- I reached out to Sainsmart about a benchtop CNC machine that I could use to help introduce people to using a CNC in the workshop. They surprised me by sending out a beast of a benchtop CNC with the PROVerXL 6050 Plus machine! This thing is built like a tank and its weight shows it coming in around 120 lbs! The large Nema23 stepper motors, lead screws and linear rails keep it moving smoothly and precisely.
I'll cover the general specs and then test it out for some common uses of a small workshop CNC. Stay tuned; I can't wait to do more projects with this one!

Great review. You answered all my questions about it. A few things I like about it are the size and it seems easy to assemble compared to other brands.
Glad it was helpful!
@@Vintauri I just want to confirm, you mentioned that the overall depth is 37 inches, but on the website it says it's around 25 inches. Did you mean to say 27 inches? I am thinking of using my old desk, and if I don't have to make a new one that would be great.
@@JC-ig4xy the 37 inches takes into account the stepper motors and the cable chain that stick out further than the base of the CNC. Where the feet sit is smaller but you'll need to make sure there are no obstructions like walls or other tools that will get in the way of these items as well.
Looking forward to your next 6050 plus videos, especially if you happen to put a 65mm spindle;)
I have a couple things in the works to do soon. I will be upgrading to at least a router soon but if I find a good setup, a spindle would be the real ticket!
@@Vintauri interested in which spindle you choose if you do.
Cool machine wish i had a place for one ive always loved working with wood just never had the chance till i got my diode now you and clack keep showing me all these new cool gadgets lol
I love what you can do with a CNC router. It really opens up the possibilities when paired with a laser.
@Vintauri Yeah, maybe one day I'll have a full fleged shop and can get me one
Thanks for the breakdown. What size workbench/table is the machine sitting on? The specs and tech support say 39"x30" but your space doesn't look that large?!?
The shop cabinets that I have it sitting on are 30" and about 40" wide. That is about the minimum area it will fit on front to back and the cable chain will overhang the edges when it is fully extended.
many thanks, guess i have a new table project coming up....@@Vintauri
Nice Video!
I too have lasers and use Lightburn
I like using my ruida controller.
Ready to but a cnc. Most DO NOT come with an offline controller likr ruida.
So I looked up CNCTOBOAS an was directed to Genmitsu. Alas they do not show a separate controller.
WHY?
Question 2
I see in your video you have a monitor above the cnc.
How do you use it?
This is COOL
Advise your viewers.
There is a port to connect an offline controller to the 6050 but I have not seen them release one yet. I've not looked too hard though as I have a small form PC hooked up to the controller that is also running the monitor you see in the video. I then use a wireless keyboard and touch pad combo unit to control that all.
Is VCARVE PRO software compatible with the machine?
Yes I used Vcarve Pro to set up the files for the review. You just need to add the GRBL post processor and then export in your metric or imperial units they your machine is using.
@@Vintauri thank you, more questions; What is the maximum depth you have to cut in a single layer? and 2000 mm/min is the maximum speed at which it advances in cutting?
The Genmitsu 6050 is a good machine but unlike the 4040 it doesn’t have closed loop stepper motors and upgrading to closed loop is not an option. The 4040 doesn’t have linear rails on the other hand. It would be useful to know better how they compare. Notably whether the closed loop motors are more or less important than linear rails in terms of end product and usability.
Which is better PROVerXL 6050 Plus or longmill please?
I don't have any direct experience with the Longmill but it does offer a few more options in sizes which may meet your needs more. Both are very sturdy machines with similar capabilities when assembled correctly. The 6050 is a bit more self contained where as the Longmill you need to build up a sturdy base to mount it to. The longmill looks to have a more compact controller but it uses the V wheels instead of linear rails. I think either one would be a good small workshop CNC to work with.
@@Vintauri thanks getting 6050
@@Chris-vc1dh Great! I hope you enjoy it! It's a stout machine and the shipping box is heavy so plan your build space accordingly!
@@Vintauri is the software pain to understand?
