  • This turned out to be a fun conversion for guitar use. I had actually made a previous video showing the amp and the circuit and what I had done to it that video got messed up so here's the sound demo for it. if you have any comments or questions leave them for me and I will try to answer them to best of my ability. Thanks for watching.

Oh thank you. This circuit has room for so many changes and I was thinking a 6sl7 might be a good swap for one of the preamp tubes...maybe.

It seems to have that Ampeg-like "almost hi-fi but much warmer" vibe

Yes I can definitely get that vibe from it as well, thanks for the input.

Always fun listening to what you can do with these old gems!.
I'm waiting for a Stromberg Carlson AU-58b coming across the pond, super clean with no more done to it.
I wanted to ask if it's possible just to convert the mics to quarter inch and install a speaker jack then not touch the circuit (assuming all's well)?.
Nice old Selmer TnB in the back there I see, great amps!.
    Thanks Brother.

Actually some of these amplifiers do actually perform and sound pretty good with just a speaker connection and like you said turning the microphone input into a guitar input. Thank you so much for the comments, really enjoyed it. Take care

Actually getting ready to get a AU-42 up and running. Should be pretty soon and I'll be posting a video.
