Corey Taylor: "This is the slow one. It's another personal one. Again, not naming names, it's about someone who helped me through a lot and I thought she felt the same way that I did and then she really let me down. At the same time, it was good that she did, because it was that final push to me figuring out myself. The lyrics are pretty self-explanatory."
This is why it's my absolute favorite Slipknot song. I'm sure alot of folks can relate, but this exact scenario hit me too. It woke me up and made me get on with my life.
If I could make a recommendation. When you pause the song for commentary, which we all very much want to hear, you may want to backtrack the song a few seconds. This way when you pause the song and resume it you don't miss important verses in the lyrics that sometimes get broken up during the commentary and lose their full impact. Keep it going ladies. We love it.
I actually squeeled with excitement when I saw you reviewing this!! Yes I'm one of your babies that requested it. His voice is incredible and passionate and the first I heard this it made me cry and I still get chills every time I do. Thank you lovely ladies for doing this one ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️

React to Wintersun: Sons of winter and stars (live rehearsal) . Amazing. Anyone reading this search this song, thank me later. Instrumentals are out of this world.
Great reaction, ladies. Backstory: The song is about the divorce of the singer, Corey Taylor. The sad part is that this is the last song that Taylor and his best friend, and band mate, Paul Grey, wrote together before Gray died of cardiac arrest. There’s actually a live version of this song where Taylor plays this by himself on stage, unmasked, and it’s pretty awesome. Highly recommend it.
I've seen that and it's painful to watch. Love this song. I love listening to him singing this acoustically as long as I don't have to see him when singing it. Its heartbreaking.

So backstory: This song was originally about a girl that Corey developed strong feelings for and helped him through a lot but in the end, she didn't feel the same way for him. He has said that at the time he wrote this, he was in a VERY dark place not just because of the relationship problems but also emotionally and mentally and he has said that it's a song "about having your back against the floor and do you want to pick yourself up, not can you, do you even want to?" And for anyone, like myself who has been there, it is a horrible place to be. Because the meaning is so dark and heavy, he knew it would fit with Slipknot. However, Slipknot had the time wasn't exactly known for it's slower, sad songs. So at first people were a little turned off by it but most could understand how dark and melancholy it was and loved it. Now although Corey has been the main lyricist for the band from the time he joined to present, he didn't have as much to do with the music side of it. He would help with riffs and mixes here and there but for the most part, left the music to the band and he provided the words. With this song, he brought in the lyrics and music and at first the rest of the band were a little reluctant to try it. However Paul (the bassist at the time) loved it and really championed for them to do the song and give it a shot. Which obviously they did and made something amazing. Unfortunately, Paul died of an accidental overdose about a year after the 'All Hope Is Gone' record (the record this song is on) was released. It hit the band really hard. So now when Corey plays this song at acoustic shows and such, it's for Paul because he loved it so much. It's his tribute song now. Sorry for the novel in the comments but just wanted to give as much information as I have ascertained. Love you ladies.❤❤
They even told us also all of them was in a very dark place since the album Iowa. They were fight each other, even a month spent before they could get together to record a little riff to a song, or anything else. They all had problems and because of drugs they were aggresive and sometimes not even talk with each other since then. Paul was the only one who realy tried to hold all of them together. He burned a lot of energy to make peac in the band and to continue it, to not break up. And I think that's why it was a realy dark place for Corey, but even the whole band when they finished the All Hope Is Gone album, because Paul was the only one who hold them together and then he left everyone. At least this is what I remember of what I informed.
Wow thank you for explaining it all, I had noooooooo idea. I saw them in concert 12 years ago. They opened for Rob Zombe. I HATED them in fact weren't outside for a smoke a beer and came back when they were done. HUGE REGRET. I'm mesmerized now.

This is actually Paul Greys favorite song Corey has a really hard time singing it live because it reminds him of Paul Grey. After this album was released and Paul had passed in 2010 due to a drug over dose. After all this happening Corey went and got a memorial tattoo for Paul Grey on his calf. Just goes to show how much Corey loved Paul he was Corey's best friend.
They were friends, but i don't know about best friends. Joey and Paul were a lot closer than Paul and Corey. I'm not saying they weren't very close friends - but like i said, the relationship that Joey and Paul had was stronger than Paul and Corey's.

Ya this is why I don't like music videos. It takes away from the song and people who don't really know slipknot just follow whats going on in the video and they miss the song. I've listened to Slipknot since my mom was Prego with me, and it's still my favorite band. I would love to see you guys do psychosocial. And if you did already and I didn't see it, I apologize. Heyo, just some song suggestions, Sweet Dreams Are Made Of These by Marylin Manson, Coming Undone by Korn, Teenagers by My Chemical Romance, Sad But True by Metallica, Unholy by Kiss, I Hate Everything About You by Three Days Grace, The Kill by Thirty Seconds To Mars, Mama by My Chemical Romance, and Let's Go Crazy by Prince
Just listen to the song for the understanding of the lyrics lol
Ok grannies what about some Shinedown or Alter Bridge. Brent and Myles have the most stunning voices.
Since both of you seem to enjoy System of a Down. Can i recommend checking out "Daron Malakian and Scars On Broadway - Lives (Official Video)". It's the guitarist from system of a down (the one that escaped from a Mad Max movie) who created his own band and is the lead singer.
Ya this is why I don't like music videos. It takes away from the song and people who don't really know slipknot just follow whats going on in the video and they miss the song. Watch the acoustic version from just Corey Taylor. You will be less distracted by the video. Oh and who is mowing the lawn???? 😆😆
Ohhhh pls do the negatives one next!!
I've listened to Slipknot since my mom was Prego with me, and it's still my favorite band. I would love to see you guys do psychosocial. And if you did already and I didn't see it, I apologize. But it's an amazing song. And there is a version that is mixed with Justin Bieber's song baby and it's kinda funny
God bless you two. Your theories and conversation are truly fantastic. Thanks for the vids!
Can you please do Wrong Side of Heaven by Five Finger Death Punch? Make sure you do the actual video. It's a fact filled video about our troops that gets me every time
