Cummins is the MOST underrated rock singer ever. Beautiful voice!
so true....
Burton Cummings and Freddie Mercury are the best voices in rock music.
Absolutely underated Pam!
Absolutely underated Pam!
🥰🙂
I bet you Burton Cummings was in awe and so happy to meet Ray Charles.
He was, and it showed!
😂
Hearing Burton sing perhaps could make Ray see again
100%
He really was.
Burton Cummings should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by now. He is a legend, an icon and musician/artist, a legend.
Its a crime they aren't but its simple...The owner of the rock and roll hall of fame took offense to american woman and never liked them..i think being in the canadian hall of fame means more to him anyway..
He's in the Canadian Hall of Fame, and the Writers Hall of Fame. He is Canadian and lives there. Makes since.
News flash, the "Rock n Roll Hall of Fame" is a complete joke. I'm amazed anyone pays any attention to it - so many people in it aren't even rock performers lol
Burton must have peed on Ahmet’s Corn Flakes once upon a time, cause he ain’t never getting in the RARHOF.
Crazy @@kristinwalden3122
Dinah Shore was really good at her job. She seamlessly brought all the guests into the conversation.
It's a shame that such professionalism all the way around it mostly gone today.
Canada has great artis beautiful people
Why can't there be entertainment like this today? The sheer talent of everyone on the couch, and their conversation is amazing.
I was 17 in 1977, Burton was turning 30. I remember watching this and this was amazing! No autotune and what a beautiful song. Always loved the Guess Who, but Burton Cummings by himself was the voice! So handsome and those eyes🎼🎶🎼💜
I was there at the Hatch Shell, April 30, 1977. I was also 17 and stood right there at the stage right in front of Burton. His piano side way to the stage on the right and it was the white one. So his profile was to me. He was right there, I could probably touch his feet if I tried ha ha Ha. I was just mesmerized when he sang this song at the piano. The voice, emotion, playing the piano, and of course not that it matters but he’s quite good looking and was dressed nice.
@@darjeeling3 Wow! Never been so lucky to see Burton live except online!!!!
I have had a crush on him over the years
@@darjeeling3 very good looking!
Gorgeous man!!!!!!!❤
Four originals... Ray, Dinah, George and Burton. This was the absolute peak of Burton's voice... a once in a generation singer. Still sounds great at 74. Special moment for him, as Ray was his idol.
He still sounds amazing. Never seen him live but I did get to see Ray Charles.
Burton Cummings has been making us Canadians proud for decades!
Deservedly so. Great singer/songwriter/musician.
For sure. He makes us proud.
Every time I listen to Burton Cummings sing, I get tears in my eyes. One of my favorite ever!
amazing acapella
Me too.
I think his funny songs too ie Clap for the Wolfman!!!!!!!!!!!1
BURTON CUMMINGS IN MY OPINION IS ONE OF THE GREATEST AND MOST TALENTED SINGER SONGWRITER ALL RECORDED TIME WITH A VOICE TO DIE FOR!!! THANK YOU 👍🙏🎉😊FOR ALL YOUR GREAT MUSIC 🎶🎶 IT KEPT ME GOING ALL MY LIFE. ALWAYS LOVED U!!😇🙏👍🎉🎉😃🌹🌹🌻🐱🎊💋💋💋💋💋💋💋❣️😎
Absolutely correct. Take care.
Now this is talent! Taylor Swift is a joke compared to him!
Now this is talent! Taylor Swift is a joke compared to him!
One who could compare and is on par w/Burton for songwriting and voice is John Waite of the Babys, solo, and Bad English.
From an Era where there was no auto-tune or where real vocalists didn't lip-sinc
And would have been insulted had anyone suggested it to them.
Burton is an awesome vocalist-Would like to see him & The Guess Who inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.
Boy you are so right just american women should get him in with the guess who let alone everything else. His voice is out of this world
I agree!!!!! He is such a great singer!!!!!!
What a voice! Burton's voice is like crystal clear and with an incredible range.
It will never happen as the guy who runs the RnR HOF has a bias against certain groups/musicians
People need to stop bringing up the hall of shame. who gives a shit. his increasable success tells the story
I love the way Burton heaps praise on Ray ,and gets him singing , that was awesome, what a humble man , both of them
Burton's a real musical treasure. Induct Guess Who into the RnR hall of fame already!
Now that’s how you honour someone who inspired you.
A quiet George Carlin? That's NEVER happened before. Burton stole the show!
His voice...so beautiful and that is an understatement.
The guy has all the tools in life. Born to entertain...
He’ll tell you that himself
I don't know if anyone's mastered a musical instrument to surpass what Burton can do with the human voice. He's really on another level...
nicely said!
Freddie!
@@johnypitman2368 He also plays, flute, saxophone, drums, piano, and guitar!
@@Sandy-et5pj thanks Sandy. Im not surprised because Burton was dedicated to music as a child. Im a guy but couldn't help but notice how hunky Burton was and oh my gosh that voice. Been a fan since the 60s
An interview, with Ray Charles, Burton Cummings, and George Carlin.
Those were the days.
Dinah Shore was a lovely and talented lady. This generation probably never heard of here,
Dinah Shore was always gracious in whatever she was doing; here as a hostess is an excellent example. This is quite a lineup of guests: George Carlin, Ray Charles and Burton Cummings. Shore, in her own right, was an excellent singer.
A proud Winnipegger here, very proud to say (and Burton too) we call Winnipeg home. The fact Winnipeg produced one of the greatest, voices, underrated bands that deserves to no end to be in the Rock n Roll hall of fame. What a voice!
He and Burt Reynolds...same mustache. Bandit 1977
Man This is truly amazing. Burtons voice was peaking at this point. Most definitely one of the greatest voices to ever perform on a stage. I so would love Burton to come to the States .Please Burton Make my & my wife’s dream a reality
He's on tour in U.S. now. We're seeing him in Milwaukee 3/25. CAN'T WAIT!!!
Burton is proof that God exists; only God could gift someone with a voice like that.
Yes I knew our nasality would produce great voices in song......
Lol, god
Burtons little acapella with Ray was fantastic!
I shook my tailfeather
He hit it out of the park in this performance he just smoked it.
She ran a good show. That was a nice segment. Only Cummings is still "standing tall." Miss the others a lot.
Wow. What a master interviewer Dinah was. Engaged all 3 guests at the same time.
Burton Cummings is a treasure 💯❤️
I went into the talk-show couch part of this video expecting it to be totally lame. I'm glad I continued to watch as I really enjoyed the conversation.
That is awesome he got to sit next to Ray Charles! And Ray heard his performance. Really a once-in-a-lifetime event. Well done, Burton!
Dinah was so good, I remember when I was growing up my mom would have her show playing on the T.V. Dinah looked very young for her age. Burton, Ray and George all in one show WOW!
The ability of Dinah and her guests to so beautifully and intelligently articulate their thoughts and feelings so the audience understands and is almost part of the conversation. Sadly, we seldom see this level of conversational depth in today's performers.
Burton has an extraordinary vocal range.
I loved every second of this, especially that amazing moment when Burton and Ray Charles were singing together. WOW!!!!
DAMN RIGHT,VIXEN!
I remember this song from the 1970s. It's great. I saw Burton Cummings 4 times live and met him. Cheers! ✌️🇨🇦
🤟👋🇨🇦🇨🇦👋🤟
So handsome man!!!!!!
Holy damn. George Carlin, Ray Charles, and Burton Cummings....I guarantee Dinah Shore never had such a wealth of talent on her show at one time before or after. One of the greatest comedians ever, one of the greatest musical talents ever, and one of the if not the greatest rock singers ever. What a gem of a video, thanks for this
Wow. This is priceless. Ray Charles and Burton Cummings singing off the cuff...and Dinah Shore was one classy woman.
His TALKING voice is just mesmerizing.
Clearly one of the finest singers ever to draw voice, in any genre. Criminally underrated.
Anyone notice how nice, decent, calm and truly real these people are? What has happened to us since 1976? Jimmy Carter was President…I had such high hopes then as a 10 year old kid 😢
Nicely put, thank you.
Canadians have that effect.
@ I am Canadian. 🤣🇨🇦🫡
I love Burton. He was an underrated performer for sure
I watched Burton and the band perform for my first time in Toronto in 1967. With his looks, and vocals, I knew he would be going places!
Here we are today, 55yrs later, I still listen 🎧 to that voice!
Canadians never underrated Burton’s genius!
It's really hard to find great voices like this today. It's becoming rare.
Burton was 30 yrs old then.. we ALL looked good when we were that age!
But, his voice is amazing and he is very cute!
Love Burton Cummings.
Also: those are some VERY glassy eyes.
Just found this video. Everytime I heard his voice in my younger days, I melted. Had no idea he was so good looking! Love hearing a great singer who can blow you away singing live. No audio tune & not lip syncing. In my senior years, I’m still melting hearing this song. Thank you, Burton Cummings.
His voice is just amazing! Could listen to him sing 24/7.
I actually get choked up hearing this highly talented man, his silky voice draws you right in. I hope out there The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame comes calling, so deserving
It's a pretty short list of musical legends that had the level of control on their voice to maintain the emotion of such top-notch lyrics.
Cummings is absolute musical royalty.
This man with the guess who need to be in the hall of fame really sad please hurry get these guys in while they still stand tall
They belong in the Rock and Roll hall of Fame years ago. Great singer.
Absolutely . One of the best rock singers 👍 Canadian brother
Burton is truly a prodigy!
This guy is great and he's singing live. It's not the record with the fadeout which so many did back then and lio synching now
I still play this album all the time!! Thank you Burton for all your music!
So handsome and what a voice...
Burton Cummings is the GOAT! My favorite male singer ever 💘😍❤ 🔥💝🎤🎹
Cummings' vocals flawless as usual. We got the Dinah show in Australia, but seeing this lineup as an adult is terrific. Four of the biggest names/talents in 70s showbiz, right there on the same couch 😊
All the best Burton from your Good Friend Mark From Maple 🍁 Grove Mn USA 🎉
2:03 My all time favorite song from the 70’s to now! Love it love it love it!

If I could ever Sing worth-a-darn..
I would *Love* to sing like Burton!
The GREAT Burton Cummings!
Extraordinary discussion of the creative process here by leaders in their fields. You don’t hear this sort of thing on television anymore.
That's fucking dynamite! 4 legends strutting their stuff!
It makes all the difference in the world that he is singing from a real heartache story.
Man Dinah was playing with a full house right there. Holy.. &&@$
His reaction just as he has finished... he knows he has absolutely CRUSHED it.
Burt giving great props to Ray Charles and jamming with him. Great stuff! 👍🙏👍
what a line up! George Carlin Ray Charles and Burton's voice
Two years before I was even born this aired!!! So frustrating that I missed out!!
Three legends for one show.
Four actually.
Unbelievable, spectacular interview. Thank you for posting this.
Burton ...always a favorite voice.
This was an amazing blast from the past. Hard to say what was better - the song or the couch banter. Great gem!
Dinah, was a beautiful southern belle.
I love it when he sings-"When a Man Loves a Woman".
My favorite Rock voice of all time !
Whoa...... What a couch. Ray Charles, Burton Cummings and George Carlin !
Such class shown for a man worthy of admiration - Ray Charles. 2 legends right here.
Bet Burton was excited to sing with Ray Charles!
What a great interview! IMHO, Burton Cummings and Freddie Mercury (no particular order) are the two best vocalists in rock history.
Imagine performing with Ray in the room!! Ray's comments. Burton nailed it! 👍
How did I miss this?! Being on Dinah Shore's show at the beginning of your solo career AND sharing it with the legendary George Carlin and Ray Charles must have been an amazing experience! Your performance was wonderful as usual!! Bet your Mother loved this piece!!
What a couch of talent
OH MY GOD, I am TOTALLY head over heels in LOVE with this Man. PLEASE Burton LOVE ME

@@westernsharpieshe better stand in line or take a number
Does it live, and it sounds just like the record, amazing!
... What a great Diana Shore show.
Great host
his voice is fantastic , his music & songs also. heard him in concert several times . with the (guess who) when he was younger, later solo & throughout his career. The concert was in an arena and he sounded amazingly just as he does right here singing on Dinah shore's show ..
Wow. Just wow. Can these men sing!!! This is just a gem of a warm and real interview.
Burton Cummings is a very talented musician. 🎹🎵
I was 20 yrs old in 1977 he had a great voice and I rmember this song well.
WOW! Just WOW!! Super job on the remastering! The Audio is rich and clean and fabulous! This is a quartet of some of the most powerful people in entertainment history! Just WOW!!!❤
Love this interview and love Burton's music, especially his first solo album. I had the vinyl, then I had the cassette, now I have the CD, among his others. :) the first time I heard Stand Tall I was in a car with my bf and I as soon as I heard the voice I yelled "that's Burton Cumings". His voice is so distinct to those of us who love his music. Still one of the vrry best in my opinion.
Loved those days, Dinah, Merv.
Another northern rock Canadian hero! ca
What an amazing group of guests (legends)...Ray, Burton and George!
Your voice is so mellow and peaceful like silk creating a peaceful calm ........
7:04 - Burton Cummings and Ray Charles?? WOW....
