Thanks for the helpful video! I am installing a SE too. One thing that's not clear to me is this: How far do you push the top of the C clamps into the cover? Do you just catch the metal plate at the bottom of the center piece or do you go for the aluminum that is welded to the plate? Any thoughts? Kind of an odd question, I know.
Great video. I also have the Diamondback SE on my '24 Taco long bed. Do you find the middle clamps are crushing the plastic bed side rail covers? That is what the shims are supposed to prevent and I've redone mine a few tines now and still no luck.
I had the same issue on my 2018 Colorado ZR2. I removed the caps and put aluminum spacers in. Then, drilled through the cap and metal bed and bolted my diamond back cover down lol.

I have not had that happen yet. Maybe you overtightened the brackets?
