I think of Lennon would not have been killed they would have eventually gotten together... Really sad that everything turned out the way it did, but still grateful for all the music. These guys were truly a gift to us all. I love Ringo's honesty and sense of humor...... you can see that all the fame and fortune never really went to his head he seems to have stayed grounded similar to George
Ringo, the man that helped change rock drumming from standard rock N' roll to artful classic rock drumming. Yes, there were other drummer later, but Ringo was the first to use a tom tom, floor, snare & bass drumming that resembles a drum section in a classical orchestra. Listen to "Day in the Life", Ringo's drumming and the production around the sound of his drumset, made it sound huge, cavernous and deep! He is the first drummer rock star, in every sense of the word...Starr! Long shine the Starr!
Really enjoyed this interview. Lots of insights and indepth information on Ringo's childhood and growing up which was obviously tough. Despite his early ill health I love it when Ringo says he's gonna live to 87. Nearly there now, and I hope he's around for many more years to come.
Just read Elliot's memoir about talking with Yoko and John on the telephone evey day in the 70s.He was a radio and television interviewer. And Ringo was reading groud breaking sci-fi at this time.
Listen to an English child who only attended school 5-years. He speaks better than most U.S. high-school graduates or college graduates for that matter.
Ringo reminds me so much of John. In Interviews. Witty, interesting., funny, he’s the closest as John to telling stories. And I could listen to John for hours I also could listen to Ringo for hours thank you.! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'VE ONLY JUST NOTICED, THIS IS 1976. I THOUGHT HE SOUNDED YOUNG AND STRONG-VOICED. FANTASTIC DETAILED RECORD , OF HIS LIFE, AND EARLY EXPERIENCES, MUSICALLY.
I would like to hear Ringo talk about the intelligence and talent of each of the Beatles. It is absolutely incredible that 4 musical geniuses emerge from the same generation in a small English city.
I remember the plastic guitar broaches, about 3” long, each with a stick on picture of one of the Fab Four when I was 5 or 6 in 1963. The only radio program i heard was on a Saturday morning between 9 and 10 am - Junior Choice or something- and they always played a Beatles song about 9.50 after they’d played Burl Ives or Danny Kaye comedy songs, Frankie Howerd, How much is that doggie in the window etc. I had no idea how old some of those records were! My brother had Help! and Rubber Soul I played them constantly in the ‘60’s. I thought of myself as a Beatles fan - but I guess almost everyone was! Nevertheless I have only seen or heard a few programs about them as I’m more interested in the music but this interview was a revelation to me. I can’t say I was bothered about Ringo and his music but after listening to this interview I have completely changed my mind and I can understand why George and the others wanted him in the group.
When you do the Beatles tour in Liverpool that takes you to the childhood homes of all four of them, it's abundantly clear that Ringo grew up in the poorest working class part, and it's all too easy to picture everything he describes here about being in gangs, with guys putting razor blades under their lapels. Heard an interview with Lemmy Kilmister lately who said that The Stones were just "playing dress-up" pretending to be hard, The Beatles grew up in an actual "hard" city, and were the real deal in comparison.
He inspired a world of drummers , But nobody was able to stop the Beatles from breaking up. Something horrible must of happen , to cause this break up, but we don't know that.
Horrible such as what? I think the official story from the 4 themselves is the truth. Many reasons they split. John & yoko is a big one, Paul not wanting Alien Klein as their new manager, Paul wanting to tour and the others not agreeing, George not getting enough of his songs on their albums etc etc. John left to play with Yoko basically.
Nothing stays the same forever, everything changes. The death of Brian Epstein was the beginning of the end for the Beatles as they were before that event. Many things subsequently contributed to the end.
Actually we do. John Lennon wanted to split and George did too. They couldn't play shows which they all wanted to do (:most musicians want to play live )
*DING* !! Thank you so very much! Learned so much from this wonderful candid interview from '76. Greetings from Canada. Cheers!

Great interview. So fun to listen to and a ton of good vibes

“I’ll be here till I’m 87” !!!
Ringo will go much further beyond that.
One of the best Beatle interviews.
I can listen to Ringo tell stories for hours. Thanks for posting.
Mr Mintz conducts a wonderful interview
No wonder they all wanted Ringo in their band and just around them generally....what a star in every sense and meaning of the word and name
Feb 9 1964 my 13th birthday. Beatles on Ed Sullivan.
I love his sense of humor.
For a guy with a limited education background, Ringo is quite clever. His humor and wit are on par with John's.

This is great Ringo telling his story amazing. Thanks for sharing.
I also went home at lunch on the first day of school. Rock on, Ringo.

Thanks so much for posting, this is fascinating. ❤

Great interview - hadn't heard this before. Thanks a lot for posting!

The drummer always sees what's really going on.Hello William!
Great candid interview
Great interview, can we hear the rest please?
Paul remembers him playing bass (Elvis) to Mohair Sam by Charlie Rich.
1:10:46 - So Ringo felt like a session musician on Sgt. Pepper. Interesting.
Elliot Mintz loves to hear himself talk

During Ringos heavy chemical phase which lasted another decade after this period. Mintz got close to these folks...interesting life.
Great material! I love Ringo suggesting talking about his 'pre-natal experiences'!...
But... who's interviewing??
Sounds like Elliott mintz
@@oliverbird6914 Yes, and he does a fantastic job!
@@oliverbird6914before Elliott became over the top pretentious.
In Australia, they call him Dingo.
The photo with QUEEN SINGER..IS REAL
never heard of him
I like the part where he says his hero is Gene Autry.
@@bufon63 He was a real cowboy.
lol Ringo?
This interview was made by Elliot mintz
Now you know
Mintz hardly spoke in this interview.
Mintz is a ghoul
Why did they not filmed this interview?
It was 1976 - people didn't even have camcorders yet...
Ringo's math is a little off $10K = $5K each?
Elliot Mintz...,another of John Lennon's strange disciples.
Wank comment. He did fine as an interviewer here. Beyond that you don't know shit about shit.
You mean Yoko's minister of 'truth'. Total creep.

Thanks for the info. I was very curious
What did MIntz say in this interview that would have skewed anything in Lennon's direction?
He inspired a world of drummers , But nobody was able to stop the Beatles from breaking up. Something horrible must of happen , to cause this break up, but we don't know that.

Not to mention that they all evolved as musicians and wanted to express their own music and style which no doubt were amazing.
Nothing stays the same forever, everything changes. The death of Brian Epstein was the beginning of the end for the Beatles as they were before that event. Many things subsequently contributed to the end.
Exactly, I think them breaking up was the best thing. ELO was formed afterwards for those if they wanted a Beatles-esque sound
Actually we do. John Lennon wanted to split and George did too. They couldn't play shows which they all wanted to do (:most musicians want to play live )
I love Mr. Conductor but I can't stand the sound of his lighting-up and heavy exhaling. Glad I wasn't sitting there in the path of that fetid wind.
Amazing he quit years ago. I hear he lives a healthy lifestyle now. Maybe the reason for his longevity
mintz the ono myth promoter
Then why bother listening? Imbecile.
