My Christian grade school closed 3 years after this, and many others after that, so John was right in that membership numbers went down. In fact The Phrase" Christian America" isn't used anymore. Perhaps an all-accepting g_d has enfolded the Beatles with love, & accepts all, a non-judgemental entity, not just Christian, but every faith & non-faith.
This is my favorite era of the Beatles. The albums that follow are still great, and arguably of their best, but the way that they were all still so tight at this time was amazing. After this, Revolver, Brians death, and their hiatus, I feel like things did start to fray as far as their collaborations went.

I'll never understand the whole obsession with the Beatles breaking up. its strange and amazing how four guys making music could cause such a revolution
I don't think they caused it, rather they personified the revolution and led it. The 60s was a cultural metamorphosis
He just meant that people were paying more attention to the Beatles than to Jesus Christ which was probably true.
Heartening how steadfastly Paul and George stood by John and rightly pointed out every chance they got that the people behind the furor over John's remarks were mostly idiots and bigots. Dig John's icy contempt, looking directly at the camera: "We've all got our rights, you know." (16:36). Also, can I just say, the fans from Long Island are insanely cute. (16:54)
Icy contempt indeed! God,he was SO fucking cool!😎😎😎😎
"Harold"
@@jamesvargas640 Yeah, that always intrigued me. Had Harold Wilson criticized John during the controversy?
@@mortensenegbert6619 glad you pointed that out as I wondered if John was referring to mr Wilson and something he had said
My Christian grade school closed 3 years after this, and many others after that, so John was right in that membership numbers went down. In fact The Phrase" Christian America" isn't used anymore. For the first time about half the country does not identify as a Christian. Altho as a Christian I can say God and His Word is alive and well.
That’s all because Paul was killed a few months after these interviews
@@StewartCormackMusic Ritually sacrificed and Billy brought in
@@PaulFormentos was it not because he wanted to make an anti Vietnam war film?
God bless him forever. He was terribly misunderstood. What they did to John, they've tried to do to Britney and Madonna. Media can either build you up or destroy you.
They intimidated and haunted John his entire life after this.
May you rest in peace now John, we understand you.
This video compilation is a gift. Thanks for sharing. It is easy to see why they were soon done with touring.
Love their talent and wit ❤️❤️
That reporter was really trying to get the kids to bash the Beatles and say they are on their way out. Lenard Harris didn’t have a clue what he was talking about.
They were sooooo cool!
Great work tim! You really parsed this together nicely. It's great watching these very young guys handling this incredible fame with such Savoir Faire.
Just love this
George is pure joy 🙏
“We’re just trying to move our music in a forward direction.” Paul
Rest in peace, Brian.
John is just so in control of this situation. He really was intellectually above the press. For a 26 year old man, that's quite a thing with world's press in front of you. He alleviated so much of that pressure from the rest of the band. imo, Paul never said word worth listening to after the Beatles. Too guarded. Having John next to him made him a different person.
They were tough dudes and had been through alot. Theres a clip in a limo of Lennon and Bob Dylan in the morning after a party and Dylan is all hungover and really sick and John is totally fine and ready to go again. Heard he could go for days, he was just a very driven, charismatic guy
Vice Versa!
8:21 I LOVE THIS!
Paul had the best answer in this whole interview about the prostitutes and lesbians
Brian loved John. I think we all know this. Great manager.
...and George. Holly heck, this is beautiful.
Peace and love. Keep that in your heart.
“Did you know that, John? You created a furor?” Cheeky Paul 😂😂😂
Leonard Harris, the interviewer at Shea Stadium, later plated Senator Palantine in the 1976 film "Taxi Driver."
They only band you’ll hear them talk about how many people DIDNT show up
Love these guys
OMG!! John was asked "What did you think of the boys that followed you from the airport?" And John does the hand "We didn't notice them." LOLLLL Omg, nowadays he'd be cancelled LOL
like the KKK and Cristian extremists tried to cancel John?
@@johnmarr5316 Yup. Nobody has tolerance. Everything is extreme. They recognized it. As soon as it turns religious it gets all racial or hateful. People haven't evolved. Now the SJW's keep you from speaking freely too.
And, the Eleanor Rigby answer!
Such simpler times. Shame that it’s changed for the worse.
Love the Beatles
8:42 la forma en la que George seguía preguntando "sí? sí?" pqbdlwiff tan tierno!!!
Even he said "no" so cutely...
George said "Len Barry". "You can't sit down" - The Dovells. Great song!!
RIP David Crosby 36:06
And bring The Beatles they then stopped playing live and made the best, most influential record ever: Revolver. And that was followed by Sgt Pepper's.
preceded by Rubber Soul, rather breathtaking streak
@@ustheserfs and help was even a baby precursor to rubber soul and the beginning of variation to their music imo
Near the end of this presentation, the Beatles are in front of a large Revolver display. They were on their last tour in the U.S. They wrote and recorded Revolver during the touring period which is amazing. When they quit touring, they then recorded Sgt. Pepper.
David Crosby hanging out in the background between Paul and George
Reporter: Honestly don’t you think The Beatles are going out of style?
Tween girl: No, they’ll NEVER go out of style.
From the mouths of babes
The wisdom.
It’s a shame our boys had to endure all that shite from the U.S. press. Serious stress
Brian Epstein seemed like such a classy gentleman. He was absolutely critical to their success, but he also had a very sad (and short) life.
Yes my friend he was indeed very critical to their breakthrough from Liverpool to London and to the world in 62/63/64, and he was an honest man too ( very unlike the carnie so called Colonel Tom Parker who managed Elvis Presley) from then on I think any competent professional could have managed them but the issue when you're that big is then ~ who do you trust?
8:42 the way george replied softly "yes, yes"
You have got too think the Beatles refused to segregate the stadium for there concerts. No wonder those States kicked a fuss up about John's remarks . Especially the KKK
James Paul McCartney died in car crash on September 11 1966 and was replaced by William (Billy). This is the truth no matter what!
I'll never understand the whole obsession with the Beatles breaking up. They gave us so many great albums and songs it only makes sense being they could all write, play and sing so well they would not need to be trapped in the Beatles anymore. When they first started out they were closer then any band I can think of but after so many years you want a more normal family life and a band comes second.
I think it's because other bands broke up only when the lead died (Queens) or are still trying to keep it going 50 years later (rolling stones). I think they might have made another album together later on, had John Lennon not been killed...
The only time you’ll see David Crosby shy
Bless Brian ,he loved those boys, and believed in them
I would do ANYTHING to be in one of those empty seats
John was more big balls than Paul, it's notorious when Paul is asked about Vietnam and he did a tangent answer while John were directly to the core.
@@tomiviitanen9099 yes..it is.
Reporters pushing the idea that the Beatles were on the wane. Little did thet know Sgt Pepper was just months away.
Damn!
That John was a smart devil.💜
16:23 RINGO SÓLO SONRÍE QUE ME MUERO DE AMOOOOOOR
21.03 Leonard Harris just did not know that the "Sgt Peppers Album" was just a short time away !!! I wonder how his interviews would have sounded then ?
At 36:00 - David Crosby? "Dave from the Byrds"?
