Nice plumbing as usual, Roger. One thing that caught my eye, and it wasn't an issue 10 years ago.. but I'm heading for 56, and at this point, before I tackle any jobs like this, the first thing I reach for in my truck is my kneepads.. For me, they are a lifesaver. I can work on the floor without them, but my knees remind me later. I also like the heavier flange bolts as well; I've been using the Sani Seal Big Foot Bolts and have really come to like them. They are anodized blue aluminum, so they won't rust. They also have the easy snap off feature. Something else to check out.
I have seen those, but never used them I'll have to check those out! and knee pads are a MUST for me, can't believe I forgot it this time. Thanks for watching
After watching any of your videos I swear the confidence you pass on makes me feel I can do that exact task.
You’re capable! 😎
Good stuff.
Well done
Good job Roger!
I am a plumber in Ohio and am surprised to see that you don’t use the Sioux Chief smart caps! Those are super cool, and no more need to cut off bolts! I also use the 5/16” brass bolts rather then the 1/4”! Good job!
Thanks 👍
I'm also a plumber and have been using the smart caps for years as well. The nice thing is they don't get lost as easy as the short snap ons.. I can't tell you how many times I've seen jobs where the bolts weren't cut or cut to high and the installer just "set" the snap on cap on top of the bolt. Soon to go the way of the dodo bird the first time it gets hit with a mop, etc.
Watching this whole process was very therapeutic, thanks :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
having had to replace a compression type, that somebody cranked down too hard, I appreciate the fact a sweated valve can be sweated back off, and the pipe doesn't have to be shortened to get to good copper.
Hey Roger, can you do a video on different types of pipes and HOT water damage? With tanks sending out hot water or people putting boiling water down drains can this do damage? Maybe a video test on this sir!
Cool
I have 2 sons, 16 & 17, learning plumbing with me. 16 yo has a knack for it and I'm wondering when do you think is best time/age to get into an apprenticeship and how would he do it? He's homeschooled and flexible hours but involved with Scouts, Church, and works a Farmers Market with his aunt a couple weekends a month.
No compression angle stop? Or solder angle stops is your preference?
I prefer solder
New to plumbing and I wanna learn, so my question is, when you installed the angle stop, what was the purpose of burning it?
The original one was soldered on, so I heated it up to melt the old solder so I can take off that angle stop and put a new one on
I hope your luck on Emergency calls holds out.
That's why I wear gloves!, lol 😆
