The average person really doesn't get how great he is. He is a master songwriter. His raw and edgy delivery and kentucky accent make his music brilliant. I got to meet him and hang out with him and Birmingham Alabama at Workplay theater. He's just a real guy loaded with Talent. I told him he was the reason I started songwriting and pursue my career in music. He was very humbled. He wished me the best and that meant a lot.
Phillip David Harris country singer/songwriter. If you like Chris Knight chances are I would like your music. Send me a link if possible. Interesting. Really great for me to hear of your experience with Chris Knight. He is my favorite singer/songwriter of all time. Unfortunately, chances are I’ll never see him live since I live in Napa, Ca. If you have any ideas let me know.
I hired Chris Knight with Chris Clark accompanying to play a benefit in my living room in Downtown Boston about 4 years ago. I've seen 100 plus live shows a year for decades and he is something very very special. His songwriting ranges from chillingly tragic to almost surreal love songs to both his home in Kentucky and loves from his past and imagination. They were both awesome guys, hung out eating and drinking beers after. It will always be one my most cherished musical experiences.
Chris Knight is one of the best songwriters of our time....... how he is not a household name is not only puzzling but a shame to all that have not heard him..... I have seen him several times (5 to be exact) and was even able to meet him a few weeks ago! He is an amazing singer, I only wish I had heard of him sooner. I request his music on our local radio channel every Saturday, just hoping to turn more people onto his music! He is definitely the most talented, underrated, unknown musician I have ever heard....... People are truly missing out, by not listening to his music!!!!
Huge fans of Chris for years , but being from Alberta we came to the conclusion, if we were ever going to see him live we were gonna have to go to him , so we hopped a flight and saw him twice ,both acoustic shows , once in Dickson and once in New Tazwell Tennessee . Well worth it ,would do it again in a heartbeat (and are planning future trip)....If you are a fan, you owe it to your self to see this man perform at least once in your life .
I've known of Chris knight for a while, but the last few weeks he has really resonated with me; and here I am on a Friday night half cut after introducing his music to two other people watching this !
Thank you soooo much for sharing this video. As an Australian I have no chance of seeing Chris live and there's not really much live content on RUclips really. So muchos gracias mate.
I saw him play in Austin a long time ago with whiskey Myers at a really tiny bar best show ever! He signed my Chris Knight shirt I bought. My favorite artist by far!
David Grissom from Louisville, KY originally. He played with Joe Ely in the mid to late 80s on a couple of albums. Ely was a must see act when Grissom was in the band. Fans of David Grissom should also check out the following albums which feature his guitar playing: 1987: Joe Ely "Lord of the Highway" 1988: Joe Ely "Dig All Night" 1989: James McMurtry "Too Long in the Wastelands" 1990: Joe Ely "Live at Liberty Lunch" 1991: John Mellencamp "Whenever we wanted" 1992: James McMurtry "Candyland" 1993: Joe Ely "Love and Danger"
As of this summer I know Chris is still playing four of the eight songs on this video - Becky's Bible, The Lord's Highway, It Ain't Easy Being Me and A Train Not Running.
This is probably 2003. I am basing this on the fact that Chris says the song A Train Not Running is from the new album (The Jealous Kind) coming out that year.
That telecaster of Grissoms' looks like it might have a little story telling of it's own it could do. I think it was you who traded me a copy of this about 10 years ago. I think I've watched it at least 20 times. Glad to see you uploaded it.
@@bbentley1964 Sounds like a good time, but no. I've recorded a bunch of Chris' shows. I use to mail them out to whoever asked at no cost. I think ours was a mail trade. You were the only one to ever offer a show in return
@@bbentley1964 Thank you, too. Jason Knight, Chris' manager has the colossal collection. He said he collected them for historical purposes. He also said he was up for trades. Anyway, nice show and thanks for sharing it with all of us.
The one thumbs down vote must be Wilson’s cousin

That guitarist he had back then was great! I forgot his name, but I really liked his playing.

Pretty sure he was with him a couple years ago when Chris opened for John Anderson. Hard to tell for sure. We are all older now lol
Ty Avolio (aka Ty Tyler) is the lead guitar player in this video.
one of my very favorite artists.
I don't live far from Chris. Have seen him several times. Always a good time.
I grew up near where Chris is from. He reminds me of so many people I know.

Take care of yourself out on that road my friend.
Anyone know when this was recorded? He is awesome - without RUclips I wouldn't ever have seen this.
