Hey, complete beginner here. Like your videos dude, clear instruction and presentation. Thanks
Thanks man I appreciate that!!
Do u have discord?
Me same. I like this guy’s organized mind. I was looking just for this set of questions.
Sure he hit nothing 😂
Great advice. I realized watching Danny Baggish throw what was wrong with my throw. I was starring way out in front of me I developed a lot of bad habits when I had dartitis and watching Danny throw I realized that’s how I used to start my throw off
This has truly been the best advice for my game. Solid advice from a solid coach! My average has been going up ever since I found this video. Thank you!!!!
Glad I could help! Thanks for watching and good luck!!
For me use the least amount of contact points (fingers) whilst still being in good control of the dart. That way you'll get a more consistent release and throw. The rest pretty much comes naturally from there. The less movement the better re. Arm retraction. From elbow only if you can.
Nice advice for shortening the back swing. I try and it works for the first throw
Overall a great video thanks! I have two points to add. 1) if your backswing is longer your brain has more time to make corrections which could lead to a more consistent throw under pressure. You also need less power coming from your triceps to accelerate the dart which in my opinion results in a lower margin of error. If you are a powerhouse thrower then forget about all this an keep your backswing short 😂
2) I do believe that a huge factor to help you find your release point is rhythm. If you have nailed your throwing rhythm from “pick the dart from your other hand until the release” the release should come naturally at roughly the same point. So try to keep a rhythm that feels natural to you and your release point will be more consistent over time.
Thanks for that video I found that very informative you've certainly answered a lot of frequently asked questions from people learning the game of darts keep up the good work mate👍
Thanks man I appreciate that!
This video is really helpful. Thanks man!
Very helpful, thanks!
Watched this video and went back and threw a bit. I was definitely moving my shoulder. After finally curing that issue and just moving at the elbow I was able to hit the numbers I was trying to more consistently. Definite improvement from this video. Thanks!
Awesome to hear! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the upload, great vid! Cheers🍻
Thanks I appreciate it!!
THANK YOU 🙏🏻
Your videos help me a lot to get better in darts. 🎯👌🏻💪🏻👊🏻
I remember a pro tip from Phil Taylor.. He said alot of players don't aim their darts and purely throw on instinct and muscle memory. And you can be good at that but you will never max out your talent.. Try to find a reference when holding the dart that comes closest to where you wanna aim and hit and practice on that ( e.g. my crosshair is my thumbnail ).. No wonder he is 17 times WC :D
Going to try that...
Mines about the same spot, the little V where my thumb meets the barrel
great video man ! one of the clearest videos on YT , thanks a lot !!!
Glad I could help! Thanks for watching!
I enjoy watching your videos. Your advise is raising the level of my steel tip and soft tip game.
Love hearing that! Keep up the good work!
You are a very thorough teacher. Instruction specific..body mechanics. Super
Thanks! It’s what I do for a living lol
I watched how you hold the dart with youre finger pointing up, that really helpt allot with my throw.i trow way better now.thanks man
Awesome!! Thanks for watching let me know how it’s working out for ya!
Thanks !
It also is how comfortable and confident you are with your throw. Over thinking my throw cause a bit of a hitch but i guess its just a mind game at that point. Nice vid👌
Thanks man! Yeah at the end of the day it’s all about what feels most comfortable
Enjoyed your tutorial, friendly and helpful. I’ve been playing darts for years…with poor technique. Trying to improve! Thank you sir
Awesome man Keep it up!!
Thanks for the great tips!!!
Thanks for watching!
This was very helpful, thanks so much
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the short class, helps alot, i have a hard time sticking to one set of darts, always thinking there's a better set, hopefully ill find that set, lol, thanks again
Haha I feel you there. I had that feeling all the time when I first started, any time my Darts would start missing more than normal I instantly blamed the darts and would buy a new set lol
Very helpful dude..Thanks from Solomon islands 🇸🇧 🏝
Thanks for your time and lesson bro
Thanks for watching! Shoot well!
Thanks man.
thanks. Great tips that really work!
Awesome! Let me know how the practice is going!
Now I know where I'm going wrong! I have been using my shoulder when throwing. It makes a massive difference when you don't use the shoulder and just use the elbow to release the dart. Thanks for the great advice!
Keep it up!!
Thank you for this. Great video.
Getting back after 13 years away from playing and your videos have been awesome. Great refresher and new lessons
Thanks man! And thanks for watching and good luck with getting back into it!!
Im a total beginner. Thanks for your tipps, very cool Video!
Thanks! Keep it up and have fun!
Nice advice man!
Thanks for the tips
Thanks for watchin!
Thanks for that video.
Thanks for watching!
I love this
I ALWAYS float my darts (releasing too early) and your third tip really helped me, thanks!
Awesome! Glad I could help, keep up the practice!
Thanks for being one of my coaches! Explanations are straight to the point.TY!
Glad it helps!!
Very good. I'm a beginner so helpful. Thanks
The fact that he just said "When you're shooting a gun" as an everyday example 😂
Americas different man
😂😂 first thing that came to mind
Awesome vid. Definitely 1 of the best for throwing info. Aka the title.. seriously the advice here is hard to find though valuable
Thanks man I appreciate that!
Many years ago I lived for darts, I practiced every chance I had. My advice to become a darts player is like any trade find the right tools, I spent a small fortune till I found the right set, in the end I found set that was near to what I wanted, then turned them down to what I wanted,
Then I practiced and practiced to achieve a better standard, to do this I practised at least for an hour a day throwing at the Bull, doing this you get better grouping of you darts, ( closer together), Then I practiced throwing around the board at the doubles, if you missed a double with you three darts, then you had to start over with double one, it payed off, especially throwing at Bull, I tried to emulate my idol ALUN EVANS of WALES. He was playing 301, double in double out, He scored, with his first 3 darts, Bull - Bull - Bull second 3 darts Bull - Treble 17 = 51 Then finished on the Bull for a 6 dart chip out, I never could emulate him, but came close a few times by starting with 3 Bulls but could never finish,
ALUN Evans and his Welsh mate Leighton Reece where the pioneers of what darts has become today, they were the first dart professionals Bless Them, I loved my darts, but alas the only way I could score at darts today is to throw the board at the darts, LOL.
To all you Guys and Gals out there please take care and keep safe...
My Respect to you ALL❤
Interesting points Subscribed will watch some more of your vid's Cheers.
Thanks Alan! I appreciate it, let me know how those darts are flying!
great watching your videos! thanks for the info :)
Thanks for watching!!
Good info! Thanks...
Thanks for watching! Shoot well!
LOVE IT!! SUBBED
Thanks!
I just started and mimicked our Austrian friend's grip, and it's actually another natural hold, works for me. Though, it depends on weight, I prefer it on lower weights like 20-22grams. Higher than that, I'll use my main grip.
Mensur? Interesting how it changes with weights. I’ve only used 18s and 25g, would be fun to play around with those in between weights
Great video 👍
Thanks man!
Nice.. Better mic is great. I also like that you are humble and explain stuff well.
Thanks man I appreciate it! Thanks for watching!
This is great.
Thanks!
Nice tips Cheers brudda .
Thanks man!
Phil Taylor absolutely points at his target.
Thanks much
That short backswing tip is golden
I think so too! But a lot of people hate it 😂😂
Great video. Helpful tip on the shoulder and elbow position. One thing I do during practice is to have a mirror nearby to watch my throw. Sometimes it gives instant feedback on the position of my elbow. Also, when you talk about pointing... I forget who said this (maybe you did!) is that you're fingers end up pointing downward after pointing at your target. It's just the natural end position for the fingers when they are travelling fast and you have a tension free throw. Last bit... can you talk about how you move your arm/elbow/shoulder/torso when you go from shooting at double 20's down to double 19's. I have a problem where my 19s are always too high. Thanks a lot, BSD
Thanks Jake! Yeah I have that video in mind, will def be coming soon!
What's up Nick? I will be rooting for you in the Chicago tour finals!!! Me and all my hustling homies are pulling for you!
Hey Pasco! Thanks I appreciate it!
It's time to get good at the darts, not just me but you too
Especially me 😂😂
Great tips on the throw and release. I've been trying to improve my game and going to try the advice. Don't worry I won't say it's all your fault when I miss. Just means I need to keep practicing. Haha. Keep up that hustle!
I’ll take the blame lol
Hi Nick, thank you for sharing your experience! Very analytic in details. Have one year of experience and catching myself thinking about same details. Can you maybe talk about difference in aiming upper and lower numbers. Currently have problems with Bullseye. Thanks
Hey Davor! Check out my upper body position video, I talk about aiming all over the board in that one, thanks for checking out my videos!
Good stuff, liked and followed 👍
Thanks!
@@BullshotDartsthe best advice I've seen. Watched a lot of videos, and you are spot on with the arm too far out, and to bring the dart closer to your eye, and the release, release where you had the dart set for the aim. No one has explained this. It is the reason I hit the 1s and 5s I'm sure of it. I tip my hat to you sir. Thank you again 👍🏻
hey. Great video. everyone has a different stand ans different throw. I've been playing darts for a few months now. getting really good at it now
Thanks! Awesome man keep it up!
Just spend as much time throwing at the Bull and doubles on a daily basis, your sure to improve...

Just started playing darts recently. And me and my girlfriend have enjoyed the entire time. We're both competitive and we also have started playing darts with my boss. He likes the game as well. I just want you to know I like what you said about amen again cuz that's exactly what I said about my throw when I talk to my boss about it. Because of that I subscribe to your channel and I like your attitude and your personality. Thank you so much for a nice little video
Awesome to hear man and thanks for the sub! Keep it up!
Just practice as much as you can, even when you get pissed off and it's boring I know, but just throw at the Bull as much as you can daily, throw at all the doubles daily, at least 1 hour practice, learn to deduct you score after each dart you throw, using the Bull will group your darts so should improve your scoring, try going round the board in doubles, start at Double 1 try to get to Double tops, but if you miss a double with your 3darts then you have to start back on Double 1, this will help you get disciplined,,, hope this helps.....

Great advice for beginners. Thank you. I completely agree with you about Mensur Suljović's throw. When I watch him play, I think that his nickname "The Gentle" should be changed to "The Ballerina". But still, he does get great results. This is my first visit to your channel but, you seem to offer some good advice about darts. I'll subscribe.
Hey Jerry! Thanks man I appreciate it!
Excellent.
Great video
I don’t have anyone to play with but I’m enjoying practicing
I have subscribed
Thank you
Try looking for some tournaments in your area!
Rad channel!
Thanks Chris!
Nice
Really impressed with your channel! Awesome points in this video about arm/elbow position and followthrough/point. I notice you grip the dart with only the index finger and thumb, and hold the other three fingers loosely. Why not folded down into your palm? Seems like there's less to get out of the way then. Just curious as I'm still experimenting with grip.
Thanks man I appreciate it! I’ve tried many different grips and that’s just what’s most comfortable. I get a lot of comments on my grip lol
subscribed!! thanks for video. what weight dart should I be using for soft-tips on a Gran Board 3S ? I'm trying some viper 16 & 18 just to see what's best but am I off base on what I'm trying?
Thanks Dabney! Use whatever weight feels most comfortable for you. My soft tips are 18g but I heard they upped the numbers so I’ll probably be getting some heavier ones soon
Just came across this segment. Good topic & informative.
It's October now. Do you have a travel schedule?
On your website you don't
Introduce or have an about you section.
Thanks
Thanks man! Not much lined up at the moment. I’ll be doing a revamp on the website once I get the store launched and will be much better!
I play soft tips and players tend to have a longer throw. The weight of the darts can factor into the amount of strength you put into the throw. A longer throw creates a higher arc, and accelerated momentum. It's another way to reach the board without the need to throw harder.
what weight dart should i be throwing on a Gran Board 3S ? i am trying out some Viper 16g and Viper 18g. What would you recommend something in the middle? like a 17g. What is the max on a Gran Board 3S, I keep hearing all kinds of different answers. What is your favorite brand?
@@dabneyoffermein595 granboard said the maximum weight for the board is 18 grams, but I've seen people using up to 20g. It all depends how hard you throw, and the type of stems/flights you use. Im currently using Monster Peacemaker 2 in 18g
Great tips bro. New sub here
Thanks man I appreciate it!
Would this be applicable to magnetics also..which I have hete
About the release point. Some advice that I got from an experienced dart player is to just throw at bulls with a lighter set and your regular set. The release point is something your subconscious just figures out. When you’re hitting bulls damn near every shot you know you’ve found your release point.
Yeah I mean if you just keep throwing eventually you’ll find your comfortable throw and that release point just becomes natural.
By the way I wasn't being critical love the video as well.
I played at a good level so appreciate what your doing keep up the good work
You’re good man haha, thanks! I like good darts conversation and hearing different points of views!
@@BullshotDarts thank you I played at County level and did the circuit a long time ago well before the PDC was formed even though some of my friends work on the PDC looking forward to the next video
Do you throw anymore??
@@BullshotDarts I do but not on the circuit I play in local League only now I'm afraid but have never lost my love of the game, do you not have Leagues where you are from not so much now because of the Pandemic but you used to be able to play Monday to Friday in different Leagues then Comps over the weekend or County games.
I'd like to know more how the grip changes such as that "twitch" of the middle finger just before starting the forward movement, how the wrist movement contributes or how to throw the dart with some "zip" without losing your grip
If you’re referring to my throw specifically, that’s kind of a bad thing in my throw I unconsciously do.
What’s the best dart board to buy?
Yes... You are suppose to point at the dart board! In my opinion the greatest dart thrower Phil Taylor, literally says in his dart video to point at the board. Nice video man keep up with the tutorials my friend. Let the haters hate!!! Lol
Haha thanks Carnell!!
Great video. I get the karate chop motion but can you address the wrist and fingers. Do you keep tension in wrist, too? Also, are you conscious of your elbow being level or are you more concerned with "sighting" the dart?
Thanks manny! I do have my wrist back but no tension. Like I’ll bend it back as far as it goes without having to put any extra effort into bringing it back if that makes sense. Yeah I don’t worry about elbow height, having the dart in my eye sight is what I focus on
This is an excellent video and I love your presentation style! I wonder if you could give me some advice, please? I'm a petite lady and only 5' 3" tall. Would you recommend I use lighter or heavier darts? I seem to struggle at the moment with the higher part of the board. Someone told me heavy darts would be better as apparently light darts need to be thrown higher because of the arc? I currently use 20-gram darts.
I think that’s just one of those things you’ll have to experiement with and see what works best. Let me know what ends up working out!
Hell of a smile
Great tutorial, I have a bad follow through bc I am focus too much on grabbing the next dart, while trying not to move or sway, I like to be as stiff as possible, timing, rhythm, movement and form is a lot more than meets the eye.
I feel you there! I find myself doing that when I’m rushing myself, so I’ll take a second and slow down
Absolutely brilliant video im a much better darts player now since following your videos thanks so much
Great to hear! Keep it up!
You got better because you practice nothing more, just do more dart practice then you will get better, it's not rocket science, just fact....
BlueNose22UK
great tips, it seems in the mornings my arm hits reset and my throw doesnt feel natural until the midday. any advice for preparation before a game or tournament?
I’d say it’s due to not warming up the body. When I wake up first thing in the morning I can’t throw. I always get in a good workout before tournaments to loosen everything up. I’m actually uploading a video about this today lol
@@BullshotDarts thanks, i watched another upload of yours that answered some questions. i think to some it up is ive lost confidence in my darts
Danke für's Video und die Arbeit dafür. Grüße an alle! 😄
Ideosyntric dart throwers notwithstanding, I commend your approach for sharing with us indisputable fundamentals regardless of outliers. In his classic book, "Golf My Way," Jack Nicklaus also mentioned world-class players with quirks in their swing, such as Lee Trevino. Despite these outliers, Nicklaus insisted that a student of the game stick with and be loyal to the indisputable fundamentals of the game to improve. Nicklaus also said that no matter how unorthodox Trevino's swing looked on camera, he always arrived at the ball at impact exactly like a world-class player. Entrust and master extending the arm from the elbow is the actual engine of the dart motion, precisely as this instructor insists. We are in good hands with Bullshot.
Thanks man!
How do I know what weighted darts suit my throw? I want to buy some good ones but unsure how I know this. Thanks
One of those things that comes with throwing. I recommend going to a dart store that has darts to try out, if not, find some friends with different darts to try out
An alternate method to pointing at your target is shaking hands with the board. At the end of your throw your hand should be in a position similar to shaking hands with someone. Nice little trick Jimmy Damore taught me before he was kicked out of Di's Den......for the 3rd time.
Oh Jimmy 😂 yeah that’s another great way to have a good follow through!
Loved the video, informative, and helpful, but I have questions. What if you are not able to stand still without pain long enough to do what you are referring to? I have had 5 back surgeries and I hurt all the time. I play darts to help deal with the pain even though it hurts to do so and I still love the game. As a result, I have a very ugly throw. I use 3 different sets, Viper Bumble Bees @ 18 grams, what can be considered Bar Dats @ 12 grams, and my favorite Termite Darts @ 4.8 grams with the flights and flight protectors. I do have a small grouping enough to warrant the use of flight protectors to guard against Robin Hooding and have even learned to throw ambidextrous to prevent one arm from getting too sore. With all that said I'm still plagued with consistency issues. Do you have any thoughts on how to correct that issue?
Sorry to hear you got all that pain! All my tips and stuff I say are guidelines, but at the end of the day you gotta do what’s comfortable for you, so whatever’s most comfortable with the least pain is what will be best
You mentioned Mensur Suljovic and his throw. He had dartitis and had to change his throw so that is why he throws like that
Oh interesting, I haven’t heard about that
When you release your throw, do you roll the dart with your pointer finger ?
I don’t think so, my darts don’t really spin to the board
Playing darts for 10years, im 17btw, every single player said i had the best the cleanest throw they have seen, changed darts everything changed throw got all nasty follow through was different every dart, everything went downhill, and i managed to get along with my dirty looking way of playing that i got into national team was scoring high, doubles nasty, and even i can say that this was the best guidence i have heard from anyone, changed all of my nasty stuff and now my game is way up there, and i played with nasty throw and stance for years, so thank you, and hope a lot of other people can learn from ya, good one!
Awesome to hear Keep it up man! 17 is a great age to be a dart player right now!
Holy cow, my arm is too far out in front when I set up. I tried starting further back and notice a big difference. With the follow through, do i have to flick my wrist at the end?
Awesome man!! I wouldn’t say it’s a must but I think it will definitely help with the follow through. It’s one of those things that it comes down to comfortability.
don't try to overdo the flick tho, if your release isn't on point a wrist flick can really mess up your arrow
Are you holding the dart with your thumb and index finger, with the middle finger on the tip?
Yep!
I throw my dart next to my head instead of under my eye for my sight line. It seems to ne working well and throwing in front of my eye feels off. Should I change or continue the way I'm throwing? Thanks
Hey Joe! If that’s what’s comfortable and works best, stick with it. I know top notch players who throw like that. There’s no right or wrong way, just some guidelines but at the end of the day all that matters is what feels right
When I was playing darts earlier on I was letting the dart "sail". Is that a proper technique?
I wouldn’t say there’s a proper way for that, if sailing it feels best, then it’s proper for you
Not overthink
What’s your preferred online store for darts and accessories?
I usually buy mine from whatever vendor is available at a tournament
How is your release Point the same as your back stroke? You don't release your Dart at your face as you said, cuz you have no speed build up?
Not the same as my backstroke, so I set up to aim, and that aim spot is where I start my release after my backswing
Hi I've noticed when I release the dart and open my hand up so all my fingers are spread I hit the target more often is this luck or are they a reason behind it,thanks
I have a similar thing with my pinky, sometimes holding it out Vs keep it in makes a huge difference. So if spreading your fingers like that helps you throw better, then stick with it!
@@BullshotDarts thanks mate I have been struggling in recent months but been trying this technique all day and managed a 180 so feeling confident.i know people say hitting doubles is more important but when your confidence is low a 180 can boost it lol
Just Luck. KEEP AT IT
