I'm 72 years old and still enjoying Burton Cummings (and the Guess Who). Even through he's in the Rock HOF, he is still underrated as a singer, pianist and song writer. He has received less than a tenth of the recognition and award he deserves.

That wonderful twist is his pronunciation that gives his words clarity. I have never once had to find the words to his songs. I understand every single word he has always said. Add that on top of his range and tone and it’s wondrous.

My mom said when I was young, there were three singers I'd always make people "shush" and make her turn up the radio when they came on. Johnny Cash. Dolly Parton. And Burton Cummings. Fifty years later and I haven't really changed. A few more have been added - but those three are still at the top of the list. I had the pleasure of meeting Johnny Cash at 5 yrs old and he and Miss. June came into the craft store, and saw them perform a few times. I had the pleasure of seeing Dolly in concert. And Burton? Eight times now. His "one man show" is exceptional!!!

I know Im Canadian so this may seem bias but Burton is as close to singer-song writer "perfection" as any superstar in the world. I put him on par with Rod Stewart's vocals and could write too and secondly he and Randy Bachman together were perfection too. They made each other better even though it may be hard to manage the kind of success when your young and ego's were hard to handle. Love you guys.

Terese T Thomas My beautiful Nana used to sing Oh Canada to me. She grew up in Ship Harbour in Halifax. I grew up in New England, in the states and I always felt that the Canadians were the same as the Americans. I never ever felt a divide even though they are two different countries. Maybe that’s because I grew up in New England and my Nana. If I did not know Burton grew up there, I would have thought he grew up somewhere in the states. He does not have an accent.
I stopped into St. Thomas Cathedral this afternoon 8/28/21. It was a pretty awesome experience. Exciting to see what Burton was talking about in this song.

I was right at the front of the stage looking up and Burton was at the white baby grand piano sideways to the audience. I remember thinking oh my God, He’s something else. How can someone so good looking sing so incredible and play the piano like that. He was singing Stand Tall. I knew I was in the presence of greatness.😁
So proud of him for giving his testimony in this song for the whole world to hear. A man that had it all, but was not satisfied he knew something was missing. Only a relationship with Jesus Christ, who died on the Cross for everyone, to save us from eternal damnation separated from God. I just recently discovered Burton Cummings, knew The Guess Who but not his solo work. I love everything about this song - meaningful lyrics from personal experience, very heartfelt but vague enough to make you wonder & think about the inspiration of it, great melody, and seriously incredible vocal performance - what a voice! I compared this recording to the original album recording and thought he was lip synching here, but there's a short vocal run late in the song that's different here so it's not the original after all. What a live vocal performance, just incredible!

They kind of made fun of him and told him no way. It bothered him because he really experienced what he had written about. It's my favorite by him too!
What he left out of his intro was the fact that it takes talent---and he has oodles of it. Just the way music flows from his hands. It's part of him. This, IMO, was one of his best, and underappreciated songs.
Never heard this song until today. Have admired Mr. Cummings voice since the 70's. Glad to hear this, and I hope and pray that he has found the Way, the Truth and the Life which is through the Lord Jesus Christ. Not talking about following rules of religion, but simply repenting and believing in the saving blood that was shed by Jesus Christ as he suffered for us, and while he suffered, he asked God the Father to forgive his killers. He teaches us to love God, our enemies and forgive each other. No rituals, just plain and simple.

I saw him in Edmonton last week. First time for me. He's still the best on keyboards, and certainly didnt dissapoint at all. We had an amazing time .
