You won't find another fool like me for the 1970s. Great songs. Great singers. Great clothes. People enjoying themselves, singing live. Halcyon days. Never to be repeated.
I just keep coming back to this video and Watch and listen to Lyn Paul’s amazing crystal clear and beautiful voice, truly amazing talent. Lyn Paul looks and sounds fabulous. Still listening in 2021......and 2022, 2023, 2024, and forever .❤👍.
Yes Lynn is a great performer, I really wish she had had a big solo hit after the New Seekers broke up...she should have but its not always easy...some great singers didnt get the songs to put them high in the charts. Really this song is all Lynn. Where did Eve go in this one?
Lyn Paul ‘s voice is just beautiful, amazing talent. The voice and face of an angel. We just don’t hear anything like this today in the music charts, 2020.
Paul, I couldn't agree more, she's got a fantastic, unique voice, and still looking gorgeous 40 odd years later, she should have had loads of solo albums, it's a shame an established record label didn't invest in her, the voice is amazing.
Loved this song - thanks for posting! What a voice, I have a cd somewhere with this song but I never saw them perform it. I didn't know that they were down to four, I just thought Eve was singing back up!
thats cos of the strikes and 3 day week, and the electrical strikes in the day, the beeb only had black and white recordings for some tv stuff! great days for kids tho!
I was one of the lucky ones went to see the New Seekers about 6 /7 times in the 70s such good times when music was sung from the heart and the words meant so much lovely memories Xx
takes me back, the seekers had the potential and appeal to have been huge. as it was they were probably the best harmony group Ive seen, i was aware of the infighting such a pity because i feel cheated that we were denied much more of this wonderful group, lyne pauls voice was amazing..
The New Seekers were huge! They sold music all over the world. 35 million records sold. There was no infighting, they disbanded in 1974 Lyn Paul went solo as Peter Doyle had done earlier. The group got back together in 1976 without Lyn and by this time Peter Oliver was doing other things. They had three further top 30 hits and then Eve Graham left with Danny Finn, whom she later married. The glory days were over, but the good news is that a boxed set of albums is due for release in February 2019. (There is still to this day a version of New Seekers performing with Paul Layton but they have no charisma, and sound nothing like the hit making New Seekers who taught the World to sing. The New Seekers were the best UK vocal harmony group of the 1970`s.
when you find out let me know..it seems that we've used them all up only pockets of talent now compared to the tidal wave of talent in the 60's & 70's..
Heard this on Boom the other day. Hooked on it and put on repeat! Nice you can hear Lyn’s Scots accent as she sings. I love the power she puts in on “like before.”
Too bad they don't make music like this anymore. I was out of love when this song first came out and I loved it. Lyn was great. I miss her solo song "Love" and I can never find it!
Still a great song as there many other songs and I grew up on the seekers and the new seekers. After many years from when we first did hear them way om back and I was born in 1962.so from 1972,when I was age just ten I from then got to know and Love the brilliant great many songs of the seekers and the new seekers. It's now year 2018 and they are still great to listen to and take me back there. There songs have special memories. There music is music we can Listen to and understand. They put a lot of Love into there songs as we do who buy them. Children of today who are into head thumping boom base very loud music blasting same as there parents and rap or is that CRAP would ask who are the seekers and new seekers. We would then say they are real tru talent singers who do know how to sing proper. They put heart and soul in. That's music to listen to we can understand. How many car drivers blast music from inside there cars even with a baby and child in the car. No consentration on road safety putting many other drivers life's in danger even children's. How many blast music from inside there homes or shops who just don't care. Just how much louder do they want it to go. The ears can only take so much. Even those with head phones in and the music is blasting out. And those who scream shout curse with such hate rage and anger on stage like a demon why.
Thomas McGready One thing is for sure, the so-called music of today will never become classics in the future. I was born in Fed 1960, and truly feel privileged to have grown up listening to some of the most beautifully talented artist in the 1960s 70s and 80s, especially the 60s and 70s. Lynn Paul had a wonderful simply beautiful voice. I feel a little sad for the generation of today, because I cannot see them looking back in 30, 40, 50 or 60 years and remembering the good times, after all music plays a big role in creating memories, wouldn’t you and lots of friends agree.
Many thanks for posting! This is a truly lovely performance from Lyn (quite raunchy in the last verse). Both Lyn & Eve were (and are) great performers. It's a shame if this is all that survives from this edition of TOTP. It was shot in colour (an EMI2001 camera appears briefly in shot). The clip is probably from a 'Shibaden. It was half inch reel to reel videotape in a machine the size of a large suitcase (black & white). 1974 was four years before the early VHS. machines.
Amazing! The early 1970s - and yet she's wearing an incredibly contemporary, sexy dress! Look just at her and it could have easily been filmed yesterday. As for the song - if only I could give TWO sets of five stars!
Good old fashioned music great song's ,song's of those times were listenable and understood, maybe because I'm on old fashioned sentimental girl,😘🌹👍✌👌💖💏
One of my favourite 70's pop songs but it was never released as a single in Japan! Even though "I'd Like To The World To Sing" became the ORICON #1 hit, The New Seekers were so underrated and forgotten・・・
Never really been a new seekers fan. Yet this song still remains one of my favourites of all time. I don’t compare eve and Lynn they are both beautiful women and both have a great voice. They sing well together and seem to be a clean cut group. Middle of the road and sally carr NOW that’s a different story those legs of Sally could have sold a million records alone. Another handsome band. For someone who was 21 in 1971 you would think that I would not be interested in that kind of music. I could take it or leave it plenty of talent about then. Never been a ABBA fan my late wife was. So I had no choice but to listen to them now I have about 70+ videos of them and really love to listen and watch them regularly especially the Gorgeous Frida we must mellow as we get older. ONE I have not mentioned is the stunningly beautiful MARISKA VERES simply loved her from day one very much underrated singer who could put most singers in the past in the shadows. MARISKA and shocking blue were never given the regonishion they deserved outside of their own country. One particular song from 1974 if it was an entry for the Eurovision it would definitely had wiped the board. And maybe ABBA would never have been heard of. And MARISKA and shocking blue would have been as big as ABBA themselves. Any true MARISKA fan will know which song I have in mind ♥️
the final performance the new seekers gave was at a cabaret club in liverpool called the shakespeare. they were due to play the whole week there but did not show for the last two nights, a band called blue mink appeared instead. this is a fact 'cos i was there!.i saw them perform for two shows, and waited at the stage door on the other nights, (till 3am) for them to come out. peter oliver had replaced peter doyle at this time, he and lyn paul were an item then.
Lyn has a brilliant voice - I saw her a few years ago playing Mrs Johnstone in Willy Russell's Blood Brothers at Theatre Royal, Nottingham and she was amazing. I loved the New Seekers when I was about 9 or 10 but sadly, I lost interest in them once Peter Doyle left the band! RIP Peter 💜 you were so talented but so let down by the people in the music world who promised you a solo career!
A very underrated group. They sang great songs esp this one
You won't find another fool like me for the 1970s. Great songs. Great singers. Great clothes. People enjoying themselves, singing live. Halcyon days. Never to be repeated.
You are so right.
And we didnt realise it at the time.

@@desmondhull5778 I just wish I had appreciated those times more.
You won't find another fool" and this finaly "Lyn gets to do her thing" I just love it - then and now!!!
The New Seekers' last top 5 hit before they split. It's such a lovely song and Lyn Paul sings the hell out of it.

Absolutely love Lyn...same magic, same feelings. Takes me back to magical days.
What a fantastic voice Lyn Paul has
Yes Lynn is a great performer, I really wish she had had a big solo hit after the New Seekers broke up...she should have but its not always easy...some great singers didnt get the songs to put them high in the charts. Really this song is all Lynn. Where did Eve go in this one?

Lovely song!!!!! thank you for the upload
Lyn's all over this, she's a fantastic singer and still going today. Her voice holds you and watching them you forget they are in black and white.
You are so right and `Lyn`s all over this` describes the performance perfectly! Great days.
thats cos of the strikes and 3 day week, and the electrical strikes in the day, the beeb only had black and white recordings for some tv stuff! great days for kids tho!
Great song! Could (and do) listen to it over and over and over........

Real instruments and good voices, why can't they make this kind of music anymore ?
They can..
because today it's about looks whereas then you also needed talent.
