    My five biggest mistakes.
    1. Miss the triple 20
    2. Miss the triple 20
    3. Miss the triple 20
    4. Miss the triple 17
    5. Miss the double.
Walking to soon to quick can result in a bounce out to the groin

I will partially disagree with the 19's advice. I've had many times where I have struggled on the 20, switched to the 19 for a turn or 2, get a little confidence back, then be able to hit the 20 again. Sometimes you need to change your target, just to get the flow back (and some confidence). The other tips, bang on!

I always switch to 19's when the 20 isn't going so well. It's nothing mental for me personally. It's just a way to get some good recovery shots. You don't want to know the amount of times I've scored 82 or 78 after a 5 or a 1. Then the next throw I just start at the 20 again. And when the 19's are also not working for me I tend to switch to the 18's since this is easier for switching back.

I am you newest subscriber as of May 16th, 2020 at 11:46 PM EST.
The T19 gives you more room for error in your release. Triple 20 is such a precise shot that, I shoot at T19's most of the time when I play 501.
One exercise I use to top up my triple twenties is to shoot one hundred triple 20's everyday until my consistency outpaces my scoring on the 19s.

The Biggest mistake wasn't even mentioned.. But before I even talk about that.. I disagree with switching from 20 to 19 if you are having issues.. If the 19's are working you can always stay there. The Biggest problem most dart players have and I have not see this anywhere.. Is moving your Elbow while throwing darts.. if your elbow move to the either side or up or down will change where your dart will land on the board.. if you can keep it in the same place your aim will improve.. It is something I consentrate on and it makes a differences

Hardly disagree with #4. I'm not a tall and well to powerful player, but yet i still play with quite light darts with 22gr. I need lots of power for the 20 and if i run out of power i simply go to 19, because it's easier to aim for that number in case of throwing power. So i can refocus and regain power with the 19... works well.

Mistake 3 overpowering, I try not to compensate because I know that the first dart did not go as planned for some minor defect with my throw and I do agree NOT to make any adjustment as this will as your video shows got o far away from the intended target.
Having said that if the flight is partially blocking the target area then I will try to aim slightly to the side so as not to hit the flight and cause a bounce out.
If the flight is totally blocking the treble 20 then I will go for the treble 19, but only in that case.

My only advice when playing a much slower paced player, is to take your time heading to the line (pretend you just got to the dart pub and are just getting your darts together, etc) but when you get to the line, throw at your normal pace.... if you can make yourself slow down in between "heading to the line" enough to slow down the "slow" player, he will do what you normally do, and speed up his play, thereby playing into your game LOL !!

nice Video, very good tips for beginners. I wanna add smth to the tip 3: if you are hitting the 5, switch to the 19. if ur hitting the 7 then, switch to 18 with the last. Practise these switchings around the whole board so u get a good feeling for this. Instead of trying to force the T20 after the 5, just aim in another direction helps alot to regain focus. If u are a fast player like me, u always want that one dart in the T20 so u can follow up with the same movement. If you can switch quickly, you can hold onto your pace and make as much points as possible :)

don't agree with tip 4 about 19's and 20's. obviously you should get used to always hitting 20's but if for some reason you're just not hitting them and you want to make something happen and maybe heading down to 19's is a good bet. even if its only for one dart and then you go back to 20's with your last two after you've got the feeling of standing at the oche and throwing. that's why tip 5 is so important too as it plays into this. often 19's will take you onto a good finish (on 233 and you hit 7 19's for example). good counting and the knowledge of how to get yourself onto a familiar finish can take the pressure off having a bad day shooting at a particular big treble

I'm currently using standards and while I can lay with them I feel there are flights that would better suit me and my throw and play style. i will list some information below regarding the kind of darts I've settled on using.
The darts i am using currently are 18 gram and steel tipped. i likr a faster dart and the standards I am using now are quite slow.
Any advice on the types of flights that would suit me would be very much appreciated

    • @low-daddy
      @low-daddy 2 года назад

Maybe try a slim or kite flight. Pear shape may work for you too. All these tend to be "faster" than a standard flight shape and will allow a straighter trajectory. Because of less surface area, accuracy is key. Smaller flights can be a lot less forgiving and will take a bit of practice getting used to them.

Something the app needs an outshot adviser. When we are at 241 for example, a calculated outshot should come up. That way we can get used to playing better darts. A shot calculator to show us the best way for a possible outshot. That simple. The mid game which is missing fro all apps. It's not the same hitting a big score and ending up 159 than hitting a score leaving 158. That small difference wins games sometimes, and that's what I'm looking for in an app.

A good starting point is to not look at the board as singles, doubles and trebles but rather memorize all the numbers --->
      (for 20s) 20, 40, 60, (for 19s) 19, 38, 57, (for 18s) 18, 36, 54, (for 17s) 17, 34, 51... and so on...
On your last two darts, once you're comfortable with knowing you have to hit T13 (39) when you're at 71 to leave 32 for example, then you can start to memorize your combos down from 170, and after that 330-350.
I also suggest you play the Bob's 27, and the 101double practice games.

  • @Paltheus
    @Paltheus Год назад

Switching to 19s is not a mistake in my opinion. The 19s are in the quadrant with the most points side by side on the board. If you are really botching your throws at least you're not hitting 26 (Bed and Breakfast) anymore.
If you're a decent player and you hit some trebles in the 19 section it will also help you regain your confidence.
What's the point of hammering in 5s and 1s if your throws a bit off?
You will always need that 19 (and sometimes 17) cover shot, I don't care what anyone says.

I didn’t read all the comments…. Why at 405 you said you are screwed at 99 score? Why is this bad? Would you prefer a 5?

Matthew edgar made a great point in a vid about how going for the 19 a third dart doesn't mathematically make sense

switching to 19 (or 18 or 17) isn't a mistake. it's the best thing to do when you cover T20 with your previous dart

It's a good video but i disagree with #4. Switching to the 19s can help you allot by refocus at the 20s again. Just ask any pro or top league player. You can overfocus and need to re-adjust you hand/eye coördination.

Totally disagree with tip #4, and the explanation he gives, the 19's can be a lot easier to hit, and hitting them well can devastate even a good player, the psychology of being beaten with 19's really rattles a lot of players. Besides , you absolutely need to be able to switch to any number.

Completely agree with this although I play soft tip. One moment you’re going neck and neck on 501 and the next be completely destroyed in a game of cricket.

#5 is pretty normal for people playing in bars. Usually they already can’t do math but after a few beers their math skills went to shit once it’s more than their 10 fingers.

Don't switch to 19's unless you have 119. But Mistake #4 says if you're not hitting 20's, don't go 19's; so go for T20 on the first dart because you're more likely to hit it instead of hitting a single 19 and back up to 20? *confused*
