- In this video we take a look at three luxury items that I use when I'm going out into the woods or on a day hike. Only someone who spends real time outdoors will fully appreciate that a good pair of socks is truly a luxury item indeed. bit by bit your camp is starting to grow, nice chair Mark 👍

Karl and Shane are absolutely amazing souls! I am so glad I hit the "Sub" button for this channel many moons ago. A no nonsense approach which is seriously refreshing , calm and collected whilst showing "how to" on the bushcraft side and a direct review of products with zero-faff directions on how things are, how they work and things you dislike. Hi Mark. It's nice to see the pad getting some use mate, doing no good to anyone gathering dust on a shelf. That parabolic mirror was cool, I haven't seen many people using those. The Frost River pack looked awesome, Ive been drooling over those at the bushcraft store website for ages. Thanks for sharing I always enjoy a video from you. Be safe and be lucky man. Wol.

Recently I've found I've been carrying more luxury items in my pack. I've been doing backpacking trips and the extra items such as a sleeping pad save me time so I can hike longer distances.
Hi Josh, I hope you are keeping well mate. I was going to use my sleeping pad in the video, but I most others had mentioned them. I agree, a good sleeping mate is always worth it's weight. Hi Marco & Racoon, I hope you have been keeping well 👍. I agree.... I wouldn't be without my waterproof socks. I have worked on fisheries for a number of years, and wet soggy feet has always been my pet hate. Especially if I have got to spend the day walking as well, there is nothing worse than the rubbing. Great luxury items Mark 👍. Really lovely kit . Nice choices and all fantastic in their own right. You should be an ambassador for those seal skin socks I bet you've sold a few pairs of them for the company over you're youtube career and probably back in the day from the Outdoor shop 👍. Those are great chairs for a permanent camp. I was watching season 6 of Alone and one of the contestants was sitting on one. I've lost count of the amount I've made over the years but they're good. I've got two in the back garden now as my garden furniture lol 🙂. The Mrs ain't that keen on em though 🙂. That saw is a beauty too 1👍. It was gliding through that wood like a hot knife through butter. I'll take up the tag, cheers Mark. Not sure what I'll show though, I'm a bit rough n ready n not many luxury items but I'll take a leaf out of your book and maybe go for my more expensive kit where I've been treated to some nice gear 🙂. I forgot I had to ask someone until I was out filming lol. I'm sure whatever you show will be interesting mate. Yeah I agree, the socks have been a lifesaver over the years. I hate soggy feet..... especially if you have got to get some hiking in as well. But they have proved themselves time and time again. I have emptied water out of my boots and taken the socks off and my feet are still warm and dry. I will look forward to watching your Fathers day video mate. I hope you had some decent weather. Currently waiting for a new hip, my mobility gone. Been waiting since Christmas 2019 then we got Lockdown it hasn’t helped.

@@Yorkshiremadmick Sorry to hear about that Michael😒. It can be hard when you are waiting for the hospital. Especially if you are in pain and it is effecting day to day living. I have had my fare share of the hospital. This lockdown has been hard on a lot of people mate. Typical that it came as you were waiting to go in. My Auntie has had cancer whilst the lockdown has been on, so she has been left pretty much alone at home as they didn't want here traveling to the hospital. I will keep my fingers crossed for you mate. You will be running around in no time mate 👍👍👍.

Stellar video Mark. I hear you on the lack luxury items. (I would have had to do a video on my twenty year old thermarest sleeping pad..... b-o-r-i-n-g!!! 🙄) I've always wondered how those parabolic reflectors would work in the real world. Thanks for showing that. BTW, got my Pathfinder order, and my Tomshoo woodgas stove. So far so good with all items. I think you'd like the 64oz bushpot. Same level of quality as the Pathfinder mug, bail locks solidly in place, nice LARGE handles. No complaints. Still trying to beat down the learning curve with the Tomshoo but think it's a great piece of kit! Thanks very much for all you do here on "the tube"! Greatly appreciated sir!!
Hi Jerry, I hope you are keeping well mate 👍. LOL, I was struggling myself to come up with some luxury items. I thought I might have to show my sleeping bags etc, but I thought the other items might be more interesting to show. I'm glad you are happy with your purchases Jerry. I have had my eye on the bushpot for a while. I love the mug, so when I'm back in work I will probably treat myself to one 👍. You can buy parabolic reflectors for quite cheap on eBay. They are great piece of kit if you live somewhere where it is sunny for a lot of the time. Here it is a bit hit and miss, so it is nice when I can use it. I usually carry a lens from a rifle scope that I broke down. It is smaller and lighter, so it can be carried all the time. Thanks as always for watching and taking the time to comment. Yeah it’s a funny one luxury items isn’t it. The socks and the other gear from Seal Skins were very nice. I’ve heard good things about those socks, might be worth a purchase especially for winter.
A very nice rucksack too here Mark, I’m sure you get your money’s worth out of it each time it’s used.
The chair was spot on and fits well in your camp. It’s coming along great now isn’t it. Even better when you have permission to be there. You can get to build there which is a massive bonus. Would you think about building a shelter there Mark?

I was just saying to someone that last year at the show, they were selling the sealskinz for £10 per pair. So I was gutted that they cancelled it for this year as I wanted to pick a few more pairs up for the winter myself too. I will hopefully build some kind of shelter Ant. I am supposed to be going up with the owner this week to put a shelter up with him for the time he wants to stay up there. He has bought a proper shelter that he has cleaned an area for, but I will have a word and see if he minds me building something a bit more primitive for myself. Hi Mark hope your keeping well mate thanks for doing the tag was good to see your 3 luxury items. I've heard of the seal socks before but have never got round to buying them because of the price but think I might have to cos I'm always getting wet feet on Dartmoor although a lot of the reason for that is I wasn't looking after my boots properly. Good morning Carl..... I hope you are keeping well mate 👍. Cheers for the tag mate, sorry it took me a while to get around to it. Yeah sealskinz socks were a life saver when I was down on Dartmoor. Especially during the back end of the season when things were usually wet and muddy. They aren't cheap, but once you have worn them a few times, they soon pay you back. I'm just sorting mine out now. Cool chair, I need to get my finger out and build one at my camp when we can go camping again.
We used to get issued those goretex socks in the army, but got told never to wear them because of they give you blisters. But they're always held in high regard by the outdoor community. Might have a gander at some sealskinz for the coming Autumn/winter 👍

Hi Andy, I hope you are keeping well mate 👍. Yeah I remember seeing loads of MOD sealskinz for sale last year at the bushcraft show last year. They were only £10 a pair so I was gutted it was cancelled this year as I wanted to get a few pairs. Blisters have never been an issue with them for me. I sometimes wear a thin liner sock if I am out hiking for the day, but in general they have been fine. I have been missing your videos Andy, I will look forward to when you can get out again mate. Thanks Joe..... I hope you have had a nice weekend mate 👍. You still can't beat a good old stump. They come in handy for all sorts of things. I could do with finding a couple for the camp. Yeah, Frost river make some top quality packs. Like you say, they are expensive, especially here in the UK. I have a couple and have been very happy with them. As long as I look after them they will be worth the money. I noticed that someone was selling one of the original prototype Duluth packs on eBay. Hi Mike, I hope you have had a nice weekend mate 👍. I noticed on their website that they are doing a discount if you buy them on line. I am looking at getting a couple of new pairs for the winter. I agree Mike, apart from my approach shoes, most of my footwear doesn't have a membrane. I remember talking to a guy from Gore about Gore-Tex linings in leather boots and he said it wasn't the best option. For Gore-Tex to work right it needs to be kept clean, but unlike a waterproof jacket that can be washed, nobody washes the insides of their leather boots, so the membrane clogs up with dirt and sweat overtime and doesn't allow the moisture to escape. @@markbailey2981 I'm always bloody poorly lol. I've been off work over a week now my dog gouged my left eye been in hospital twice with it. It's not as painful now but can only see out of one 😎 can't drive yet but hopefully it'll be sorted soon. All the best mate 😃
@@MrRealdealdd That sounds nasty mate. There's nothing worse that bad eyes. I had a thorn stuck in mine a few years ago. It was painful but the worst thing is not been able to see. I'm glad you are on the mend Dave. I haven't been to work since March. I did a few weeks after the winter break and then got finished again. Hello Mark, Hope your are well mate? That woodland chair is great, looks really comfortable. I agree 100% with you about Sealskinz, I hate to think how long ago it was when I purchased two pairs of SealSkinz gloves for outdoor work in the wet, a pair for me and a pair for my son who was in the RAF they were great. That parabolic mirror looks interesting, where did you get that from? Did you get anywhere with the Peak Park rangers mate and hope the work front is looking brighter for you. Hi Mel, I hope you are keeping well mate 👍. I'm all good here thanks mate. I wouldn't be without my Sealskins Mel. I have been out today building a couple of things for the camp, and it has been non stop rain all day. The only dry things when I got back in the car were my feet. The parabolic reflector I picked up at the Woodland ways shop in Bakewell. I nipped in last time I went to pick some leather up from the Identity store. They are a nice piece of kit. But most of the time I carry a small magnifying glass from a rifle scope that I broke down. It fits in the fire kit easier and it is lighter. You can also make them from an old coke can. I have seen them polished up with chocolate and ignite tinder with the base. It took a while to get it going, but it is another way of knowing how to start a fire. I would probably eat the chocolate and go cold lol. Yes I did hear back Mel......it makes a nice change. But they said that due to the restrictions they won't be doing the normal amount of work this year, so they were even going to lay off some of longer serving guys. They said they put the advert up before it all stated and forgot to take it down. But they said try again next season. So at least I know where to look again. I did see a few ranger jobs advertised in Warwickshire, but I don't fancy moving again. I'm getting too old lol. Thanks as always Mel for taking the time. It is always great to hear from you.
