    If you buy the racks with the cover you can pay them to add the rack tracks for you..your the first person that showed the rear view mirror …I pull a boat and want to be able to use my rear view mirror

      Back when I ordered it. They didn’t install them. I am not sure if they would now. That rear view was a big deal for me so I figured it may be for others

    THANK YOU. This is exactly the info I’ve been looking for. Wondering if I could mount a RTT to my SE and not knowing if it would crumble from the weight had me worried. Also the rear view mirror visibility segment was huge. Great video man.

      Awesome man! So glad this helped! I just installed the rough country Molle panels on the inside of the truck. It fit perfect with the diamond back and it holds gear really well.

    I good review. A question. Those hinges that attach the front and rear cover to that center strip, what's to keep someone from just unscrewing those hinges from on top? And if someone does that, can those front and rear covers be more easily just ripped off? Is that a compromise of the security aspect of these covers? Thanks. Oh, and do you know, would the roof of the cab support putting the pop up tent up there, on some kind of cross rails or other rack system, and a few people sleeping in it? How nice to have it up there, higher from animals, and then still have full access to both ends of the bed cover. I'm actually looking at a Ford F150 though, but same idea.

    • @road2manhood
      @road2manhood  3 месяца назад +1

      Oh man sorry I am just getting this. I never saw this come through. This hinges have to be upright and pulled to the side for it to come off. It is pretty secure.
      Regarding the roof rack. The rack will support the tent but if you plan on taking trails. It’s best to have it on the bed for weight distribution. Did you end up getting the truck?

    Great video! I have a Yeti 110 and was wondering if the cooler would still be able to slide in the bed under the cover. I noticed you have a Yeti as well. Did you have any problems fitting your Yeti inside the bed with the cover installed?

    • @road2manhood
      @road2manhood  2 года назад +1

      That is a great question. I had that one myself when I was shopping for a bed cover. No issues with the yeti fitting. It started rubbing the rubber portion of the locking mechanism but that’s only if you have the yeti wedged all the way to the tailgate and again see the wall. You probably won’t experiance that but it’s worth mentioning. But overall, it slides right in.

      @@road2manhood awesome. Thanks for the quick reply. I’m leaning toward the HD for my Tundra but the Yeti not fitting would be a deal breaker for me.

  • @lukemondt5352
    @lukemondt5352 Год назад +1

    Hey man quick question for you, since you got the SE it hauls up to 400lbs on it. But it looked like you had your tent on there and your whole family up there, do you think you exceeded the 400lbs if so how do you think it did with that?

    • @skullsroad3642
      @skullsroad3642 11 месяцев назад

      For sure he exceeded the weight limit. You're also supposed to use a 3rd cross bar when using a roof top tent per DB and Front Runner guidelines. But they also have to worry about being sued by fat people making the beast with 2 backs in their tents. So I'm willing to bed it does just fine as long as you're a healthy weight and don't go buck wild up there.

    • @road2manhood
      @road2manhood  3 месяца назад

      So sorry I am just getting to this Luke. I don’t know how I missed it. For my small family, the SE worked perfect. If I had a tundra and a bigger tent, I would consider getting the HD just incase.

  • @Tykirkpatrick

    did you/would you ever consider the taller Yakima Overhaul bed rack 19-23"? I am thinking good for kayaks or other hauling without the tent (iKamper), but am worried about excessive noise with the tent up that high

    • @road2manhood
      @road2manhood  Год назад

      Those are great racks but for what we do and as much as we travel. I wouldn’t want the tent to be sitting that high. It would cause drag while driving unfortunately. Also, since we take trails, we try to keep high clearance below the vehicles but low profiles on top. This helps keep the truck not as top heavy, less risk of roll overs. Regarding wind noise, I have not found a solution to prevent that at this time. Our wind noise is pretty bad.

    • @road2manhood
      @road2manhood  2 года назад

      Thank you!
      These accessories would work great for your kayaks. There are a few other accessories that have been released through other venders. Some that have more side panel options for other gear if needed. But if it’s just for the kayaks, you can’t go wrong with the front runner set. Let me know what you decide on.

      UPDATE** I bought a HD Diamondback after a lot of research, it really is the best cover for security,strength and so far weatherproof. I got one in amazing shape for 1700.00 and i don't even have it fully installed correctly yet (making final compression adjustments) and it keeps out 95% water, been thru hail.snow and a lot of different types of rain (PNW) and if i need the absolute full bed its not to tough to remove it all if needed.

    Can the SE model hold the RTT and two people given the weight limit of the cover or will the cover fail?

    • @road2manhood
      @road2manhood  2 года назад

      I have a roof nest hard shell tent and have had 3 people sleep in it with no issues what so ever. Also, the rack system I have spaces out the weight pretty well. Would you be using the front runner rack system?

  • @luisdiegocr
    @luisdiegocr 2 года назад +1

    I notice that your Cons are because using the tent on top of the bed cover. How about using it on the roof rack?

    • @road2manhood
      @road2manhood  2 года назад

      Because this is my primary vehicle and the tent isn’t on there all the time. The conns are not bad at all. I personally wouldn’t recommend anybody putting a tent on the top of a trucks roof. They are not meant to carry the weight including the aerodynamics while driving, and also I am not crazy about how it looks. But when we are out camping. This set up primarily works so well.
