Katie you should totally do a video where you get an actual sleep study and compare it to the oura ring results! I'd love to see how accurate it is.

All the newer Garmin devices use both green and red sensors. The green for heart rate and the red for blood/oxygen metrics.
The firmware is being consistently updated to hone the accuracy of the new sensors.

    Great breakdown.
I went from my fitbit(too many problem) to the Withings Healthmate(under mattress) and had big doubts. I am still shocked how accurate it is for my heart rate(I compare it to my Polar chest strap), and for sleep cycles. I like the app. The problem is that it is in in your bed and is a sleep only device.

I think the ring first, and the fit bit are the best. The ring is easy, and not a bother. The fit bit you can check anytime and use for many things. First, quality, second price.

That was awesome! You covered all of my questions and I really appreciated the dive into sensor technology. My mother had progressive sleep apnea in her later years that had an increasingly severe impact on her health so I'm particularly interested in devices that can measure blood oxygen. I'd be very curious to hear your opinion of the Fitbit spO2 tracker and if you know of any other devices that could give people an early warning of apnea. As always, thanks for the great video!

Dreem2 is by far the best in the game but it can cause you to lose hair where the top strap touches. Switching head positions during sleep can cause friction, I now have a bald line where the top strap goes

Isn't the data analysis you're getting on the fitbit vs the apple... more dependent on the app used to process the data? Meaning you could use a better app for the Apple? The apple one is pretty bare minimum from what I've seen. I ask, because I know several people who have had a fitbit (myself included), and they notoriously stop working just after the warranty expires. Seems like a poor investment. What about the Garmin Venu? An interesting alternative that I've been looking at.

It's really a pity there's no any wrist activity tracker on your list...I am not comfortable with a big watch like the Sense, and I don't see myself wearing a ring when doing strength training. And I'm looking for something that you can wear for everything, not something that's only to track sleep or only to wear during workouts. Isn't there any band that you think it'd be good enough? Maybe something from Garmin? I'm looking at the Vivoactive/Vivosport, but they are fairly old and you know Murphy's law...also they have some drawbacks. Thanks a lot, glad I subscribed.

I am new to your videos and do not know what you have reviewed in the past. Do you know anything about the Koretrack? The price is great but I can't find any reviews that aren't sponsored by the company that sells it. I likely can't wear a device that requires headgear because I'm already wearing sleep apnea hear gear. Have you already addressed this issue in the past?

I like xiaomi’s mi ban2. It is not that accurate. But I got a rough idea how many hours I was in bed for the day and the biggest feature it that the battery last a long time, 29 days! I used to wear Apple Watch but it is so thick and the idea of you have to take it off and charge everyday does not fit my lifestyle. Of the price for miban was about 23$. I wear it all the time. Even when I am taking a shower.

I would say if you're going for a cheap sleep tracker, I was a big fan of the mi band. I love the Fitbit ecosystem but I haven't found the sleep tracking to be very accurate compared with the oura or dreem devices. If you're looking for a sub $200 sleep tracker I wouldn't recommend trying to focus on accuracy. Rather focus on finding a device that motivates you establish healthy habits! Hope that helps

  • @petervr406

Still miss my EarlySense Live which anecdotally was the most accurate of the sleep trackers I've used. Currently using both the EMFIT QS and Whoop... I like how the QS tracks HRV through the night, seems a bit more representative than the (apparent?) single measurement Whoop does (or use?) during deep sleep. Other than that I feel that Whoop is more accurate, tracks my disturbances during the night better.
Love your channel, keep it up and can't wait for the Dreem review!
PS. EarlySense and Whoop has been the only trackers I've found that published a comparison study with a PSG

@@UrbanTarantulas I’ve had the Whoop for 6 months now, and I do love it, but between the price model and the closed ecosystem, I wasn’t completely happy.
The integration of Oura and Apple Health was a big reason I bought an Oura the other day and am going to be trying it for a month. I’m still less than a week in, but much more comfy to wear than the Whoop, though less adjustable.
Biggest thing for me is having everything talk to each other, instead of having Whoop data exist in a vacuum. I totally am on the same page as you in terms of wanting my devices to all work together.
