      Bev, I love hearing from fellow South Africans. I grew up with kokie pens. I only recently started talking about markers as not everyone understood what a kokie is. 😆

    Great ideayiu use green mat with cm and inches grade ...you can see clearly some tiny changes. It's good for this who skip from inch paterns to cm to do not be lost or use differebt expensive mats. Before beginner buy them big utting mats they should test slippers I miniature and this big grits are so universal. I start from quilting pages to learn precision of sewing and bloks as well colourblocking ..its so much fun .....but also teach you manipulation with material so you understand seams better (it helpfull with designing strong seams in garments) .

    I know that when you grade patterns for woven fabric that you are supposed to also alter the depth of the arm hole. I was wondering if that is the same with fabric that has stretch?
    I am trying to size up a pattern I made years ago for a very stretchy rib-knit. I intend to use it for the same kind of fabric but am heavier than I was when I made the draft. This video has been very helpful, though I don’t use pattern systems and rely mainly on books for drafting. Thank you 🌸

    Hi Elsabe. Thank you for this. It was most helpful especially as I have been given lots of knit fabric with very different stretch ratios. I do have a question. Would the same ratios work for stretch knit pants. Knit pants are an important part of my day to day winter wardrobe and some of the knits I was given have enough yardage for pants but again such different amounts of stretch. TIA. Nana

      @nantrish7771.
      Hi there fellow Student. This was a great lesson in how to grade down for Fabric Stretch values.
      I'm not sure how Pant Width "lengths" would be graded for Super Stretch yet.
      I am learning to draft a Slack Pant Bodice with minimal ease so grading down for Stretch Fabric pants will be a lot easier!
      Parts 1 through 5 cover the different Bum shapes where there is a difference of 12.5", 10", 7.5" and 6.5" between the waist
      and the low hip. Waist darts are a standard 1/2" and 3.5" long. That's how easy this method is if you are interested.
      Don't waist all that stretch fabric!
      If you have found out how to adjust the Pant Width lengths already, tell me! I'm still looking for the answer!
      Maybe the Fabric is shortening from 3 different areas? Between high hip and low hip, between crotch and knee, between knee
      and ankle/hemline, but by how much?
      Good luck from Canada!

    How would I draft the main bodice sloper you have? Is it a foundation? Is it just made to the measurements? Did you use the book specifically and follow the directions or did you do your own thing in some parts? If so could you make a video on what you did to draft the bodice first?

    • @ElsabeHurn
      @ElsabeHurn  3 года назад

      My bodice I use is drafted with the Sure-Fit Designs System. It is a master pattern and you use your personal measurements on the sizing dots to draft your sloper. Go to the Sure-Fit designs channel to see how the system works

      It is not a Sure-Fit Designs book. The book is designing with stretch fabrics and is a text book that gets used in design schools.
