.
@@kevinintheusa8984 I never watched the Stargate series. But how ironic he was in that as Kurt Russell was in the movie version. haha.
I'm going to be lost on this series soon if I don't see some legit monster mayhem. So far it's too slow paced for me and the monster action hasn't been enough of a reward to keep watching.
Then prepare for not watching, going by the momentum of this show..there will be no monster mayhem , I doubt we even get a zilla battle without clips from the movie.. they're on a budget lol just wait for the next film if you're expecting cities to be destroyed and monster fatalities...
Many thanks for this fun and awesome video, MT! Perhaps this episode is the story of how Godzilla got his atomic breath.
Great job MT! Thanks for bringing that NR quality to Heavy Spoilers. 👍🏼
Even if this show ties in to the Hollow Earth portals (which it probably does), there is no way Hiroshi could use them to travel because Monarch couldn't find a way to survive the extreme gravity of the portals until Apex loaned them some H.E.A.Vs; trying to travel into the Hollow Earth is even how Nathan Lind's brother died.
I am loving this show so far and it has been a slow and steady build-up so I am really looking forward to the next episode.
The sucking of the heat was such a great visual and conceptually a super power.
Bikini Atoll was the site of the first thermonuclear device, which was the size of the small house in the test.
What they show in the episode is just a 'Little Boy' fission bomb though.
Exactly. Gun trigger fission bomb. Godzilla minus 0 is using this premise too
I don’t regret you saying that sentence... that was hilarious!!! Lmao!
This is amazing, thanks for the breakdown!
Love that Bikini Atoll scene was a call back to the intro of Godzilla (2014) which details the same warhead as depicted here.
christopher heyerdahl we always be a villian for me because of his "Sweed" role in Hell on Wheels.
Mt this was awesome! and that sentence 🤣
MT - so glad to hear your recap on the Heavy Spoilers channel! Keep it real and have a great Thanksgiving holiday!
There was nothing solitary about that confinement😂
I did think it was a bit silly writing to have him cut his tracker off so early without a plan to leave yet.
Rip to Hojung best character in the show so far
Fr
I agree. That pilot was great! A breath of fresh air compared to the main cast trio.
awesome mole!!
I would have thought that there was enough residual radiation that mutos would always be hanging out at Bikini Atoll. The bomb was probably extraneous, but needed for the plot.
“Monarch’s Secret Slammer for Sneaky Seniors” 🤣😂
The new monster looks like a star nose mole
This Godzilla series is pretty 🔥
Great video❤
So good to see @gugafoods branching out to breakdown videos LOL
2:37 in he post credit scene of Kong: Skull Island, we are shown that Monarch has photos of cave paintings on Godzilla and other Titans. The photos appear to be of ‘40s or ‘50s origin. It’s possible that the soldier painting the picture on the bomb(which is fairly crude) is going off those cave paintings.
Not teleporting using the tunnel’s!
To expand on the theme of duality/2's/etc .... the Monarch symbol itself depicts that.
Secret slammer for sneaky seniors is the best phrase ive heard this year and i want you guys to know that
Are we not gonna talk about how Kurt Russell's character pushes 90s?
It was a rental van, they didn't 'steal a car' from Monarch
Oh my Godzilla
I love M.T.'s breakdowns
Thanks so much for watching :)
@@MasterTainment A reply from you is Huge honor for me
Running with the teleportation idea seems alil goofy especially when the way the monsters normally travel so fas is the under ground cave systems that lead to hollow earth. The last 2 movies have kinda cemented that as fact.
So for them to take that, somethin that would make sense in a world with these monsters just to throw teleportation in the mix would be dumb.
If any of them can teleport why didn’t they do it while fighting? We’ve seen Godzilla injured in life or death situations multiple times now, I’m sure if he coulda teleported to get away he definitely would have especially against monster zero
They were fine the entire time, they were there. Why did the idiot pilot need to yell and run? That probably attracted the monster. He could've just told them in the tent that they should get away since it's dangerous. He had it coming.
When Rander suggest “teleportation” I think the hollow earth ?(praying we see it in this series) or Godzilla just swims to different areas and pops up
Yeah, I want to see this but not signing up for another service! Relying on you guys to give me the scoop!
Loving show so far outside of the movie references randomly few things have reminded me of the Godzilla animated series from the 1998 movie
Wunderbar
Love M.Ts breakdowns, he should just do all breakdown videos!!!
No
Please god no....
Not sure why you would think there is a teleportation theory when we already know how they traveled from the newer movies. hollow earth / tunnels
I feel bad for Du-Ho. I was getting to like his character and they killed him off :(
You missed the part when they flew into a storm that disappeared after they landed. I think its the location of monster zero that hasn't been discovered yet.
It looked like the mole Titan could use the glowy parts of it's tendrils to latch on and lower the temperature of whatever they're touching as while it vacuums the heat right out of the plane
Glad I don't have to actually get appleTV in order to learn what happens in this show. Unthinkable...
Watched the 1st two shows. Dang! Didn't think a series about gigantic monsters would be BORING AF! 🤣♥️🇵🇭
I'm guessing daddy gonna show up in some type of secret underground military tunnel. If I'm not mistaken isn't it there where Ghidorah's sleeping. So I'm guessing monach has some type of hidden base there. Can't wait for the next episode, this series is going good so far.
Whas us agent doin lol
It was an excellent episode.
I will see your teleportation, theory, and raise you teleportation is how she survived the fall
They shot this in Vancouver, right? Because they used the same hangar the Arrowverse used for the Hall of Justice scenes
2 weeks for the next episode, thats criminal.
just few minutes screeentime and Du Ho is my bro....
WE NEED TO REVIVE DU HO
I am surprised you guys have not reviewed both Blue Eye Samurai and Pluto(astroboy retold), both on Netflix.
I don't really understand the teleportation theory mentioned. Just seems like he was already in the area, and just couldn't find her in the crowd. Other then than, great breakdown!
Even in the scene if you pay close attention you can see him in background on his phone talking to her.
maybe he teleported from behind her to in front of her. you don't know that. LoL
@@thewayofthebeard3680 damn i didnt think of that lmao
Kong Skull island shows Godzilla and a nuclear blast similar to.what is shown in this episode, a clear callback.
@5:50 Wait.. who came to Trinidad & Tobago on the 2/10/2013??
Also also.. there was a strange light Kentaro points out before the plane landed.
Sup with that?
Dude, Hitoshi didn’t teleport. He was with Monarch, and knew what was napping in San Fran. He went to find his daughter, and the logical place to look would be one of the medical camps. Not that tough to figure out.
Show is not bad so far and Kurt Russell has seemed to upped the pace and adventure. It still has normal prequel problems and pacing could be quicker, but it could turn out decent
Wonder if that thing helped freeze ghidorah back in the day with godzilla?
they did saw a blinky light and pointed it out the window just before they landed. bet its the dad or monarch coming to save the day
Why couldn't Kate's father who works for Monarch simply be in San Franscisco investigating the aftermath of Godzilla?
if you like christopher heyerdahl i encourage you to watch the western series hell on wheels. he plays the bad guy "the swede" thor gundersen and he is one of the best villains ever
That red cross is being added cause Godzilla use to be a protect.. cause his spikes or fins are over the red circl
That thing looks like a straight up tie in to pacific rim, no lie that can't be a toho IP..that monster design has del toro written all over it..could it be true a crossover coming?
The dad didn’t teleport… have you ever been meeting a person at an event and you ask, “where are you”?… or yea I see you at the gate… I’m right by you… I see you.
I'll ask this question here too. Are you all getting this series as full-screen 21:9? For some reason this series displays in zoom out 21:9 in my 5k2k, ultra-wide LG monitor. Reported this to Apple TV Media Support who will have their engineers look into this. If you're also not getting a full screen, 21:9 delivery of this series in your 4k capable screen then please also report it to them.
Teleportation? No. They've found the tunnels for hollow Earth. That's how the father (and the monsters) get around so quickly.
5:35 it's not 12:30 pm it's actually 6:04
So both new G movie and show is using the atom bomb test for pre nuke- to nuke Godzilla
I know is a totally over the top fantasy with hugh monster that spit radiation from their mouths. I know that, but still bother me the monster that generates cold. Like is phisicaly impossible, you can take heat from something (that's how a fridge works) but the cold doesn't exist, is just lack of heat.
Hahaha, don't know why bother me so much though.
Is MT taking over the channel.. ik Paul is busy but I feel like every video the last few days has been MT.
Always great to see you on the channel, MT. But, dude! Tunnels to/through a hollow Earth are not the same as teleportation! And you almost sounded tentative on the idea that this series takes place in the same universe as the other Monsterverse films. ?? Anyway, have some turkey, relax, and have a Happy Thanksgiving’ 🦃
Also why did the pilot jump into the plane after realizing how the first one got destroyed? We all knew he was done for when the monster showed up. Ironically enough He was better off on foot lmao
The dad or another titan or both will come to save the day
They’ll live by being saved my some mysterious figure on the horizon and when they get closer it will be revealed to be the dad
Did they not explain the tunnel thing with Godzilla in the 2nd Godzilla movie? I thought the scientists figured it out and explained it..
godzilla got nuked and used instant transmission. that’s why they thought they killed him
Great episode, and loved that Godzilla made an appearence in the 1954 flashback. Except this scene kinda retcons the whole thing from how it was shown in the 2014 film opening. There he never rose up from the water and then roared as the nuke went off.....
Yeah, I loved all those grainy films in the opening sequence, it also included old Randa. I’m not a huge fan of the retconning.
Two videos in one day? Now you're just spoiling us...
Why aren't we discussing Shaw being 90yrs old plus! They really quickly skip over it in this episode and he says it's his good genes?!?! Wtf?!
It is later brought up again by his pilot friend. Also Bill Randa goes from Anders Holm to John Goodman in just 19 years. Something with aging gonna be part of the story.
@ohhhyeah9435 I hope it doesn't get really stupid with teleportation, de-aging etc. Unless it's done really well!
@@ohhhyeah9435In 2014 you also see John Goodman (old version) at this Godzilla nuking. I think there are just some continuity errors.
Lmao there’s no damn teleportation. Did he forget about the tunnels through the earth the kaiju use lol
There are hollow earth tunnels that are fast travel points for monsters
Teleportation seems like a reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaach. I thought it was said in the movies about the caves Godzilla goes through
Love ya MT, but can't tell how sarcastic you're being at lots of points. LOL
I also enjoy his break downs but there are always a few too many of those moments or quips. He's toned it down ALOT since new rockstars but still moments that make me cringe.
Otherwise quite happy he's found a new home
Anyone know why it was released on Tuesday? Isn’t it suppose to air on Friday??
Holidays, maybe? At least in USA
