Lyrics to "Eniwetok": Driving across the sand with a gun against your head, Fermi says it's hopeless if I fill you full of lead, looking in the mirror, it's time to leave New Mexico, my brain is turning black, but I know where we're gonna go.. Eniwetok.. my home. I walk along the beach and the sun is shining bright, about to show the world a new kind of light, the seasons feel mild, it always seems like fall and we're not wearing any Bikini Atoll. Eniwetok.. my home Empty concrete bunkers all over the place, flies are on the wall and there's flies upon my face. As I'm flying level in the old Enola Gay, I'm about to let it drop, I'm gonna save the fuckin day! Eniwetok.. my home (Where do we go?!.. [segue into Disneyland])
lyrics for TOPOLOGICAL LIES: You've got to find the curvy lines That lead you to the new franchise And once you've got inside You can' get out You just circle back up on your fatty little self. The bondage of the atom past We're shrinking towards the limit fast And once we've gone inside We can't get out I just pull you down into oblivion with me. Walk down the path of darkness Where X-rays are the only sign They light the golden arches That demarcate the curvy lines Topological lines I'll have my catchy uniform My heels are high my hose are torn And once I get inside I can't get out I just circle back up on my ratty little self
the funny/sad thing is that Joe Ramirez pumped out song after song with similar lyrical quality. most were never even played live, but we rehearsed them and I can't get them out of my fucking head 40 years later. Hope Joe is doing well somewhere, haven't heard from him since 93... only punk song I know of that's about the event horizon of a black hole
The Eyes did a reunion ten years ago, for the Masque. I still to this day kick myself in the ass for not going. This is one of my favorite bands of all times and his lyrics are amazing much like Chris D. from the Flesh Eaters, Tomata from the Screamers, Darby from the Germs and a few others. Amazing songwriting!
Goddamn I love this song! Used to dj and mix it in my set at around 1 am just when everyone was getting good and loaded. Always killled it! Thanks! Never realized it was about McDonalds!
Actually deeper than that. Think an event inside a black hole with a metaphorical link to consumerism (a la mickey d's) -- John Richey wrote this song w/Joe Ramirez (they were both later in the Flesh Eaters, get the "No questions asked" album. Joe Ramirez plays guitar and John Richey plays bass.. they were a powerhouse together)
Wow...."Underrated" does not quite cover how good this was. Is this the same Eyes from the Bomp Records' "What? Stuff" comp? If so, that's a lot of range, musically speaking.
Yes same band, different members. Charley Caffey of the Go Go's was the original bassist in the Eyes, DJ Bonebrake and her played on the What? records release "Don't talk to me" + b/w "Kill your parents"
I saw this band a couple times. There were not around for long. In the band DJ Bonebrake an amazing drummer in the band X, also Charlotte Caffey from the Go-Go's. They were so-so live.
This album reflects great new wave/ punk classics' persona, but I wouldn't take it's quirkiness too seriously. I'm a fan of both Punk and Metal, and I still think this is a short, but awesome Classic Punk album.
When I said I wanted Rock n Roll music, I still say this passed the test. I don't give a fuck what anyone thinks! Just booze it up already to this tune!
What I meant was great sound, but fuck no, I will never eat nobody's butthole bars. One song on this album mentions this person wanting to do that. I guess even a sicko at times can have musical talent, but I ain't no sicko and never will be!
Best thing about qualudes was they were easier to get at Marina Highskool than beer, so u take one find a Mickey Big mouth and go the Cukoos Nest,,got put in the HB drunk tank once ,but slept great and they gave me a great breakfast, wonder if Hole and John May Butfuck are still alive?
they were both in the Eyes first. They both left the Eyes to go on to those bands, unfortunately. Joe Ramirez went on to play in the Flesh Eaters. Get their "No questions asked" album. I believe a listen is here on youtube if you wanna check it out. The Legendary Chris Desjardins sings with Joe Ramirez on Guitar and John Richey on bass (co-author of most of these songs)
I found a original post f this some years back for 5 bucks..a nice find..there isn't a dud record in the entire dangerhouse catalog.... even the Howard werth one is decent..but without a few slabs of these dangerous killers snuggled up in your collection...your nothing! further eyes tracks were released by what? records back in the day with Charlotte singing.. now those sessions need to be released in there entirety. artifix did a bang up job with this..why not make lightning strike twice?
great post. the eyes rule, wish they would have made more. the organ made them a bit more original. could someone please explain the cover photo? is that charlotte caffey? looks like a boring 70s school photo used for such a modern punk-wave band.
She worked in a camera store in Larchmont Village with Joe Ramirez' friend John Jennik who took the picture. I thought it was perfect because of the horrified expression on her face... truly a smart young lass, she'd be um in her early 50s now? Hope she's doing great wherever she is
ps. if you [or anyone, really] couldve told me then that THIS was how far, & in which way, we were gonna devolve i would NOT have believed you. some days i dont even have words.
is it jus me or is record is like nothing else??? man I dig that chaotic organ, it's gameshow punk.
i'm stealing "gameshow punk"
That was the beauty of the early days of punk. There were no rules that said what or how it ought to be.
It's quite unique, yes. The organ is honestly probably one of the best things about the record. It definitely makes it it's own.
That is David Brown, long may he live!
David Brown
Sounds like updated 60s garage punk to me! Love it!😻😻😻

One of the greatest records ever!!! THE EYES
Thanks for this. One of the most underrated bands of the era.
Ohhhhh eniwetokkkkk is my hoooooooome...
That harmony they hit gives me chills.
The Eyes were for sure the highlight of the Masque 30th anniversary show @ Echoplex in '07
Disneyland is one of the greatest songs ever!!!!
Agreed
Agreed!! And The Eyes are one of the greatest "unknown" punk bands ever. IMHO

A punk song with the word "Demarcate" in it - that alone is worth a million bucks.

Thanx4 tha lyrics, FM!
David Brown? Joe is on Facebook. Add me i'm Earl E. Smith (Las Vegas) on there. I'll suggest his fb page to you as a friend suggestion. Cheers!
These guys would be fun on a bill with the Dickies!!! Obviously a big influence on them.
They knew each other well - Charlotte dated Leonard at the time. etc
They were live together on that Live From The Masque double CD.I bought it ages ago. Also Germs,F-Word,Weirdos,Black Randy,Bags,Screamers,et al.
one of my favorite finds ever (gotta listen to more 7"s great solo
The most punk rock record ever
Take a Qualude Now.
GREAT TREAT TO HEAR THIS AND SEE THE ORIGINAL RECORD AND SLEEVE!

one of the best EPs :)
Old school is the best I was there in the 70s

I love This Years Girl!
thanks for posting, cheers!!!!

DJ was in a band called Rocktopus before this - with 2 drummers!
But don't get too excited, Charlotte Caffey fans... she wasn't in the band when they recorded this EP.
thank you for this small cute jewel. I was looking for it since so long
Thank you for posting this!

I dabbled in ludes in 1971. I danced from one end of pacific coast Highway to the other by night at the request of two service station staff endpoints
love this record!
Amazing. Real punk right here.
I recomend italian 80s band THE RIDE, i had their EP back then, They sound is also based on keybord punk rock
Sounds good! Lot's of great, underrated punk from Italy since the 70's. Thanks.
Can’t find The Ride on RUclips. Link?
I tried to find it too, no suxess

So good
me mola esto.
Two aa's in Quaalude....I think it was pronounced qwah-lood, technically, but we just called them Ludes or Rorer 714s!! Best drug ever!
great post. the eyes rule, wish they would have made more. the organ made them a bit more original. could someone please explain the cover photo? is that charlotte caffey? looks like a boring 70s school photo used for such a modern punk-wave band.
It does look like Charlotte. I thought the same thing.
She has blue eyes, I believe. Many people believe the cover model is her, it isn't. I will find the cover model's name and post it here :D
Kendall Behnke Lianne Klapper
She worked in a camera store in Larchmont Village with Joe Ramirez' friend John Jennik who took the picture. I thought it was perfect because of the horrified expression on her face... truly a smart young lass, she'd be um in her early 50s now? Hope she's doing great wherever she is
Apparently her name is Lianne klapper
Reminds me of the Monks
Who's the person on the cover?
Sounds kinda like The Stranglers, with the organ.
soundtrack to the bill cosby scandal.
i remember it, i remember you, i am so so tired now.
ps. if you [or anyone, really] couldve told me then that THIS was how far, & in which way, we were gonna devolve i would NOT have believed you. some days i dont even have words.
verbaledge that is a song title
This is genius, unlike your attention seeking diatribe of course centered around yourself
AMazing
BRAVO
What I would/wouldn't give for a 714.
Is that Charlotte Caffey (Go-Go's) on the cover?
It looks like Charlotte but it's actually not. Her name is Lianne Klapper.
No
@@scottsmanship Cheers for clarifying:)
Charlotte was out of the band when they did this record.
jimmy (james)
leach where the hell are ya contact me!
It’s like 60’s pop-rock but punk
David Brown played every single instrument on this recording.
a good lie beats the truth everytime adam. you are the richest book publisher in hollywood
Joe Ramirez and others would certainly disagree ha ha ha
@@dbrown2746 do you know the lyrics to "Research Bee"? Could you please post them here?

THE EYES HAVE IT.
All I have to say is..... fucking classic!
fucking great

Huge Dickies sound here - I wonder if they were aware of each other??? Great stuff!!
Played a ton of shows together back in the day. Both great bands!
@@joeh952 Wow, excellent, thanks for the info!!!
Very reminiscent of The Dickies.
Way deeper than the Dickies
Oh, I've just made 666th thumb up :))
