Yeah it has a similar plot to the avengers but it’s literally retelling the story from the original rts game so you can’t really claim that adapting its own story is stealing the avengers plot simply because you’ve heard of the avengers first even though the game came out in the 90’s
Both the Avengers and Warcraft are two completely different genres. Why would Blockbuster Buster think that Warcraft was ripping off the Avengers despite them being based off of two different things?
So you never play the trilogy games? Man what did you miss, those games were AWESOME. I dare to say, that the reason the MMO was such a huge success was because the history behind them. If you find them you should at least see a lets play. You will not be disappointed
A movie should still stand on its own he's just giving the response of the average view basically. p.s. unrelated, how can there be a orc hybrid if there are no humans on they're planet?
I admit I do not know all the lore, but if I have to guess, it was a woman that during one of their battle was capture, slave and then rape. Which explain while they consider her offspring a low class. The war has been brutal like that
thanks but shouldn't this answer be in the movie. it'd be funny if one of the orcs asked that question to the green magie dude and he just paused confused how in the hell this could happen and there was never an explanation.
The story of taking aliens making a portal to a world to invade was the entire premise of Warcraft: Orcs and Humans, the game the film was based on. It predates The Avengers by nearly two decades.
I feel the need to point something out, you are assuming that the Warcraft movie is based solely on World of Warcraft. While on the surface this may be pretty cut and dry, in actuality it isn't. Before world of Warcraft, there were 3 principle games in the Warcraft series. It all started with the first installment back in the late 1980s, a little-known game called Warcraft Orcs and Humans, this game would begin the setup for the factions of WoW that were to come, along with the foundations of the player archetypes throughout series as it moved forward; after that came the second game in the series in 1994, Warcraft II: Tides of War and its expansion known as Beyond the Dark Portal in 1996, this game set up even more to the game series and helped to more firmly establish the lore of the series moving forward; then came Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos in 1998, and its expansion known as The Frozen Throne in 1999, which further established the lore and characters of the series. A few years after Warcraft III had its expansion released came World of Warcraft, the game that eclipsed all other games in the series to the point almost everyone believed it to be a stand-alone game, and not built on the foundations of 3 established games before it. Hell, nearly half the lore of World of Warcraft is the campaigns you play through in the prior Warcraft games. So I just have to say in summary, take your time doing a little more research. The Warcraft movie isn't just based on World of Warcraft, although it does seem to draw heavily from it, but all of the Warcraft games.
@@ElderGodBrandon Cinemasins believes that the Warcraft movie is a ripoff of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy even though the Warcraft franchise has a lot of movie, tv show, comic book and even video game references and tropes.
This movie depicts the First War. WoW takes place AFTER the THIRD War. Is it really that hard to make that connection? I mean, the Warcraft lore is HEAVY and extensive, dating back several of our decades. Hell, my brother got me into Warcraft and WoW when I was 11, that was back in ‘04. Yeah, I’ve been playing since Vanilla, stopped after Cataclysm, but I still follow the lore.
Wanted to see your review of this because I have mixed feelings about this movie but overall appreciate it from the standpoint of a Warcraft fan. I stopped 3:39 in (after skipping to the title card) because of what many many commenters appear to be telling you. I don't need to reiterate it I just wanted to add that I share their sentiment.
To be fair, the plot of Warcraft 1 came long before the Avengers movie. They're ret-conning quite a lot of that plot and adding a bunch of characters that didn't originally exist when the story for that game was written, but they're not copying the premise of Avengers.
Everyone's pointed out how the film isn't based on WoW, but it's worth mentioning that ERod also completely misunderstood what WoW even is. Yes, WoW does in facts have protagonists: the NPCs are the protagonists! They're the ones that have ongoing stories and the players assist in carrying those stories out. Which leads to the other misunderstanding: the players of WoW don't really create their own adventures, at least not to the degree ERod apparently thinks so. The majority of the player's time is spent playing out pre-made quests.
Erod, you are great moviegoer and film critic. But, there might have been one detail that you might have missed… Warcraft first existed as a series of real time strategy games. As a fan of the games, I didn’t really think this movie was bad. Although, I have to agree that they could have done it better. I own all of the first three Warcraft games including the expansion for the third game in the series and have played the first two on a temperamental PowerBook G3 Wallstreet with a 266 megahertz G3 processor from a PowerBook G3 PDQ and, a stock Power Mac G4 with a 450 megahertz PowerPC G4 processor running Mac OS 9.2.1. I also played Warcraft III on a PowerBook G4 12 inch and an iBook G3 Snow with classic mode installed on it. But, I find my iMac G4 to be the best suited to play that game since it has a more powerful 1.25 gigahertz PowerPC G4 processor. I’ve played these games and, I know that there are characters that are named. There is indeed a few main protagonists in the games themselves. The first one is Anduin Lothar and he appeared in the games ever since Warcraft: Orcs and Humans came out. He got killed off in the 2nd game. And, another great example is Arthas Menethil who appeared as the main protagonist in Warcraft III: Reign or Chaos. Also, Thrall makes an appearance in the movie as an orc baby and he first appeared in Warcraft: Lord of the Clans before making his video game debut in Warcraft III. Interestingly, the producers actually intended on making another movie about Thrall’s origin storyline. But, that never came to fruition. Ogrim Doomhammer is the secondary antagonist of the movie and, he’s the warchief of the Old Horde. He is one of the antagonists of the first to games. Durotan is the main antagonist of the movie and, he is the chieftain of the Frostwolf Clan. He is probably the main antagonist of the first two games as well. Good video, but a little more research would have helped. World of Warcraft is not the original Warcraft game, it’s a spin-off game of the first three games.
The movie is actually based on the RTS games. But the problem is that over the years, the series has had a ton of retcons and additions that made it way more complicated than the original. And the movie tries too hard to incorporate all the additional subplots and lore that later games crammed into the series.
As far as I know, this movie is based on the original games, not the MMO spinoff, those have actual story and actual characters in it. It's weird that you are familiar only with the MMO, since Warcraft 3 was one of the prime pro-gaming disciplines. Plus I personally think that you are way too harsh on this movie. Sure it is overbloated mess, but at least it seems to _actually_ follow the lore of the source material. Unlike every other game-based movie that was ever made. So that was worth of recognition, at least.
I mentioned this on your announcement video that this review was up on Daily Motion, but I gotta say it again...I love your reviews E-Rod, but this one was CinemaSins levels of bad. One of the biggest flaws with it was saying it's based on WoW, when it's actually based on the first Warcraft RTS, which came out long before WoW, and some of the other egregious mistakes stem from that one. You've done better, and you are better, than this.
Ah Erod you DO know that this movie doesn't take place on 'World or WarCraft' and instead its suppose be taking place BEFORE the first game of 'WarCraft'…right? The trilogy that start it all? The games that HAVE plot and story line which this movie FOLLOWS pretty nicely and explain why the actors act like the do? Including why we are suppose to not know why the war is happening in the first place? ……You do know that there were a trilogy game before the online game, right?
absolutely no research put into this review. warcraft has more lore, story, heroes, and villains than most other stories. just take down this review, its an embarrassment!
Thing about this movie is that it's based on very first Warcraft game from 1994 that was RTS. While to many Warcraft has become to mean WoW and they have either forgotten or for one reason or other or don't know it like having being too young back then or not having even been born back then there is reason why WoW is called that. It's because it takes place in same world as those first three Warcraft games that were RTSs. It's also reason why Starcraft is called that because it's Warcraft but in space. Yes, I am rather old to remember when first Warcraft was released as well as how big deal second game was and how good third game (that ironically spawned MOBA that killed RTS) is. Besides of Diablo 2, Warcraft 3 is one Blizzard game that I played most back then. Oh and maybe it's just me but I do think that Travis Fimmel who plays Anduin looked too much like his other character Ragnar from TV series Vikings.
It seems that The Blockbuster Buster has never heard of the Warcraft franchise and its massive lore which could take weeks if not months for me to explain.
Bit of a weak review outside of comparing it to the Avengers, which sorry to say as good as it is a lot of movies many that came before Avengers have a similar plot, just off the top of my head Independence Day springs to mind, I’ve actually never played a Warcraft game and I know they have plenty of lore and story admittedly because I’ve read the books, but still I think a quick Wikipedia search could’ve helped you out in that department
Warcraft was actually story based real time strategy game before it was an mmorpg. Also, i give credit to this movie being a more faithful adaptation than most game movies.
I'm neither of fan of the games nor the movie, and I can tell you without one ounce of research that the movie is based on the original games, which have a storyline. Also I've never played World of Warcraft, but I know that is has years of story that could theoretically make for an interesting movie. Not that that matters since it's based on the original games.
I know exactly what you mean. I saw A New Hope a few days ago and I was like "I don't get why people like this. I'm sorry but basing a movie on the MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic, which is a game with no protagonist was a dumb idea." Edit: I have never actually played The Old Republic so I just assumed it has no protagonist.
Doofus was not supposed to be at the triage centre, he did discover that the Fell was behind the death. He convinced Badass to follow him to the Guardian, so he didn't have to take his word for it, but the king wasn't convinced. They convinced the king to let Badass escort Doofus, even though Badass was needed to protect the castle. Did we watch the same pile of garbage? Because you're describing a different film here!
No offense but I think you're being a bit harsh. It's not that bad. It just suffers from too much exposition not enough character development. Also amorphous evil and only a plucky band of unlikely heroes isn't just an Avengers plot. It's a cliched plot that's been done before. Avengers wasn't the first to do it. It's the just most recent iteration of this idea. I for one appreciate that backstory they're talking about considering I know next to nothing about Warcraft. It's just they didn't make it organic and admittedly some characters could've been told offscreen what was going on...then again I'm sucker for rich worldbuilding movies. So take my opinion with a grain of salt. But seriously Erod it's not that bad.
Again, he is weekend by her actions. All debated movies were busted just as bad movies, but he completely ignore redeeming quality of those. Resident Evil movie series was released just after Cod Veronica, so fact that they fallow own plot is simply result of fact that there was no huge part of RE plot yet, and it wasn't good story on the first place. Movie is simply consistent with what they already established. He also completely ignore that Assassin Creed is story of modern day person known as Desmond Miles, who fallow history of his ancestors with use of machine known as Animous, in order to find alien artifact use to control humanity (created by mentioned aliens what is the reason it do work) before evil organization put they hands on it. Also movie is a prequel and whole gimmick wasn't invented for its purpose. Movie is just consistent with the games even if for people who don't know games it look dumb. This same goes here.. Warcraft plot is a adaptation of the RTS plot, not f*g WoW! As such it look cliched and has wooden characters because it literally is plot from 90's video game. All flaws he complain strain from that fact, like SPOILER she-orc is a traitor! And portal would be reopened later. He also didn't recognize Infernal what show my how much he really know about the games. That is clear pattern I presume he address during final confrontation with his enemy.
It's good to see You man, i haven't heard from You since chanellawsome curfafel. But You spieprzyłeś this. The movie have nothing to do with World of Warcraft. It's like they finaly make Star Wars Raven story and complaining, that there is no Vader. I'm sorry, but Your fanboy pass is revoke
Wow, Erod you just lost a fair bit of nerd cred on this one bud. Don't worry, you can gain it back. Just keep making videos, and double check your claims.
Wait WARCRAFT have story....you are confusing this movie is based in WORLD OF WARCRAFT which is a online game, but this film is based on "Warcraft" the FIRST 3 GAMES, which have one of the most DETAILED stories in GAME STORY, is literally the Lord of the Rings for gamers, did you even do basic research anymore? and other tiny thing....yes this movie bombs....and also have a low score in RT in the critic side....but......not in the PEOPLE SIDE (unless 77% is now consider BAD)....this movie don't suck really, isn't great but not bad, so you are busting a film that actually don't deserve to be busted.....you really don't change.
Sad to say this but it's by far you worst review. It's obvious that you went in with the idea to hate the movie and it shows Even the barest minimum of research would show that more than half the things you say are flat out wrong. From this being based on the MMO (It isn't) to the story being non existent with no characters (Dozens of books and comics, 4 games with a dozen combined expansions and at least 20 characters that could carry their own movie if not series) to this being a ripoff of Avengers even though the story was written more than 20 years before the marvel movie. And those are just the most obvious ones. I know that you don't have the time and founds that you once had, but this is all stuff that you could find by doing a 5 min search on wikipedia, so the only possible conclusion is that you just didn't want to try. And all of that has nothing to do on wheter or not you liked the movie, i liked it but i understand it's not for everybody and i respect their opinion, as long as they don't try to justify that with such glaringly flawed arguments. It's just sad... hope this was just an isoled case and you reviews will return to you usual quality.
I’ve only played Warcraft 3 when I was at a video game design summer camp during my teenager years, and I have a full understanding of the amount of lore this franchise has.
The movie was a little cool, to a degree. But after watching the video series, Lords of War, based around the Warlords of Draenor game. I felt that the movie didn't do the Orc warriors that good of justice. Especially Durotan (On a sidenote; wonder what ERod thought about Infinity War, Ducktales Season One and Teen Titans Go to the Movies)
I know this is years late, but I think he could’ve added to the ‘wrong kind of golem’ part. Erod: …who is making a golem. *shows Gollum* Erod: No, I mean a golem. *shows the Pokémon, Golem* Erod: NO, it’s… And then proceed with the explanation.
Look Erod I mostly love your other stuff man but I'm sorry this review literally fails on every level in terms of your lack of research and knowledge of Warcraft in general, the fact you say the plot rips off Avengers even though this plot has been done in so many other movies way before Avengers and the fact that you've been so harsh on this movie because of these reasons so quick lesson here Erod "Don't review a movie adaptation If you know nothing about the source material"
The Warcraft series has a lot of lore that most people wouldn’t understand. So let me explain it. Apparently there’s an army of intergalactic demons known as the Burning Legion, led by the fallen Titan Sargares. The Burning Legion has consumed several worlds, starting with the Planet of Argus, home to the space goat people known as the Draenei, after they were betrayed by two of their leaders, Kil’Jaden and Archimonde. The Draenei settled on the planet of Draenor, home to the Orcs and the two races had some neutral respect for one another. But one day, Gul’dan, an Orc who was kicked out by his clan for his deformity tried to commune with the four elements, but they rejected him. It was then that Kil’jaden gave Gul’dan demonic powers that he used to wipe out the clan that bullied him and throw the world into chaos. Gul’dan blamed these incidents on the Draenei and the Orcs banded together and formed the horde in the means of wiping out the Draenei. A few Draenei, led by the Prophet Velen escaped Draenor and fled to Azeroth. But the more Gul’dan used his demonic magic, the more Draenor began to rot, so the Horse decided to invade the Planet Azeroth, home to Humans, High/Night Elves, Bronzebeard/Wild Hammer/Dark Iron Dwarves, Trolls, a race of panda people named the Pandaren, A race of cow people named the Tauren, Goblins, Centaur, Kobolds, Harpies and the Murlocks, a race of fish people. The horde believes that Azeroth has enough resources to keep their race from dying while Gul’dan has his own plans. He wants to find the Tomb of Sargares within the Broken Isle for more power. And speaking of which, let me explain some more lore. 10,000 years ago, the Night Elves ruled all of Azeroth after crushing the Troll Empire and established their own Empire of arcane knowledge led by Queen Azarha. The Burning Legion was attracted by an elite group of Night Elven Nobles called rue Highborne using their arcane power. Seduced by the power of the Burning Legion, Queen Azarha used the Well of Eternity, the source of all arcane power, as a gate way for the demons which sparked the War of the Ancients. The Night Elven resistance who fought against the demons was led by the Druid Malfurion, his wife Tysrande and his brother Illidan, who was in love with Tysrande. Illidan basically sided with the demons as a means of gaining more power to defeat them but Sargares burned his golden eyes, which gave him the powers of a demon, making him the First Demon Hunter. Malfurion realized that the demons were popping out of the Well of Eternity and so he ordered his archers to destroy the Well, creating an explosion that split Azeroth into four continents. Kalimdor in the west, the Eastern Kingdoms in the East, Northrend in the North and Pandaria in the South. After the war, Queen Azarha and her fellow High Bourne were turned into the Naga, a race of serpent people, after she came in contact with an Old God. Illidan used some waters from the Well of Eternity to make another well in Ashenvale, but Malfurion imprisoned for 10,000 years because of this. Some of the High Bourne who weren’t with their queen were going through magic withdrawal after Malfurion banned the use of Arcane magic. So the High Bourne left with some of the waters of the Well of Eternity, sailed to the Eastern Kingdoms and created the Sun Well. The Sun Well changed the High Bournes’ appearance from having purple skin to having fair skin and they renamed themselves as the High Elves. As for Medivh, he was the son of a Guardian, a powerful mage who has all of the magic from the Mages of the City State of Dalaran. Hundreds of Years ago, Sargares sent an avatar of himself to Azeroth which caught the attention of Medivh’s mother Aegwyn. She fought the Avatar within Northrend and slew it, but little did she know that the soul of the avatar latched itself on to Aegwyn and when she gave birth to Medivh, Sargares’ soul transferred into him as well as Aegwyn’s Guardian Powers. The remains of the Avatar were placed in a Night Elven temple which was later corrupted into the Tomb of Sargares.
See here's the thing, this movie is NOT based on World of Warcraft... It's based on WARCRAFT, specifically the story/plot of Warcraft 1 and 2 with some alterations to tie it into World of Warcraft.
I forgot what happened in that movie the second I finished it. As a guy who is not familiar with the lore, couldn't follow it at all, it was like a season of the show condensed to 90 minutes or something,
Well, in all fairness there were a few Warcraft games before World of Warcraft came to be. This seems to KINDA follow the plot of the original game. All things being equal, I think that if a credible, competent director with a good casting director signed on to some of these video game movies, they'd be A LOT better.
i didnt like the film, but i loved the work and love put into it. everyone that worked on this movie was an avid blizzard fan. the lead sfx guy and one of the actors were in top teir competitive raiding guilds!
I liked this movie, I never played the games, I have them but never played them, I liked the characters of this movie, you had cool effects and great fights. Badass wars going on during the final fight. I don't get the hate for this and Super mario bro's. I rather watch this and Mario brothers. Resident Evil films are timewasters at best. But WOW is great to me. I respect others opinions. You learn alittle bit about the characters. I think it should have gone on maybe a few extra minutes, but overall I loved the ending because it sets up a sequel but sadly due to it getting panned by alot of critics and some fans it may not have a sequel. I think it deserves another movie. The director and writer did a good job on the movie.
honestly, don't get you people. why do you keep asking for reviews of norm of the north and the emoji movie? those movies are boring and considered bad so unanimously, that i've been skipping several reviewers', that i follow, videos at the time they were being screened. it's ok, if you would enjoy it, but what can one even still say about them, that would be interesting is beyond me.
If these orcs are just invading the human world how is there a half-orc lady? Did they invade another human world before? Is she from another world where humans and different orcs co-exist?
If we can have a Warcraft movie does that mean we can have a Warhammer 40k movie? It may be as bad as this film but at least it would be cool to see a Space Marine slice an orc in half with a chainsword.
Yea uh Guardian is crappy in Supergirl and Supergirl is now crappy, stop criticizing this movie cause it has CGI fest, wen Avengers IW is also a cgi fest.
Sorry to be that guy but you are talking about World of Warcraft but the movie is about Warcraft witch does have a protagonist. You got mistake games here E-Rod
I think a core problem with the film was that they went out of their way to adapt the story from the first game... Loosely. A game that was more of an experiment in top down RTS more then anything else with the story acting as fluff to justify the in-game mechanics. They would have been better off adapting Rise of the Horde which has a central figure and a more adaptable three part narrative. Which looks like what they plan to do one some level with the sequel..... Which is already throwing away 90% of the pathos if Thrall was adopted by a human family rather then raised as a slave by a human lord.
The fact you think this is based off the MMO and not the RTS is immediately your first mistake. I don't know you, but you look like someone that was born somewhere in the 90's and should know of the RTS games at least. A little bit of research is not hard. Second, because this is based off of the RTS games, which had protagonists, you're wrong again. As for your "copied Avengers" thing. That plot point isn't new, with the whole someone making something to take over another world, and it wasn't new when the Avengers did it. The fact that this story is based off of one in the 90's that would mean the Avengers copied things far more than this movie. I could go on about all the other things you got wrong, but there's no point about smaller details. Really I just have to say that this movie isn't great, it's probably not even good, but it's certainly not terrible. There are far worse video game movies and really none better, but instead many on par with it, which isn't saying much. The biggest issue is that I don't know how you didn't do your research for even the most basic parts of this, that's the biggest thing.
Everyone as far down as I read said that this is based off the RTS Warcraft, not WoW, so Ima just say that I always thought WoW is overrated as fuck. While there are games it's notably better than, like Skyrim... Not that it's hard to be at least better than Skyrim... It really is a game that you notice pretty quickly isn't very well-made on any tech nor narrative level if you aren't on a bandwagon. Which is something it shares with Elder Scrolls.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warcraft:_The_Last_Guardian The film is actually based on the book from 2002 that tells the story of what happened before and during Warcraft 1. There are quite a few changes, but overall it is quite faithful. So no research, plus the assertion that there is no story in WOW (try stopping to read quest text and writings in the game and you'll find the story) makes this a very poor review. I used to really enjoy watching you, but the constant uploading of 10-second adverts for your videos, plus the lower quality of reviews recently, and how terrible this review is has lead me to unsubscribe. I've been watching since you first started on Channel Awesome.
To be honest, I'm kind of sad that this movie won't have any sequels. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't good. There is very little about this movie that will have Redemption. But, I thought the story had potential. Would have liked to have seen what would have happened with the sequels and how the story could have progressed and Nae original and hopefully good direction. But I'm afraid I don't think that will ever come.
is no one else going to bring up the failed attempts to have our male leads be sexually attracted to the half-orc female in this film? no? Fine, I will; I found the scenes where the human males wanting to mate with her really disturbing and out of place since this movie is so much more focused on showing off cool scenes/FX from the game series it came from rather than presenting a more coherent story for general audiences to follow. also, for those who defended this film and said "WAIT FOR THE DIRECTOR'S CUT!" when the film first dropped in theaters 2 yrs ago, I ask you this "Where is your precious uncut version now?"
Seriously, ERod, I love you, but please, DO YOUR GOD DAMNED RESEARCH!!! Do you NOT listen to your comments section? Well, you must, because you stopped doing live reviews, but now, you have to start doing your research when reviewing bad films!!
@@viktorriquelme3735 Go back and watch his old reviews. They are full of mistakes that a quick Wikipedia search could fix. In his Days of Future Past review, this "comic book fanboy" apparently didn't know the original storyline was published a DECADE before the character Bishop was created.
i don't agree with the start if you play warcraft have enof story for 5 movies my favorite is Arthas warning for spoilers of the games! ruclips.net/video/99jXY7oCmz4/видео.html but this movie is the orks story ruclips.net/video/Ei14PlrMmsE/видео.html sadly i can't find the real one but there is 3 storylines humans, orcs and elf but i do agree on i like a movie abut Arthas instead or the elves but as a fan of the old warcraft games, this movie is beautiful and have a lot of hidden things for the fans so if you really wanna be able to enjoy the movie play the game and see the cinematics i bet you be surprised i think you like this ruclips.net/video/RTBE6LHex-4/видео.html this ruclips.net/video/T5-KeKoYGPs/видео.html and my personal favorite ruclips.net/video/BCr7y4SLhck/видео.html
(after hearing your opening statement) Oh FUCK OFF, Warcraft has no intricate story to tell??? Dude, each game told the events of a massive war, where there was good and bad people on both the Alliance and the Horde and with the MMORPG each zone tell a small part of a grand story. Also each expansion usually focuses on select few characters that are the focus on many events while having A TON of memorable smaller characters, to the point that even JOKE characters have become fan favorites (Hi Harrison Jones). I know you are more a movie buff than a gamer, but your opening statement told me you knew nothing of the game and have no right to claim that "it is wrong". I know the movie is not a master piece, but I consider it one of the few exceptions of the videogame movie curse.
This are all the things you got wrong or nickpicked: 1- That opening scene was a reference to the opening of Warcraft 3, the biggest of the original 3. 2- The tusk to no bother the orc speak since their mouths are so big, that there is enough lip in between the tusk to form regular speach manners (also they arent speaking english, but orcish) 3- They clearly state that Draenor is dying, if they stay on that planet, they will all perish. 4- Garona is not half-human........... kinda hard being half of a species that does NOT excist on that planet. 5- So you complain that Garona makes you see the CGI as horrible... even though you stated that it was amaizing before... of course 6- ... cause Lothar, Khadgar are so hard to say. 7- Khadgar discovers the use of fel magic, the most dangerous form of power in that universe... yeah, that was quite useless 8- And for those of you that do not know the story of Wow, if you skipped those scenes you would not know the stakes of those 3 human characters, great edit there man. 9- Oh yeah, powerfull spells are all instant cast right? 10- they have 2 whole scenes focusing on WHY she helps them. 11- that is the weakest excuse you could come for an avengers joke. 12- It was a trap, but one that befell the good orcs as well, context matters. 13- Medivh corruption is clearly stated throught the movie, because of his use of fel magic... again quite the useless thing Khadgar discovered back there is it? 14- Consider that Medivh dies for 2 main causes, an INFERNAL (not a Golem) falling on him plus an overuse of fell magic. 15- Yeah, cause a noble sacrife can predict the raise of new enemies, betrayals, corruption of allies 2 whole new wars and the raise of so many forces bend on destroying the world that all the 80´s series are left in shock. 16- Thrall is one of the best stories in the whole series, and your so called "family" will NOT be a good chapter on his book. 17- Thanks to the asian movie fans, we are guaranteed at least 1 more movie, so fuck your killing joke.
I think Warcraft is the only movie where the fans of the original material, instead of crying out about the bastardization of their favorite material, lie to themselves and everyone around them and accept mediocrity and a borefest in movie form. Did Erod make a bunch of mistakes in his review leaving it a little barebones and underresearched? Sure. Does that mean that Warcraft is a good movie? Not really. I think lessons are to be learned from this review but let us not draw false conclusions from this fact either.
Oh, FFS, of all the pretentious... Name me one instance where I incorrectly stated that this movie is based on WoW and not Warcraft: Orcs and Humans. I'll bunker up, it's gonna be a long while...
But that the movie is not _great_ is not a reason for doing half-assed research on it. Especially from a reviewer that prides himself for being a fanboy and a nerd who always have rather deep knowledge about the stuff he's reviewing.
Once again, I explicitly stated that the research was sloppy. The feeling is like nobody's actually reading what they're replying to and just closing their eyes and ears and trying to yell really loudly -_- I thought you guys were a fan of a strategy game?
@Darth Biomech To be honest whole point of this arc is that she weaken E-Rod by forcing him to bust movies what aren't good but not deserve of that. Shamefully bandwagoners on they high horse miss that point.
are you speaking to me? because i didnt say it was based on wow. He also said wow had no intricate stories or main protagonists, which as a fan of wow i know thats dead fucking wrong.
How ignorant of you. I'm gonna dislike this video. You compare the movie with the game called World of Warcraft but it seems that you grew up under a rock, in an amish family. Never played Warcraft 3? It's a classic. Warcraft has a vast story with different characters and things that are together. Using the Warcraft stories alone can make great movie, movies or even tv series. It's not just a game bro. Or to quote MatPat "It's all about the LOOOOOOOORRRRREEEEEE"
Repeat after me: "I will conduct research of a movie I review."
Even wikipedia tells you this was based of Warcraft and not World of Warcraft...
It's actually based off the rts version. Not the MMO.
What do you expect from a guy who barely does any research when reviewing a bad movie?
A Golem wouldn't sound like Gollum if you spelled it correctly.
I think this movie was based on the Warcraft strategy game i think
The Warcraft movie isn't just based on World of Warcraft, although it does seem to draw heavily from it, but all of the Warcraft games.
thank you! everyone hates this movie cuz they think its wow based, but its really based on Warcraft 1 through 3
And WoW does have tons of story and lore that could be adapted film.
@@ElderGodBrandon Cinemasins believes that the Warcraft movie is a ripoff of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy even though the Warcraft franchise has a lot of movie, tv show, comic book and even video game references and tropes.
Everyone else is complaining about the lack of research on his part... I'm just annoyed that he mispronounced "golem." It's "GOH-lem," not "GALL-um."
Am I too late to say RTS? Did like 50 people already say it?
This movie depicts the First War. WoW takes place AFTER the THIRD War. Is it really that hard to make that connection? I mean, the Warcraft lore is HEAVY and extensive, dating back several of our decades. Hell, my brother got me into Warcraft and WoW when I was 11, that was back in ‘04. Yeah, I’ve been playing since Vanilla, stopped after Cataclysm, but I still follow the lore.
Actually this movie is based on the original Warcraft game the RTS game
Which has a lot of lore that could take us weeks if not months to go over.
@@samflood5631 that's true.
He did a similar thing in his Jumper review as he believe the Jumpers are ripping off Nightcrawler and the whole Mutant hunting agenda.
As far as video game movies go, this movie was pretty good!
Sonic broke the video game curse
I never played the game personally really really enjoyed the
movie
The movie is actually based on the RTS games. But the problem is that over the years, the series has had a ton of retcons and additions that made it way more complicated than the original. And the movie tries too hard to incorporate all the additional subplots and lore that later games crammed into the series.
So?
Actually a lot of this story is based on the original RTS games that eventually spawned the renowned MMO.
I in fact consider as one of best game adaptations ever made..
Dang, man, you barely even talked about Durotan. You didn't even mention his death.
This is based off of The first World Of Warcraft Game:Humans vs Orcs
Well it was based on the 1st Warcraft game, that came out in the 90s
Ah Erod you DO know that this movie doesn't take place on 'World or WarCraft' and instead its suppose be taking place BEFORE the first game of 'WarCraft'…right? The trilogy that start it all? The games that HAVE plot and story line which this movie FOLLOWS pretty nicely and explain why the actors act like the do? Including why we are suppose to not know why the war is happening in the first place?
……You do know that there were a trilogy game before the online game, right?
i dont think erod plays pc games.
+Joseph Gillespie He doesn't do much research either it seems.
@@Dragoncurse4yes, he doesn't need to be a gamer or an expert on the franchise, he just needs to put in even little research on the topic.
absolutely no research put into this review. warcraft has more lore, story, heroes, and villains than most other stories. just take down this review, its an embarrassment!
if you didn't like it that's all you had to say
he can handle criticism, whether its harsh or not. he's not a child.
Andre Cole he is a critic, he should be able to take criticism
LEROY JENKINS!!!!!!!!!!!
Also he mistake World of Warcraft with Warcraft they are different games and Warcraft definitely poor research here
Thing about this movie is that it's based on very first Warcraft game from 1994 that was RTS.
Really? No correction to your review? You are making a fool of yourself here.
It seems that The Blockbuster Buster has never heard of the Warcraft franchise and its massive lore which could take weeks if not months for me to explain.
I guess if we get a StarCraft movie, Erod would review it without making a research of the RTS games.
To be honest it may be not clear to some that there were games before WoW..
Erod I really like your videos but in this one It's very clear that you did very little research on the Warcraft franchise.
I know exactly what you mean. I saw A New Hope a few days ago and I was like "I don't get why people like this. I'm sorry but basing a movie on the MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic, which is a game with no protagonist was a dumb idea."
Edit: I have never actually played The Old Republic so I just assumed it has no protagonist.
Technically, Warcraft (not World of) is an RTS game :P
In all fairness, there were 3 Warcraft Games before World Of Warcraft. I was hoping they might be doing Warcraft II. THAT could have actually worked.
So this is straight up his worst video ever, right? Way to piss off an entire fandom.
If people didn't notice the plot arc is that he is tricked to bust not entirely bad movies.
The plot arc is just an excuse to bust movies, icing on the top of a review.
...Or at least, it should be.
Ah okay. Thanks for the explanation.
2&half minutes in, and ERod shows that he hasn't done his homework.
2/10 - I am dissapoint.
Wow, aleś sprytnie zamaskował brzydkie słowo...
Don’t forget the massive amount of lore this franchise has.
Um, is Erod doing ok? it's been a month since his last review and I haven't heard anything about him releasing other videos.
I actually like this movie. The cgi is decent and it looks like the game. I thought that the special effects were good, and the acting was good.
Sad to say this but it's by far you worst review.
It's obvious that you went in with the idea to hate the movie and it shows
Even the barest minimum of research would show that more than half the things you say are flat out wrong.
Is he making it for fun or he makes money? Because I see that he makes little to no views
Especially Durotan
(On a sidenote; wonder what ERod thought about Infinity War, Ducktales Season One and Teen Titans Go to the Movies)
I know this is years late, but I think he could’ve added to the ‘wrong kind of golem’ part.
Erod: …who is making a golem.
*shows Gollum*
Erod: No, I mean a golem.
*shows the Pokémon, Golem*
Erod: NO, it’s…
And then proceed with the explanation.
I have heard a lot of reviewers say that it is based on WOW so BB is forgiven. But come one all you reviewers just do a bit of research!
Like all men, i reached for my balls when that orc got his nether regions sliced by that sword.
The battle for Nerdom is over people. ERod possesses a Samurai Jack Katana!
That movie jot Jacked! XD
See here's the thing, this movie is NOT based on World of Warcraft...
It's based on WARCRAFT, specifically the story/plot of Warcraft 1 and 2 with some alterations to tie it into World of Warcraft.
Did he do a review for Hotel Transylvania 2?
Fun fact the movie is based on Warcraft aka the rts game not mmo
Im shamed we didnt hear erod or this movie say LEROOOOOOOYYYYYYY JENNNKKKKIIIINNNNNNNS
I enjoyed the film despite it's noticeable flaws. Hope the sequel is fixed up
i didnt like the film, but i loved the work and love put into it. everyone that worked on this movie was an avid blizzard fan. the lead sfx guy and one of the actors were in top teir competitive raiding guilds!
wasn't this film based on Warcraft 1-3 not world of warcraft?
yep, but ERod didn't made a little reseach about the game was based, and he only say it was based on WOW
LEROY JENKINS
I taught the warcraft movie is base on the 1st game of the series not world of warcraft?
Well Durotan the orc was from WOW, but not the movie
So the orcs have just arrived on Azeroth from a world with no humans. How is there an adult half-orc?
Because people responsible for that did travel between words beforehand.
Could you please bust the Dark Tower, The Emjoi Movie and Norm of the North
honestly, don't get you people. why do you keep asking for reviews of norm of the north and the emoji movie? those movies are boring and considered bad so unanimously, that i've been skipping several reviewers', that i follow, videos at the time they were being screened. it's ok, if you would enjoy it, but what can one even still say about them, that would be interesting is beyond me.
I need to catch up on the Arrowverse, don't I.
If these orcs are just invading the human world how is there a half-orc lady? Did they invade another human world before? Is she from another world where humans and different orcs co-exist?
review season 1 of DuckTales and then the rest of the series
If we can have a Warcraft movie does that mean we can have a Warhammer 40k movie? It may be as bad as this film but at least it would be cool to see a Space Marine slice an orc in half with a chainsword.
I have the exact same sonic screwdriver.
LEROOOOOOY JENNKKKKINS
Fyi, Katana should be edge up on your belt.
Wait Loki is Not a wizard He's The God Of Mischief
I love WoW i can understand what your getting at but WoW is close to my heart
Has anyone mentioned the lore mistake he made yet?
Everyone as far down as I read said that this is based off the RTS Warcraft, not WoW, so Ima just say that I always thought WoW is overrated as fuck. While there are games it's notably better than, like Skyrim... Not that it's hard to be at least better than Skyrim... It really is a game that you notice pretty quickly isn't very well-made on any tech nor narrative level if you aren't on a bandwagon. Which is something it shares with Elder Scrolls.
Can anybody imagine if Hot a Meagman live action 🎬 Who knows maybe Could Be good
I actually like this movie.
QUE?! A NEW BLOCKBUSTER BUSTER VID!!! WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED!!!
Hi production quality, very bad but cheesy acting must be another blockbuster buster review, I'm so HAPPY!😊
I like Warcraft
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warcraft:_The_Last_Guardian
The film is actually based on the book from 2002 that tells the story of what happened before and during Warcraft 1.
But I'm afraid I don't think that will ever come.
ok, I love your stuff... but stop making videogame movie reviews... make content out of what you like and love. Videogames are clearly not your thing!
is no one else going to bring up the failed attempts to have our male leads be sexually attracted to the half-orc female in this film?
Along side with the NC, and Erod Deserves a couple f-ups videos
It's like ERod doesn't want to admit he makes mistakes, just like modern NC.
@@viktorriquelme3735 Go back and watch his old reviews. They are full of mistakes that a quick Wikipedia search could fix. In his Days of Future Past review, this "comic book fanboy" apparently didn't know the original storyline was published a DECADE before the character Bishop was created.

i don't agree with the start if you play warcraft have enof story for 5 movies my favorite is Arthas warning for spoilers of the games! ruclips.net/video/99jXY7oCmz4/видео.html
but this movie is the orks story ruclips.net/video/Ei14PlrMmsE/видео.html sadly i can't find the real one but there is 3 storylines humans, orcs and elf but i do agree on i like a movie abut Arthas instead or the elves
but as a fan of the old warcraft games, this movie is beautiful and have a lot of hidden things for the fans so if you really wanna be able to enjoy the movie play the game and see the cinematics i bet you be surprised i think you like this ruclips.net/video/RTBE6LHex-4/видео.html this ruclips.net/video/T5-KeKoYGPs/видео.html and my personal favorite ruclips.net/video/BCr7y4SLhck/видео.html
(after hearing your opening statement)
Oh FUCK OFF, Warcraft has no intricate story to tell???
This are all the things you got wrong or nickpicked:
1- That opening scene was a reference to the opening of Warcraft 3, the biggest of the original 3.
2- The tusk to no bother the orc speak since their mouths are so big, that there is enough lip in between the tusk to form regular speach manners (also they arent speaking english, but orcish)
3- They clearly state that Draenor is dying, if they stay on that planet, they will all perish.
4- Garona is not half-human........... kinda hard being half of a species that does NOT excist on that planet.
5- So you complain that Garona makes you see the CGI as horrible... even though you stated that it was amaizing before... of course
6- ... cause Lothar, Khadgar are so hard to say.
7- Khadgar discovers the use of fel magic, the most dangerous form of power in that universe... yeah, that was quite useless
8- And for those of you that do not know the story of Wow, if you skipped those scenes you would not know the stakes of those 3 human characters, great edit there man.
I still like your show Erod, but Warcraft is my favorite series, and you went so wrong here that I could not overlook it.
Great vid 😉
Nice
I think Warcraft is the only movie where the fans of the original material, instead of crying out about the bastardization of their favorite material, lie to themselves and everyone around them and accept mediocrity and a borefest in movie form.
Did Erod make a bunch of mistakes in his review leaving it a little barebones and underresearched? Sure. Does that mean that Warcraft is a good movie? Not really. I think lessons are to be learned from this review but let us not draw false conclusions from this fact either.
You do known that it is based on RTS games not WoW? Also no one ever said it is a good movie, only a good adaptation.
The feeling is like nobody's actually reading what they're replying to and just closing their eyes and ears and trying to yell really loudly -_-
I thought you guys were a fan of a strategy game?
@Darth Biomech
To be honest whole point of this arc is that she weaken E-Rod by forcing him to bust movies what aren't good but not deserve of that. Shamefully bandwagoners on they high horse miss that point.
i hate this movie so much as a fan of the warcraft universe
as a fan of the warcraft universe, you would hate this review even more because erod says it has no intricate stories and main heroes.
So as a fan you don't know that it wasn't based on WoW? How usual 0_0
are you speaking to me? because i didnt say it was based on wow.
