Hey guys. Zach here at etrailer.com. Whether you've been pulling your camper for a long time or you're new to hauling a camper, you're probably going to run into the issue of needing some extra storage, especially for some of those larger items like a generator or even a cooler. When it comes to like a fifth wheel like this, we don't have a lot of room in the back of our truck for some of those things. We definitely don't want to throw that generator in the camper. Some of that stuff doesn't fit in the basement doors.
So Mount-N-Lock came up with a really good solution, and that's the GennyGo. What separates the GennyGo from a standard cargo carrier is the support arms underneath. So whether you have the standard like we have here, that just says the two arms, or the heavy duty with the four arms, it's going to do a really good job of giving you a solid foundation to carry that weight. It attaches to our bumper with these arms that go around it, and then a bolt drops down and secures that in place. And you can see that is really nice and tight, as opposed to the play you would get in a standard hitch receiver, where you'd have just an old traditional cargo carrier hooked up to the back. So this is going to come in a couple different configurations, whatever is best fits your needs.
This side right here, I have the standard steel with a black powdered coat, and on this side I had the heavy duty aluminum. So both are going to be great options, and each finish is going to have a standard duty with the two arms and a heavy duty with the four arms. Now, the difference in weight capacities, the standard steel construction is going to give you a maximum capacity of 200 pounds. If we went up to the heavy duty option with the four arms, that's going to increase our capacity to 400 pounds. Now, when it comes to the aluminum, the two-armed standard version of the aluminum has a weight capacity of 125 pounds, and the heavy duty, like we have here with our generator on here, is going to give us a maximum capacity of 250 pounds. Now, there is a couple of things to keep in mind when it comes to that weight capacity.
And that's the, how you have it mounted onto the bumper. There's a couple of different links that you can do with this. You can extend it out, you can have it in the standard version right here, or you can make it even more compact to increase that weight capacity. Now, when it comes to the capacity, it can be a little confusing. So pound-feet don't equal pounds, and you'll see a lot of pound-foot references in the directions for this. And basically, what that means is the further you get out, the less this can carry due to the leverage.
The closer you get to stray back in or where your weight is centered, the more you can carry. So if you measure 12 inches, which is the standard measurements for this setup, 12 inches from the bumper, that's not going to be right in the center of this tray with the way I have it configured right now. It's going to hit right about here. So this 12 inches is where if I have my load centered right there, that's going to be 200 pounds capacity. If I brought it out a little bit more, let's say I had my load centered three inches out past that. I'm going to use this generator as an example. This is the etrailer 3,200 watt generator. It's got a dry weight of 90 pounds. So if I had 90 pounds 15 inches centered out, you are going to multiply that

*100% best **Generater.Systems** I have used. A test for hurricane prep here in Louisiana: three AC units, 5000, 5000 & 8000, 3 fridges, 2 device power setups, 4 flat screens....AND I had 40% of the power meter to spare.*

How much gas you got!? It all depends on the unit, its fuel tank and the work load as well as things like ventilation. You need oxygen to keep it burning! www.etrailer.com/Generators/A-iPower/289-SUA2000i.html This Ai generator can run up to 7 hours at a half load and 4 hours at a full load. There are bigger units that can run much longer. No matter how long you run the unit always make sure you check the oil level and conduct preventative maintenance to ensure longevity of your unit!

My worry is the thin bumper ripping away from the two frame rails its welded to. Forest River advised against anything except the spare tire that came on the bumper.

We highly recommend installing safety struts if your rear bumper is not welded to a support beam. They are designed to provide support and take some of the weight so that it's not all on the welds.

Put a "steal me" sign on a genny held in by ratchet straps only. Seriously locked box, or wave goodbye.

You're right, that isn't a very secure option. TorkLift offers their Lock and Load, part # TLA7901 that would offer more theft deterrence.

This is a really cool setup but how does it hold against bumper scraping the ground entering the driveways? My trailer (TrailLite Trail Cruiser 27' ) is really low to the ground so entering some driveways/gas station dips etc scrapes the bumper all the time. It could be nice if there was an option to have the tray mounted on top of the bumper rather than behind it to prevent the tray itself from being scraped against the road.

We really couldn't say. There's too many variables involved, such as the rear ground clearance, the slope of the driveway, etc. If you measure 24-1/4 rearward from the top of the back bumper, you'll have a good idea of where the rearmost bottom edge of the carrier will sit. Hopefully that will help you out!

Do you think it's a good idea to get two of those: one for the generator and one for generic cargo (beach, camp chairs, tables, inflatable kayak bags, etc) and then build plywood box cover for the generator one so that the generator never has to be lifted on and off the carrier regardless of the weather and when the trailer is stored or being pulled to the campsite, the generator is protected from elements.
And for the cargo storage one, I'd be able to build a pretty large box storage out of 2"x4" pieces of lumber and plywood to have a spacious storage box with a door on the back measuring several feet in all dimensions to fit a bunch of stuff permanently and protected from elements that currently doesn't fit to the trailer.

That could potentially work. You'll want to make sure whatever box you construct is vented so the generator's intake and exhaust isn't blocked. You'll also want to make sure the capacity of the bumper and the 200 lb capacity of the carrier isn't exceeded. Hope that helps!

I have a converted skoolie with a 10in steel bumper that is more than strong enough to support this. It's about 2inches thick. Is there any way to modify this to work on that bumper?

We do not have any confirmation of this kit being installed on a 10 inch bumper. I suppose you could make a bracket that would attach to this carrier but the weight capacities would no longer be accurate.
