ya great one , just find this one to i manage to drop the temps in gaming by 10 degrees now , using -30 in that pbotuner 2 app .
the temps are great now max 62 in gaming and average 55-57 in most games i tried.
Before i got 71-72 degress in some cpu intensive games , and like 64-65 average.
Night and day diff now also the clocks boost higher and stay locked almost at 4.450 mhz doesnt drop back and forward bellow 4ghz like happend without using this app before.

Just followed your tutorial tonight and totally blown away with the results. Was getting 90c in cinebench r20 and cores only going to 4.250. After a - 30 reduction, I'm now max 80c and getting much higher and consistent clocks.
Biggest difference happening in games as I'm seeing even bigger temp reductions.
Before I was starting to consider a new case, reapply paste or even buy a new cooler but now super happy with the results. Even noticing a reduction in my gpu temps since the change.
Followed your guide to get tuner to apply changes on restart and all working fine for me.

All core curve neg offset -30
Voltage under volt offset I have just got to 0.206mV.

It depends on your offset. @-30 all core my 5800x3d runs cooler by ~10 degrees celsius, but only @4451mhz all cores. When I go all cores @-20 offset my CPU runs almost as hot as stock, however my cores run between 4700-5000mhz. 5800x3d is generally a well binned cpu, so I expect a lot of people will have a good chance to run -30 offset no problems (its still silicon lottery ofc)

Thanks a lot for this. I was gaming for a while and my 5800X3D went up to about 85C on an air cooler while stock. I knew it ran a bit hot but this was a bit uncomfortably hot for me. The glass on the side of my case was extremely warm to touch (running a 7900 XT with it). My 3600X used to only go up to about 65C under load. Using your undervolt technique at -30 in the same game (Days Gone) my CPU only went up to about 73C with the boost at 4450 MHz. This is a huge temp improvement - I was even considering going out and buying a bigger cooler but that seems unnecesary now. Thanks a lot for the tips!

  • @JMUDoc
    @JMUDoc Год назад +4

The problem with Curve Optimizer is that the voltage drop effect increases with increased frequency... and the highest frequencies happen at the LOWEST load.
I had a 5700X that was stable at -30 all-core for huge multi-core loads, but would crash while browsing the internet - you've got to check stability at very low loads/high frequencies, and I suggest OCCT AVX Large with core cycling.

This is a bit of a necro post, but I though I'd share anyways.
the units being discussed in the PBO tuner are AMD PBO curve power units. They are not straight voltage.
1 PBO curve unit is 3-5mv.
Therefore -10 offset in PBO tuner is ~40mv negative offset.
AMD mandated PBO curve function lockout in Ryzen Master and UEFI. But PBO Tuner can access them. This was done to prevent damage to the cache. It's very touchy to people adding voltage.
My Asus board's UEFI will allow CPU voltage offset, so I simply set to -50mv. But using the software, and the task schedule method with wake up from sleep settings is also great. Especially when you are finding the stability limit and making rapid changes, or if you need to set the other CPU limits. It's a great tool.

Better to change settings in the BIOS directly, as recommended by AMD themselves and motherboard manufacturers.

On MSI board you can do it from the BIOS level, I set it to level 3 which is -30 and been working like a charm in CB23 15050 points in MT and 1500 ST.
Also from my personal exprience setting PPT to 115, EDC 75 and TDC 115, lowers temps, voltage and score stays the same.
But those you have to set in PBO2 Tuner, since in BIOS only have option to limit PPT, no other limits.

Even though this is software would you recommend enabling anything in the bios before using this method?

Hi freethy I saw another tech tuber do a test on rust on the 5800x3d and some other games and saw that the lowers where at 60 fps with a 3090 ti do you think this is because of the multi chip die and that intel is a lot better than ?

a simple -50mv offset in bios (crosshair viii impact) brought my average clocks to 4550 and hard gaming temps to low 60s with an nhu12a with arctic mx6.

Not all motherboards allow you to offset with the 5800x3D

Hmm, I tried a -75mV offset (Crosshair VII Hero). I gained -12°C but it reduced my boost frequencies by 100mhz (multiplier went from 43.25 to 42.25) while giving me higher multi-thread scores.

@@UnknownUnknown-uc5ty -75 was also lowering my clocks to 4350-4375 while gaming. try -50, was the sweet spot for me. I think our motherboards have pretty similar VRM and power delivery.
