I also went Hesalite, more Traditional, brushed links are more tool watch campatible. . Lots of display back watches these days… even my $169 Seagull. The extra thickness is the higher dome of the hesalite. The applied logo is hidden behind the second hand.
Am going for the Hesalite version it's the real deal going add this baby with my Rolex Submariner owning both is a killer combo both are iconic ,classic, timeless, history. Legendary watches.
I'm so torn, on one hand I like the brushed bracelet and the "idea" of the Hesalite for originality sake, but the practicality and longevity of the sapphire is appealing, plus I really like the applied logo and the tiny bit of polishing doesn't bother me on this bracelet, and especially appealing is the opportunity to see the movement. That being said, I'm typically a strong advocate for a solid case back (I like Rolex for this, and I have the original Planet Ocean with a solid case back), it's just that this chronograph movement would be the exception for me (as well as Lange, of course). I think I will have to see both in person, but I'm 90% certain it will boil down to the Hesalite version being quite a bit less expensive. I'd be happy with either one.
@Greattitan 79 Got he Hesalite. At the time (January) all 3861 Speedmasters were scarce, and they called me in when the got the first Hesalite. I took one quick look and couldn't resist. I don't regret it.
@@joeschlicht agreed! It looks better . Besides there are .1mm thin screen protectors now that are invisible to the naked eye and doesn't affect opacity at all. Self healing film. U need a loupe to see the edges! Best regards
I have a ton of watches (its an addiction! :)) And of course all of them are sapphire except for the Speedy. While Sapphire is of course immensely more scratch resistant, I got a small scratch on my JLC and DSSD sapphire crystals. Trying to buff it out with diamond paste is an awful experience, and doesn’t work well. A little poly watch on the hesalite and you’re good to go!
Still need to spend more time with the Sapphire but I did hear the ring is not too bad and some might not notice it. If you like it then that's the version you should go for!

When the Speedy came out I decided that I really want to pick one up and since no one else seems to be making videos on it, I wanted to release some content. I'm still waiting on all of the major watch publications to release content on this watch. They have the watches or at least have some review copies. I'm really glad Omega made the change and I was excited enough to make a few videos about it. I'll keep the content up if something grabs my attention. Thanks for watching!
Hesalite is best. And if you're really worried about scratches there are tons of super super thin 0.1mm self healing TPU films on the market, that's invisible to the naked eye. You will need a loupe to see the edges. Doesn't affect the opacity at all!🙂 Regards!
I would have thought the bracelets are exchangeable? Presumably the difference in case thickness is only due a thicker caseback on the hesalite (surprising, as exhibition casebacks tend to make watches thicker) or thicker hesalite crystal and doesn't affect the profile of the case between the lugs. The reason I ask is because I prefer the tool-aesthetic of the brushed bracelet.
You don't have to brush anything in the sapphire sandwich. You can just flip the bracelet around and waaalaaaa. I'm getting the sapphire version. They are both qualified by the way.
This comment seems weird (to me anyway) why buy an over 6k luxury sport watch on a tight budget? If your spending that kind money.. why would you settle? I know for me I picked hesalite and had nothing to do with budget as I was already stretching and everything to do with dial appearance and the magical distortion that the hesalite gives. YMMV and all that..
As nice as the improvement is on the new bracelet, that 1479ish design is still not as good looking as their 1450 bracelet. They should’ve just redesigned the bracelet to look like their original 1450 but with a better, more modern clasp. IMO, the Speedy Pro looks best on a 1450.

Was in the same dilemma so, bought both! If I had to keep only one then hesalite will win as to my mind it evokes more emotion.
Got to go hesalite on the speedy. That grey ring around the edge of the sapphire crystal can't be unseen
Not that big of a deal. Scratches all over the place right after you polish it gets annoying

Am I the only one that sees the grey ring on the sapphire crystal looks like moonlight? I like it. It adds to the Moonwatch allure.

If you ever owned an acrylic crystal watch and wanted to take a macro shot you'll pick the saphire or spend a half an hour with Polywatch...

The only reason why you would get the hesalite is if you're on a tight budget. Otherwise it's sapphire sandwich all the way...

How can a saphire crystal shatter in space with zero gravity?
No one is going to the MOON nor using the speedmaster as a tool watch .. So the clear winner is the sapphire sandwich speedy .
What if you want to go on a Blue Origin flight? Hesalite might come in handy then.
Sapphire would have been worth the extra 800 bucks imo...
15mm is just too small on the clasp.
