    🟢 CHRIS KNIGHT
Chris Knight is an American singer-songwriter from Slaughters, Kentucky. In addition to releasing solo records of his own material, Knight has had a successful career writing songs that have been recorded by Confederate Railroad, John Anderson, and Randy Travis among others.
in 1986, he heard Steve Earle on the radio and decided to start writing songs. After six years he came to Nashville and won a spot on a songwriters' night at the Bluebird Cafe
He attracted the interest of music producer Frank Liddell, who signed him to a contract with Bluewater Music. When Decca Records hired Liddell for an A&R position, Knight received a contract and in 1998 Decca released his self-titled debut. Knight still lived in a 10'-x-15' trailer on 90 acres in Slaughters when the album was released.
Decca folded at the end of the 1990s, only two years after Knight joined the label. After a couple years without a label, Knight signed with Dualtone Music Group. Knight licensed his music to Dualtone Records for two records, then decided to release his music independently with the help of his manager.

Most of y’all prolly won’t get this, but Chris is the Lemmy of country music.

He's a bit more sensible than Lemme - but hey that's why Lemme was Lemme - He sure as hell never backed up -
      RIP Lemme
Edit - I like Jack - he's cool - here's the rub - let these folks answer the question - they are interesting and like the format

First Chris Knight song I learned was “It ain’t easy being me.” Finally saw him for the 1st time on my b-day last December at Eddie’s Attic. I thanked him for being such an influence and shook his hand. Meant a whole lot to me. Also…. complete b.s. he’s never been asked to A.C.L., their loss. I love the way he cares about his songs and and how humble he is cause “it aint easy has 8 chords, 9 if you wanna be technical with a regular C and that Csus2 or add9. Hell, when I was younger even my punk friends loved Chris Knight. Real is real and us fans that do appreciate it….rlly appreciate it.

I’m disappointed I’m 2 years late to this podcast, but Chris Knight really is like the Quentin Tarantino of country music because a lot of it has some pretty dark and somber tones but in the best way possible

Chris comes off as rural and roughand it's not an act, but if you have even paid a little bit of attention to his songs he is way intellgent and deep, and his writing is on par with any of the great songwriters.

I live in a rural area but - I was born in the country - there is a difference - This guy is from the country - We may not be as articulate as the next fella in line at the local feed store but i can pick a decent guitar - Chris is funny too - his humor is the desert on top of a great country dinner before heading out to the quarry or off to ride a horse or 3

He is a great great songwriter. His voice is rough and uncut, not the best voice around, but very effective for the lyrics it projects. He is pure t. Kentucky, and you can not duplicate that.
