Probably the best review of the Kona Electric I've watched so far, (and by heck I've watched a few). I get my Kona Electric Premium 64kwh in Dark Knight this November on the Motability Scheme. This is my first EV, the fantastic range decided it for me. I'm really looking forward to this car, thanks for the brilliant review.
@@laxlax9960 I ordered it 10th August, it arrived at my dealer a week ago but I've had to wait till 5th November to collect as that's when my contract with Motability ends.
@@Hankercheif absolutely brilliant, I've done 1800 miles so far, my longest journey was home to the NEC a trip over 200 miles on one charge. I'm not the most economical driver but I'm more than happy with the range, I'm getting roughly 240 miles using the heater/aircon. I can see her easily doing 290 on the Summer. My previous car was a Leon 2.0ltr petrol FR with the DSG gearbox, I used to spend £58 per week on petrol.
You are really on a class's of your own. Such a quality review. It's like you own the car. I watched like 50 plus videos and they all look Soo commercially made. YOU make top REVIEWS.
Great video, thank you. We have just ordered ours, Kona Ultimate EV in Pulse Red. Cannot wait to get it. One concern, it s a new driving concept, but I’m sure we shall get used to it. Saving us £110 per month on fuel, because of the range and mile we do. 👍👍👍😊😊😊
@@WhichEV Yeah, we test drove the Demo they had for a full day. Very impressed with it. We are just sorting home charger out. Down side 12 week wait for delivery. 👍
It depends if you can find local charging. If there are street chargers then that's the best, but you'd want them within walking distance so you can pop your car on one overnight every week or so.
"Let's take these suckers out!" I always enjoy your idiosyncratic sense of humour and the running gag about what kids are reading. To what extent do electric vehicles encourage drivers to imagine they are playing video games?
Thanks! :) I don't think most electric cars make people imagine they are playing video games, except Teslas, where you literally can be! But only when stationary, obviously...
We were really stuck between this and the Id3. But ended up going with this due to it being in stock along with the raided ride height, longer range and obviously better looking. The id3 cabin is a Mayor mayor let down.
@@laxlax9960 VW has gone for minimalism but this car just has a Hyundai interior, which is maybe more function than style but briliantly designed nonetheless.
@@WhichEV the standard Hyundai interior looked dull to be honest mate. I love how the Electric Kona adds the bridge centre in the interior so lot more premium looking. But yeah other than that it's business as usual style. None of this weird minimalist design that we apparently like. WE DO NOT!!!!!
Reviewer mentioned this model has 10.5kW on board AC charger which charges 0 -100% in 7.5 hours. If i use this with my podpoint 7kW home charger will charging 0-100 still take 9 hours 50mins as stated? As i read elsewhere using 11kW on board AC charger on home phase 1 connection (7kW ) on some car models can cause the charging rate to be halved to 3.6kW
@@emylo9099 The driver had been overtaking. Look at the next shot. He's in the left lane again. It's called editing. We didn't use the earlier section where he pulled out. 🙄

Excellent, informative review. Refreshing to have a reviewer who has clearly done his research. No cheap clichés or error-strewn waffle. Kudos!
Thanks John!

Is it worth it to buy EV as i live will not have the charging facility at home?

Have to say I really like the look of the new Kona, would be a tough choice between that and the ID3
The Premium 64K is a great balance of features for the money. Perfect if you have a couple of young kids.
